I don't think it is wise to invest in residential property beside HSR also. Who take HSR to work everyday?

QUOTE(cy91 @ May 26 2020, 04:52 PM) I don't think it is wise to invest in residential property beside HSR also. Who take HSR to work everyday? In countries e.g Japan, China, Italy, Germany, etc that have hsr for many years, it is not known residential near hsr station is more desirable or value higher. |

"No one is expecting our city to prosper just because we get a new line," said a worker at a grocery store near a train station in Chaoyang, in the northeastern province of Liaoning. Opened in 2018, the station sits in a sleepy area with low passenger traffic and almost no nearby retail shops or hotels. Yet it will host additional service come July.
Chaoyang is a struggling place even for Liaoning, a province suffering from a particularly deep economic slump. Building a new station, and adding new service, in a region without much in the way of industry, only goes to show the lack of profitability-focused planning by a China State Railway that has added track at an annual clip of 10% to 20% in recent years. The network reached about 35,000 km in late 2019. ... Except for service in such major cities as Shanghai, many of China State Railway's high-speed lines are bleeding red ink, with finances particularly weak in such economically struggling regions as Liaoning, China's northernmost province of Heilongjiang, and Inner Mongolia. Among its 18 operating units across the country, 11 posted net losses for the first half of 2019. ... "Local government officials want to achieve economic growth through railway construction during their terms with no regard for how to repay debt," said Zhao Jian, a professor in the School of Economics and Management at rail-focused Beijing Jiaotong University. "Repaying is impossible at this point," Zhao said. https://asia.nikkei.com/ This post has been edited by icemanfx: Jun 16 2020, 01:01 PM |

Muhyiddin: Govt to continue mega projects that don't require more funds
https://www.thestar.com.my/business/busines...p3_jfiRgTLYbhxw QUOTE Which other projects that were previously approved and do not require additional expenditure, are not stopped, instead they will continue. "These include the project that we have decided, namely the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) project, which will stop at various stations, including the Pagoh Education Hub," |

You are actually right, we wont be using it as frequently as we do with MRT/LRT.But can see this as an additional value. IF the price is not much different from the non-HSR area then its a good buy. Else, it may be overvalued. My friend in china says the high-speed train there cost as much as the flight, but they are more prefer to use train due to closer to inner-city (no need travel far to the airport), and no issues with delay (unlike our firefly or malindo) |

SINGAPORE: The Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) project will be discontinued after the HSR agreement lapsed on Dec 31, 2020, the Prime Ministers of both countries said in a joint statement on Friday morning (Jan 1). Both Singapore and Malaysia will now proceed with the "necessary actions". In the statement, Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said: "The Government of Malaysia and the Government of Singapore wish to provide an update on the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore HSR Project in view of the expiry of the suspension period of the HSR Project on Dec 31, 2020. "In light of the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the Malaysian economy, the Government of Malaysia had proposed several changes to the HSR Project. Both Governments had conducted several discussions with regard to these changes and had not been able to reach an agreement. Therefore, the HSR Agreement had lapsed on Dec 31, 2020," the leaders said. "Both countries will abide by their respective obligations, and will now proceed with the necessary actions, resulting from this termination of the HSR Agreement. "Both countries remain committed to maintain good bilateral relations, and cooperate closely in various fields, including strengthening the connectivity between the two countries." Source : CNA |

Peninsular Malaysia is ideal for a High Speed railway, a very big mistake not to do it.
Certainly I talk about the South-North-Corridor, not the ridiculous East Coast Rail Link. |
