now this is bull shit.. hope is not expensive, ppl who r serious in xc wouldnt go fr Hope in d first place, Hope hubs rm800 vs i9 hubs (upgraded to ceramic bearings) cost almost rm3k and they r super smooth n much lighter than Hope. Hope is durable, long lasting n not that pricey, more suitable fr am-dh rides..for xc u can stil use 'em tho😄
*
so what hubs you got? serious ppl got serious ride, other ppl got other ride. some have hope, others have X king. so what is your point? serious xc ppl ride all sorts of brands of components.
farking bullshit la this!

this is my bike, 2010 xtc, pic isnt update xtually but this is all i haf now.. done some minor upgrades such as replacing my old wtb saddle to tioga spyder, using latex sealant instead of tube, upgraded ceramic bearings to the xt hubs..

[attachmentid=3533157]

hmmm, no serious xc guy would sumbat a Revelation onto a xtc frame that is onl designed for 100mm of travel. perhaps you could lose more weight and save more money with a 100mm fork.

if u good with ur lbs.. sometimes minor one is free... or can be 20-100... otherwise too servere..change rim cheaper.

kakashi, nice GT... where if that GT frame bought?
this is hardcore weight weenies...

fevercrash, why so focus about weight jer.
good spec not necessary has to be weight weenie..

component has to be reliable and strong for hardcore serious xc rider. carbon not necessary has to ultra light.... carbon are used for the reason of being stiffer than aluminum too for better power transfer. lighter are a welcome attribute in some cases.
*
Agree with Broadica!
As Keith Bontrager always says: Strong. Light. Cheap. Pick two. you might like a light bike but it may not give you the kind of ride you'd like, unless all your riding on is your ego (dude check it out my bike only weighs 7001 grams) then how the bike rides, does not matter.

gotta agree with that. doesnt matter how light your bike is, if your legs and lungs are not fit.

Thanks for the input, guys.

Strangely, I was advised differently by some of my cycling friends.

if it is a choice between the rockhopper or the XTC then go for the XTC. your friends probably advised based on the brand.

Damn. Tried friend's Yeti XC carbon bike yesterday doing Kiara 2k loop. Feels so snappy, rear end is super light and can flick through so easily. So agile, good control and maneuvering along hair pins is a breeze. Feels better than my HT and AM rig.  sweat.gif

it is always like that 1. you try old apek punya steel chinabike will also feel better than your HT and AM steeds. so relax lah. unless you print money then ok lah go ahead and buy it! rclxms.gif

Yah... first time trying carbon full sus frame and actually riding it through trail. Feels different, bike is so stiff, controlled and no flex. Feels so good, diff than an Alu frame. The carbon frame feels so lively. Was thinking of saving for a carbon HT bike but after trying out a carbon full susser, now I got second thoughts. But then again I'm afraid of cracking a carbon frame in case of endo, crash  hmm.gif Not that easy to get spare parts here in bolehland.
*
Carbon I'm no expert but should be somewhat durable. But if cracked then buang already. Anybody can confirm?
