hi all guitar phreaks. i hv always wanted to make stompboxes of my own. but i have zero knowledge except a bit of soldering skills back at school. i have yet to make my first one. and diystompboxes should be a good first bet. the beginner's project there. i think its a very gratifying and satisfying thing to do... post away..we need experts, not beginners like me. here are some good links i bumped into... http://www.tonepad.comhttp://www.diyguitarist.comgeneralguitargadgetsmaybe we can post up our progress too with pics. hope this shall be a good thread. i think we gonna start with a relatively simple booster pedal ... after 2-3 projects maybe i think we will tackle intermedietely tough ones like a ts808 hopefully good enuff to make a marshall jackhammer havent found the schemes yet tho lol

Well, when it comes to bulit something (that actually works) with my hands, i suck at it .... i remember last time at high school, Kemahiran Hidup kerja khusus .... we have to make LED circuirt board .... I well the whole board like Factory Standard ... put in the 9 Volt Battery .... the LED never light up Well, at lest you get to understand how these stuff works from the inside point of view. You never know ... you mix and match and you create a new effect sound and call it ... BOSS nick_drake Effect Pedal This post has been edited by TheWhacker: Apr 4 2006, 02:40 PM

I have this phobia for electronics actually, but I still managed to light up my LED. If he's successful it would be nick_drake Boss Pedal instead.

hehe...all that later lah..now concentrate on sourcing the parts first...jalan pasar...and.. ..i'd rather make copies of other good pedals than fumble with one on my own....at least until i gain more experience. and i asked someone who's experienced in making pedals, he sold a few...he mentioned sth like a shop opposite pudu plaza called NIXIE. he said some casings can be found there... btw, i tore apart a busted modem of mine. there are so many capacitors there. some of them can be used i hope. the tips are already soldered in..but can be taken out..and then extended with wire i guess? btw, i think my mom's gonna buy a new toaster. so the old toaster can be used to bake cases after painting.

I think its better if you can post some pictures on what you're actually planning to do like the folks from Casings and Modifications. [Worklog] Icute CasingWorklog: Project Littlebit, - I'm lazy so this will take a while[WORKLOG] Project "Number `1", my frist worklog and modWith that, we all can (hopefully) tip in some advice and suggestions to make your very own Effect pedal

End of ghey discussion lol. First, you guys are worried that the Guitar Phreaks Club's getting to serious, now that we've created a new topic, you're gonna plague it with gay crap? Now, where's evo.com when we need him lol?

that's quite a logical 'no' isnt it? like wanting to run before u can crawl. yeah u can always try, u might get stuck halfway and the overly complicated schematic, and give up altogether. and u might not even try another one, cause u already hv the bad impression of diy pedals. start with a simple one. visit the pages above and check out the beginner pedals. cheers/
