If I remember correctly, during 2014, Najib approved we can put unlimited of fund into EPF,
if somebody can put more money into EPF, they will become so rich today.

IF....iffy....EPF will not make you rich. Managing your career and investments will determine how wealthy you get or not.

IF I dump everything into gold 23 Years ago, I will be a deca millionaire 3 times over. laugh.gif

how to compare gold with EPF? shocking.gif

Put all in Public Bank is  better  rolleyes.gif

let's see..

1. Rm100k in KWSP today is ?RM365k+/-

2. Gold in 2002  USD310 x 3.8 = RM1178
Now  USD 3300 x 4.2 = RM13860

so your Gold  100k now is RM1.18 million +/-
3. 2002 PBB share RM1.90 you get 52.6k shares
split bonus consolidate today  = 1.64 million shares

Price now RM4.26 you already  have RM7 million!!

Dividends ? another few million!
*
Only if EPF had been a big major investor of PBB. 😂

EPF will not go bankrupt. The people will. Because the government cannot manage healthcare in the nation, they will allow the people to finance it through the scamming insurance companies and private medical centres,

PETALING JAYA: The government is considering allowing Malaysians to use the funds in their EPF Account 2 to pay for their health insurance premiums, says health minister Dzulkefly Ahmad.

If implemented, it would benefit 16 million EPF members who would have access to private healthcare

“Only a small percentage (from the EPF Account 2) would be used for the insurance payment. Members won’t even feel it as it’s not coming out of their pockets but their EPF accounts.

“This is the best way. At the end of the day, our people will get the necessary coverage, like in Singapore,” he said, reiterating that this would be on a voluntary basis.

Pro : able to ensure members to have health insurance cover, even upon 60 yo withdraw  all EPF & spent everything, still got health insurance running(at least for few years)

Con : Less compounding, investment linked insurance return<EPF, Insurance inflation lagi hebat soon as everyone afford to pay for it thru EPF.

Yeah. The medical centres and insurance companies will be salivating with access to EPF monies.
With the failing public health institutions, the rakyat will be forced to go for insurance to cover their healthcare needs. Most do not have health insurance because they cannot afford it.
Now, they will have access to 'free' money to cover this cost.

If EPF is smart enough...

Should open up some medical center or hospital...

Good money to be made.... After this...

They had some UK properties leased to medical centres and they want to sell them. Smart or not?

In 1983 I started as a graduate engineer with salary of Rm1,200.
Presently the same engineer will receive approx 2,500 to 3,000.
I think its very very low
It's only 2.5% CAGR.
At that time a Toyota Corona was Rm23k.

I don't care how diversified epf portfolio are. Since epf have been consistently been giving out abt at least 5.4 - 5.8%pa. I would just consider epf as a kind of fixed asset portion of my investment portfolio.
I am using my other money for other asset allocations in my portfolio.

For me:
EPF- High CASA
Foreign equity portfolio- higher risk assets
Gold- long-term ringgit inflation hedge

Gold has returned in Runggit terms almost 12% CAGR since 2002.

13MP: Govt considers monthly EPF pensions payout

KUALA LUMPUR (July 31): The government is considering introducing a monthly pension payout under the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), in addition to the current lump-sum withdrawal option, to provide retirees with a more stable income stream.

Adequate retirement savings are crucial to ensure the well-being of workers in their old age. Therefore, a more effective mechanism will be explored to ensure a continuous source of income after retirement, according to the 13th Malaysia Plan report.

“This mechanism will allow for the separation of EPF contributions into two components — retirement savings and retirement pension. Through this effort, workers will be able to withdraw a portion of their savings while also receiving a monthly pension upon reaching retirement age,” the report added.

There already exist a monthly withdrawal option, so what is the difference I wonder? Maybe a form of lifelong annuity like CPF?

I was thinking the same

Maybe its on the way to full annuity payments.

Nothing to worry about.... So said some forumers.

Looks like the joke is on all of us.

We have until Dec 2025 to decide... Those with 1 million and above.
*
I will probably withdraw 80% and leave the rest inside.
What's your take on this, bro?

My late dad always says "a suc*er is born everyday". there's just too many people out there - whether rich or poor just having the mindset of wanting to make money the fast/shortcut way and throw all logic behind..sadly their goal is to earn more, but end up losing much much more. Funny they never stop and think - if got shortcut who would bother with things like Fixed Deposit or EPF (self-contribution)? Sigh
*
Hope i am not your dad! laugh.gif
Yes. Every week we see high net worth suckers including professionals who lose their savings to scams. Recently a lady doctir lost RM8MILLION.

From the article, seems like the separation of retirement savings and retirement pension is only for new contributions. Perhaps like the introduction of Acc 3, they will let you move a portion of your existing EPF money into the pension side (voluntarily), then future contributions will follow certain percentage set by the gomen.
*
They did not explicitly say that. PMX did not say that.
In fact, we already have a monthly withdrawal option. They just want to control the outflows of EPF funds. I guess they need to keep the funds inside for a longer time. And government used the word PENSION. HECK! Does he even understand pension?

AND this is the thing: WHY IS THE GOVERNMENT INTERFERING WITH EPF POLICIES?

Gonna have fun with all the speculation around...

When EPF indeed locked up the $$$.... Comes the usual EPF No money, bankrupt, gomen using the $$$ etc.

So why lock up the money? hmm.gif Pray educate us. biggrin.gif

It will be optional, so just pick the scheme that works best for you

Nothing to worry about. Its BAU.

IF it's optional, then it's good. BUT we don't have the details yet. Thus, the speculation.
