I believed prophetjul has a personal experience here in his successful gold investment,... I suspect he DID make this CAGR,... let him provide his points,...

I don't invest in gold as I do not believe it is really a good investment commodity. Bet there will be many coming back to me saying otherwise. Ha.

Below is the gold price graph. Yes, if invested in gold in 2001 till 2012, one would have made a very high return!

Oh now only realized..
This year would have 2 type of EPF dividend..
Got Islamic & normal one πŸ™

(Saw the post above)

Previously some mention the Islamic one would performed better...

So normal one 6.8%, Islamic 7%??!
*
Yes, that is what I fear, some political fingers in there manipulating the % for their "just" cause! If that one is doing well, they will announce it doing VERY well and thus the higher %!

Even then, if that happens, I will still not regret in staying the with old EPF ac.

Time to make guesses on when they will announce the EPF dividend rate.

My guesses are:
* 5-9 Feb IF the rate is good/high
* 12-23 Feb if the rate is low

Tell you early if the news is good but delay it if the news is bad. Ha.

The amount that was deposited needs to be in before Feb 2018 for me to enjoy the whole month’s dividend is it not so ?

If I remember correctly, EPF is using daily balance rather than minimum monthly balance. Best is to ask EPF.

Out of interest, if we indeed get 7.5% for either the old or new EPF funds, would you go for BeeeeeNnnnnnnnnnnn in GE14 especially you have not voted for them before?

Just wondering how this will impact the Msians in general.

I, for one, will not be influenced by this on who to vote for. These are 2 different issues (EPF n vote).

Now my gut fear is the new one will be higher than the old one. That will really push many over the fence to the oppos side.

QUOTE(kpfun @ Feb 3 2018, 08:56 PM)
Shariah gives higher definitely sounds going to happen.

Think this way, launching shariah was in last year, basically, reallocating partly members' subscription into the fund. And, naturally, the reallocation came with reassigning some current EPF assets to the fund.

EPF hold some good assets, and some are bad.

So, do you believe in, EPF will assign those bad assets to Shariah. or picking the best assets for Shariah?

Such as, some good overseas properties, will go to Shariah, or ratains in convesional? Unless, that properties are non shariah complianced.

WHO MAKES THE DECISION? WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE GETS FROM SUH DECISION?

The answer is pretty clear.

If so, it is an act of sin, cheating, indeed, insulting God's wonderful investment model.

I wonder whether they need to consult and get the final blessing from Ah Jib on the x% as either good or bad numbers will cause some discussions.

Hope my wife is right, with GE14 just round the corner, she feels the % will be the same for the old and new EPF funds as not to upset many voters. Ha.

QUOTE(pearl_white @ Feb 7 2018, 01:01 PM)
Gross investment income (top line only, excl. other income and incomes)
Q1 2017 = RM11.80b
Q2 2017 = RM11.51b
Q3 2017 = RM12.95b
Q4 2017 = RM12.00b (assumed)

Total gross investment income 2017 = RM48.26b

Taking into account of potential upsides in revaluation reserves, impairments, forex gains and zakat and net profit ratios of past trends and payout,

The outcome is about 6.9% - 7.3%.

Gross revenue 2017 is definately a blockbuster since all quarters are double digits compared to prior years!
*
I assume the reported figures are the combined figures for the old and new funds. Will be very interesting if they split the figures into 2 groups.

Anyone with such infor?

[attachmentid=9577224]

As per attachment, keeping it simple, if dividend is 6%, therefore, 6% / 12 mths = 0.005 or 0.5% per mth

Did I get the calculation correct?

I also can't seem to find EPF email to ask them this. Anyone have it?

My 2 cents as below ...

Attached Image

** interest is not compounded monthly. Compounded only yearly.
** I assume you deposit on the first day of the month. Interest is on daily basis.

Hopefully its 7.5% πŸ™

7% also acceptable 😊

EPF CEO stated 6.5 - 7.5% for 2017.

I know that is a range and he is not saying it will be 7.5%

But it is giving members the 7.5% impression. Furthermore, now it will be announced by Ah Jib, to some people like me, it will be a very high number, thus 7.5%! Ha.

I thought they have been in this political public image game long enough to handle this properly. Maybe they have very short memory on things like this?

Just hope for 7.5%. Now even 7.4% will be disappointing for me. vmad.gif ranting.gif puke.gif bangwall.gif cry.gif

Putrajaya to announce highest EPF dividend in 21 years
Read more at https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/411750#jW7wUQhGHYBBh89D.99

Say between 6.8 and 7%.

DISAPPOINTING lah!!!!!

Maybe trimmed down now because of the DJI dips this week? Save some for a better day ahead?

The  dividend says 6.9% can see - but acc 1 doesn't has 6.9 try chking acc 2 also not 6.9

Take the total times again also not 6.9
*
I guess your contributions were not always on the 1st day of every month.

Say your contribution was entered on 10 Jan, then you don't get the dividend for 1, 2 --9 Jan.

How much is the difference, between what you calculated and what is stated in EPF?

Better state in % rather the actual amount as some smart guys here can back calculate how much you have in EPF. Ha.

(EPF dividend-your dividend)/your EPF total

If less than 1 %, my guess the problem is the day issue.

I don't think the problem is with EPF, they use the same program for all members here.

Good luck.

P/S If you like, give me your data and I can check for you. 101% private and confidential! Ha.

Wonder how those opt for Shariah feels...
Since the dividend rate is below from the conventional one 😎

That question came to my mind yesterday as well.

It is not just the new fund getting a lower % but also what the CEO said, 6.5 to 7.5%. Now it is even lower than 6.5% That 6.5-7.5% came from the CEO! Surely he knew the inside numbers in the top management circle.

May be , just may be, there was a last few days change due to the dips in DJI, to save some for a better tomorrow. Supposed to be 7 & 7.5%?

Ah Jib was supposed to announce the good news but later it was not him, due to the revised numbers?

The above seem to point to that, yes, I can jump to conclusion making 1+1=11. Ha.

Wonder how the non muslim who switched to the new fund are reacting to this 6.4%. I don't mean to add salt to injury, just curious.

P/S Say you are the CEO, would you announce the 6.5-7.5% rate while knowing one of them is 6.4%?

A friend asked about the EPF dividend calculation. I did a simple spreadsheet for him. For those interested, see below.

No fancy layout, just a simple spreadsheet to get the job done.

Cross check with my own EPF dividend, the calculated no is slightly higher than EPF's. But only 0.009% higher. So good enough for me.
