Bro which rim coating that you used lasted more than a month and also what are the ones that lasted around a month? For my next set of rims thinking of bringing them back first for a full prep and then apply some coatings laugh.gif
It's the same glass coating that I'm currently using on the rest of my car. The original (1st version) Opti Coat and CQuartz lasted me around a month maybe two, others (not many) are a dissapointment.
Note: I gauge the durability by how water bead/sheet so the coating might (or might not) still be there.

Except for the glass coat (trying it on one of my wheels only), this was quite some times ago (especially the Opti Coat). Now I just clean them and use one of my spray waxes when I'm not that lazy....

Wow.. was expecting more from Opti Coat and CQuartz since on the American and British forums it is claimed to last more than a year sweat.gif
Like I said, they might still be there even though the beading was already quite flat and very minimal sheeting. I can't think of a way to find out since, after a couple of months, I don't see any difference between the coated rim and those I didn't coat, before, during or after cleaning. Maybe the advantages would show in the long run.....

Anyway, mine are just OEM and my waja is just on cheapo taiwan replicas. I'm just testing them out for the time, maybe in the future, when I can afford to get a good quality ones..... tongue.gif

Yes, the same water beading effect. SONAX said it can last for 6 months, we'll see how.
Would that be 6 months of European weather or Malaysian weather? whistling.gif

Got any other available Glass Coat other than the Optimum brand?

Something is wrong on my windscreen or the wiper, wanted to have a smooth surface so no need use wiper.

The 22ple can be applied on windscreen?
If you mean FOR glass (and not made OF glass.... tongue.gif ), there's plenty, Rainaway, Aquapel, those Japs brands at Autobacs, GTechniq, etc. I've only tried Rainaway & Aquapel.....in the end (currently) I'm back using RainX.... sweat.gif

Maybe your windscreen just needed some decontamination and polishing....

Haven't tried 22ple on windscreen....

My windscreen is a headache, just the driver side only. The wiper always judder only on certain area.

Will those coating make the windscreen surface smooth for wipers....?
I think you should clean (and possibly polish) the windscreen first and see how i goes. If there's still a problem then check your wiper blade or change them. Btw your wipers are OEM or aftermarket?

It did feel smooth for a while, then when the screen gets dirty they start to judder a bit, clean again, smooth again, dirty then judder again, clean then smooth again....then after a few rainstorms and wiper usage, beading on those wiper area got weaker and those area where the wipers didn't reach got hard waterspots. Water run-offs also not as good as RainX (fresh)....expensive....so back to RainX.

....with a qualification: it would produce different look on different rubber. Personally, too much shine/gloss to my liking on my Eagle GSD5, just nice on my Nexen N6000, a PITA to get it even on the stock NCT5, also looks nice on the Maxxis directional, only so-so on RE002. But, the sheen/shine can be adjusted by putting on another layer (more shine) or wiping it off after a while (less shine) or applying it on wet/damp rubber instead. But 2 things I'm very sure about: It's damn durable and it takes longer for the brownish look to come back. It's the one tire dressing that is a 'must have' for me.

I actually prefer my tyres with a slight matte look - I apply the dressing sparingly, and it's only after a few days when the dressing wears off a little which I get my intended effect. Keeps the car body as the center of attraction biggrin.gif
May I make a suggestion. If you get the chance, do try Duragloss 253 Tire & Rubber dressing. Waterbased and, when applied sparringly, would give a very decent 'new rubber' matt/satin look, and quite durable too, not to mention also works on exterior plastics (ie. minimal runs after rain). This and the Zaino Z16 is my go-to on my GY F1 GSD5 where matt/satin look is much more prefered.

Sorry, I haven't. But, for the life of me, I think I've seen it before but just can't remember where or when.

Anyway, for tyres, I did get the opportunity to try a sample of this a few years back:

http://www.soft99.co.jp/english/products/c....html?pid=02082

It did last for quite a few MONTHS (lots of them actually) and all it needed was just a PW wash to get it back looking clean again. I would love to get my hand on it but, unfortunately, not able to find it anywhere outside of Japan. If any of you guys can find it, do tell ya.....

anyone having any feedback on these 2 sealant/coating?
Ahhhh....Enviro-Shield. Haven't used that in years. I think still have some left in my bottle....

I've used Enviro-Shield, Opti Seal and Zaino Clear Seal before. They are kinda similar in nature (WOWA - Wipe On Walk Away) but each have their own strengths and weaknesses. Anything in particular you want to know?

wafak you even have those LOL!

what about
- gloss
- beading/water repellent (i guess surface friction/strength co efficient? this probably also determines how well brake dust shrugs off)
- application (ease of it? would you have to sacrifice microfiber cloths? i know some coating/sealant product will harden and thus rendering your MF cloth dead after application/buffing off)
- durability
- heat resistance coinsidering they are for rims
Yeah...quite a few years ago when WOWA (not WOWO) were the 'trend'.

urrmm...I guess you're talking about the NanoGlass then. Sorry, haven't tried that one. Wanted to until I found out that....let's just say it's not really a true coating per se.... whistling.gif

Sonax Wheel Cleaner is labeled as a PH-neutral wheel cleaner that's safe on all kind of wheels. With it's iron removing properties, is it safe to be use on body paint like how Iron X is used? hmm.gif
Anybody here know whether the clear coat used on the car body is any different from those on wheels? I'm also interested to know. I think if somebody really knowlegeable can answer this then the above would be quite clear.

Interested to know your opinions for this as well, although I'm more of a time-saving guy (IMO, I'd prefer to reapply new rounds of product instead of lasting rounds on the car, at least it's new. As for time, you'd never know when you'll have less of it wink.gif

Which ones? The WOWA stuffs (Opti Seal, Enviro-Shield, Zaino Clear Seal, etc.)?

i'm a lazy guy, so if things last longer (hence less need of re-application) it'll be a plus to me smile.gif
and... its not that i can always get the opportunity to have my rims lying around without tires fitted to them yet tongue.gif

You got it wink.gif
- Well...first off....you need AT LEAST 2 layers to get a decent enough beading with ES, one layer would do with the other two.
- OS is a nice beader, ES is a good sheeter and ZCS is somewhere in-between.
- On my burgundy Waja, OS looks nicer, ES doesn't do much and ZCS is, again, somewhere in-between.
- Slickness OS -> ZCS -> ES
- Durability (by observing the beading and sheeting), ES -> ZCS -> OS
- Protection against water spots, contaminant, etc., same as above.
- Ease of application, about the same

I've only used OS & ES on wheels. Very easy to apply as you just wipe it on and leave it to cure, again, under the sun would be best. If use Megs APC to wash, one wash was all it needed to remove OS altogether; ES still got a little bit of life left. If use normal shampoo, I could put OS as lasting around 2 ~ 3 weeks and ES maybe another additional week or two. Again, I have to say, ES is NOT a beader so don't expect the rims to have nice beading, but it does sheet water better than OS.

Local Retail Price
ES - RM 77 - 8oz
OS - RM 125 - 8oz
ZCS - around RM 150 - 6oz

Value for money...well....go figure.... tongue.gif

But just FYI, I'm currently testing this on my Chery OEM wheels (which look curiously similar to Waja OEM.... tongue.gif ):

Sonax Xtreme Brilliant Shine Detailer

A few test by the guys in Europe shows that it's quite resilient to chemical cleaner. Though not as easy to apply as the three above but it's easy enough. And retailing at RM86 for 750ml, so far it looks very promising.
