Cant afford... do you really need it? if you cannot afford it , does it matter how cheap it is? just wondering feeling good after 5 rounds around the sri damansara road loop this afternoon. just had an idea to do the loop as part of training for upcoming ride in slim river because i send my son to kumon there. instead of justs itting around thought i do some exercise. but it looks like haze is back This post has been edited by dickybird: Jul 22 2013, 07:53 PM |

QUOTE(Cyphereza @ Jul 24 2013, 01:17 PM) What do you want to achieve? Total stiffness? Only you can answer your question whether you want to use Deore or what not. i'd say he wants carbon cranks and sram RD with bits of carbon in the cage, wouldn't you? hehea bike is a bike, carbon frame or not. you put the groupset on it and you ride, so what is the problem? |

QUOTE(jerambesu86 @ Jul 24 2013, 01:05 PM) who said anything about malu? im asking if it would defeat the purpose. deore crankset flexy? u sure? carbon frame increase stiffness? its not <removed> lah! both are plenty stiff enough to break your bones it is just a matter of heavy or not lah. and where got mtb ppl sprint up to 50kph?!dont understand? let me elaborate a bit. carbon frame is suppose to increase stiffness. since deore esp the crankset is flexy, would the stiffness in the frame useless? i talking about 50km/h sprint during the last 1km. simple question but you making it complicated. if you think its trivial to you then you dont have to answer. there are many more newbies browsing this forum to gain theoretical knowledge. you need to read more mtb mags to gain more K, there it is more complete. |

QUOTE(eohl79 @ Jul 24 2013, 10:51 AM) Not to forget from XC -> Trail -> DH... clothes and gears varies too including rider... XC usually wear tights top to bottom, may have shaven legs, wear those more aero and airy helmets. Going up to trail/AM... riders usually wear baggie shorts, sometimes with brain buckets, more ragged look |

QUOTE(ahmeduk88 @ Jul 24 2013, 09:55 PM) I do. 1x8. Got my chain guide. Now i wont worry about the chain falling off now. WOOHOO!!! beggging your pardon but ALu is not stiffer than steel just lighter. as someone said they are here for theorectical learning, so we must try to be as correct as possible.Well, as a person riding deore cranks on an Acera rear mech, i think things are practically the same with difference in weight. Just ride whats best for ur use. People with deores do win races. People with XTR also win races. But if you ask my personal opinion (in regards to my always borrow and test people's bikes from deores to zee), shifting smoothness is almost the same, but plushness at the trigger, now thats different. Best so far is the XO (again, based on my experience trying friend's bikes). Another thing is chain slap, more advanced rear mechs will give less chain slap. My aceras have left me with a torn chainstay protector. As for cranks, they are pretty much the same. Honest. But lightness, now thats different. But, riding a carbon frame with deore groupset, doesnt matter actually. still good. Still getting the gainzz from the carbon frame. As a fan of steel and alu frames, since i use a steely for my hybrid and alu for my HT, alu is stiffer and we can reek the benefits of from the extra stiffness. Carbon, i have no experience yet. And guys, no need to be anal. Just chill and less confrontation aite? |

QUOTE(jerambesu86 @ Jul 24 2013, 10:53 PM) thanks. best info yet. nice to hear useful experience here. the actual quote is from Top Gun and i quote "son, your ego is writing cheques your body can't cash..." dont let your mouth write a check your butt cant cash. maybe its not your fault your mother dropped you on your head. anyway since you are such a noob you wouldnt be able to tell the diff between deore and xtr anyway, so just get deore, it is just xtr from a few years back. just like IT guys never used to get fired for buying IBM, you can't go wrong with deore. 27? so you stillriding kapcai to work or calling out other people's momma on paultan.org asking about DSG or tiptronic is better and should you buy that ktm Xbow with the C fibre chassis or or the saga SV? this a mtb forum why you and go bring in other people's momma for? now play nice and say you're sorry. QUOTE(jerambesu86 @ Jul 24 2013, 11:29 PM) lol you too are dropped on your head? the only one looking like an idiot is the infantile 27 year old coming onto the forum without doing his homework.the line in Top Gun clearly not the same as those in Dazed and Confused. you are making yourself look like an idiot. us mtb guys we were born wearing helmets we dont worry about being dropped on our heads. clearly the only thing in your braincase is just an overinflated ego. run along and stick to jogging. |
