QUOTE(xtylish @ Apr 15 2013, 05:09 PM) actually i got cousin in jb but dun really wanna disturb them leh.. should i stay jb one night for sat and sun class or go back and forth everyday? Is your cousin stay near the place you attend class? if yes, you can consider since not really safe for a girl to travel alone back and forth JB and SG. if you really need to travel back and forth then should find the route from SG to that place and calculate the cost, then you will know which is smarter choice. i understand you that feeling of dont want to disturb cousin/relative so much.i had that before, but sometimes is inevitably.

QUOTE(barca96 @ Apr 17 2013, 04:25 PM) Guys, I haven't been to Singapore for over a year now due to my busy schedule. So I will be going there tomorrow for 5 days. Which sim card should I get? I am going to need around 100-200mb. I am going to take a bus from BTS. Never done that before because the last time I used to take bus from Time Square or Pudu between 2005-09. Which bus company is reliable now? And what is the price directly to Singapore? The BTS website is pretty useless. Cheers. BTS?? TBS izit? i think most bus service from there almost the same, konsortium, plusliner.

QUOTE(LiangZhuge @ Apr 18 2013, 11:01 AM) Invest in SG blue chip stocks lah. Buy gold you need place to keep, later kena curi. Or worst Geneva Gold case Anyway just wondering what do you guys do with your savings in SG ? The FD rate here is 1. thinking of buying some blue chip and get dividends but seems like foreigners need to have $5000 as deposit just to get a online trading account. 2. Become currency trader taking bags of money back... now RM is strong ... 2.457 compared to 4.478 a month ago 3. Don't think I can buy property here in SG 4. Don't think I can buy property in KL either.... others ? Lol. just to get an account already $5000, if include buying blue chip, then really need alot cash... what is the risk in blue chip stocks?same as gold? going up and down from time to time?

QUOTE(JustcallmeLarry @ Apr 19 2013, 02:31 AM) Guys is it ok for fresh grad to look for job in Singapore? Or should get some experience in Malaysia first b4 going over, bcs will ur Singaporean colleague be willing to train & help out Malaysians??? Why not.if you intend to gain experience in malaysia first, then you better make sure you will remain in the same industry when you come over to singapore because if you shifting to a similiar job title but diff job scope, eventually they will treat you as freshie also. Singaporean colleague is totally depend one, if you lucky enough, you will met nice and patient one who willing to help you. if you are bad luck, then no choice d.

QUOTE(JohnJon82 @ Apr 19 2013, 12:28 PM) I sharing room with my GF, she come here once a while during the holidays. Landlady really welcome her every time, and ask her to come often and cook her lunch when I am working. You have to discuss with the owner before signing to see if they allow or not and how much. Some due to religion, personal reasons, and don't want a couple. My previous Muslim landlord don't allow due to religion reason because we are not married, my other previous Muslim landlord allow but charge a very high daily rate. Bugis, Lavender, Kallang to the right. Tiong Bahru, Redhill to the left. Mine is 550 (consider shared room with my GF) at Lavender, 5-10 minutes bus to North Bridge Road depend on which area in the road. 550 lavender quite cheap leh, near mrt? include PUB ? how you find this room?

QUOTE(deodorant @ Apr 22 2013, 09:01 AM) No harm trying mah. I applied my PR in January (1yr 7mths work in SG), got the approval a few weeks ago, so.... less than 2years. P2 EP. Those of u who got PR, did your IPA say anything like 'you are invited to apply for citizenship after X years" etc? I'm wondering if that line really means a decent chance of SC approval after X years or whether it's just some standard letter template. You work here only <2 years?? thought you already work here for quite long already.haha you are right that no harm trying, just think if i bonded by CPF to pay a certain amount of money every month, will it hurt me since i want to save more money before become PR,1st year monthly CPF not really high right?

QUOTE(JohnJon82 @ Apr 22 2013, 11:12 AM) If you are saving 20% of your pay, or 1k if your pay is more than 5k, then the CPF contribution should not be significant for you. Consider it as saving for your future home here and a 15-16% pay increment from your employer that you can't use yet. Haha, i am a low pay worker only. btw, i remember that there once saying 1st year is how many %, then 2nd year is how many % and so on. anyone mind share again? so that i can do my calculation to see how many leftover for take home pay.hehe
