@reign226
@deodorant

Thanks for the tips ill look into bedok, i did the math i think taking abit more time to get to the city is better then paying an extra 200-300 dollars in rent,  my main few factors are that i want to be able to cook and not have the owner there dictate what i should or should not do.

Looking around the sites i can only find mostly Condo's that have that kind of flexibility which is paramount to how i want to live. But the come at a steep cost, i guess it boils down to savings vs freedom, i have to spend more time looking for the right place or couple or right places then  make time to view them.

I hate that listings have very little or no info as well as terrible pictures.

Anyone else come across problems like this?
*
I once stay at a unit without owner and can cook, the thing only problem is, other tenants is staying there longer than me, so their thing is full in the fridge, when you buy thing to store, you need to find place yourself in the fridge to store your thing, cooking wise no problem, but you need to keep the stove clean. But since it is without owner, the cleanliness of the unit is terrible, i mean really terrible, dust is like decade thick. before i move in, everything also say ok ok. but after one week staying there, one piece of rule and regulation coming out, talk alot of bullshit, cannot this, cannot that. so IMO, with or without owner, the difference is can cook, other thing i dont see any different, you still have people dictate what you should or should not do because without owner, the main tenant still need to answer to the owner himself.

Crap, means I need to get another white card to fill on my way back. Thanks for the info biggrin.gif My medical report is taking super damn long, until today they still have not sent the report to my company  rclxub.gif

Can I apply for a bank account with IPA? If my company is to issue me a letter I don't need to place deposit right? Just need to remain SGD 500 every month to make sure I don't get charged only?

My company currently does not have a POSB account & my colleague is suggesting that I apply for UOB as there are more ATMs around. What do you guys think?
*
About the getting charged part, there also have monthly withdraw limit where if you withdraw too many times, you will get charged. UOB have more atms then POSB? are you sure? hmm.gif

If you want "freedom", you either buy your own unit or rent an entire unit.

Once you "share" or "live with landlord"... there will be a compromise. The landlord or main tenant will always have a "my roof, my rules" attitude.

My take for freshies... spend a bit more and get a master bedroom with attached toilet. Then work hard, work smart... get promotions as quick as possible and invest to kick off the passive income stream... to move on to bigger and better things in 3-5 years time and so on. If you plan for your entire stay in SG to be renting room (kowtow to landlord/main tenant), running after buses and trains, eat economy rice,... because your salary stays more or less where it is now - then it's like the life of a foreign labourer. What's the point of living?
*
Agree with you, i still finding way to increase my income, that why taking PR is a deep consideration as my take home pay will be lesser for me if i intend to make investment. i also understand that CPF can be used as downpayment for HDB.

Haiz, dilemma... rclxub.gif

Of course POSB has more, just that my company currently does not have a POSB account, therefore they're saying that its a bit more complicated & difficult to open an acc there?  hmm.gif

Probably going for OCBC as my company just issued me a letter rolleyes.gif
*
Actually is depend on company, like mine, they does not restrict us to any bank, basically is those more famous bank la. is not complicated or difficult to open a bank acc in term of us la. in term of HR, idk.

I really enjoy OCBC service, very friendly and nice. thumbup.gif

icic, Thank you for the clarification... As i browsed through their websites, i notice that:

- M1 has plans for Iphone and BlackBerry only.
- Singtel has quite a few phones but not BTC Butterfly.
- Starhub do have the HTC Butterfly but it's not under SmartSurf plan.

*Actually i'm looking @ HTC Butterfly with plan.
*
i dont think M1 only has plans for iphone and blackberry.
maybe their website not reflecting those phone, you can go to m1 shop and ask. everything is the same for three telcos.

are you using reverse psychology?  hmm.gif
*
Reverse psychology? dont think so. Mackiddo is correct, you can ranting but you must remind yourself that after finish ranting, everything must go, if not, you will keep on complaining and complaining as the environment in SG is also alot of complaining here and there, mindset going toward negative, then you can say bye bye to SG because you cant take it anymore and MY would be better for you as you are local. situation does not changed but environment changed. maybe abit better.

Hi guys, I will be called up for an interview in Micron near woodland. The position offered is test device engineer.

Is anyone here knows what type of questions will be asked during the interview?

I am not sure what to fill in the first starting salary. Normally, what is the salary for a first class holder fresh grad in Micron?

Thanks
*
Micron @ woodland? hmm, salary okay comparing all the stress you going to get there. you can put the range from 2.4K ~ 3.2K i believe. whistling.gif

How long did you plan to work before you will have enough financial support for your company? you plan to work in marketing field? but is good to think wild because you only can go wild while you are young, if you are young la..haha

stop beating around the bush.
so u were offered a entry level pay which u do not think is what you deserve and you are pissed and that is all
there is no need to give all kind of excuse to make ur irrelevant stand of u being a foreigner (a malaysian) and the conversion rate having anything to do with it
so the PRC should be paid half, 1k instead since the exchange rate for RMB to SGD is 5:1 instead of 2.5:1 for RM:SGD
grow up and move on. the whole world does not revolve around you.
if this company does not value you...why the hell are you still interested in that company.
u understand that there is a pay grade scale...so if you are offered an entry level pay...that means the position you are applying is an entry level job and they do not think you are capable enough to be paid for a more senior role. do you even understand such logic?
just because u have a reputable degree and have 5 years of experience does not entitle u to anything.
*
I think the answer for his problem is simple, SG is not a place for him, he should stay at Malaysia, he can ranting and say anything, but cannot denied all of us who work in SG.

i'm only 23 i consider that as young? haha...yea i plan to work in marketing field...so do u think i get some experience in malaysia 1st then just go sg? or straight go sg find work.
*
Depend on you. if i want to choose, i will straight apply SG job first, if you are the kind of person cannot wait, start working in malaysia and continue apply for job, cannot guarantee you immediate get a job, maybe 1 week, maybe few month, you never know

I need some recommendation for my friend, who get a job offer somewhere in June ~ August (unconfirmed yet). However she's now in SG and got another job offer which definitely with lower pay and not-that-bright-future job.

So my question is, is that advisable to apply for the lower pay job while waiting for the unconfirmed job offer? Will there be any difficulty to apply for pass when switch to the unconfirmed job? Btw, she just finished a contract basis job a month ago.
*
This come to where is she willing to take the risk? the unconfirmed job offer surely have the so called "we will get back to you on bla bla bla", then she only need to wait until that day before she take consider the job offer.dont want to take risk then just take the lower pay offer. cry.gif

I think the unconfirmed job is 100%, just that the date is unconfirmed (So the latest could have to wait till August). So the only concern is the work permits. Would she be blacklisted if she change jobs too frequent?
*
Change job too frequent, i not sure if she will be blacklisted, dont think anyone here have that experience b4, but the hiring company will look at this thing because they also scare they will end up hiring a person who does not stay long and alway change jobs, some company dont even revise the resume when they know how frequent your friend change job.
