Using RM167k per account, that is now about RM25 billion. 1/4 way there!

Rather quick in my view (if the 167k per account is correct).

Asking myself when I read the news this morning on EPF allowing members to withdraw more money for their houses, will that result in EPF having less money to invest?

Another question comes to mind, how much cash does EPF hold in their daily operation? Why? This money is not working for us at all! Ha.

Scary reading this, partly due to my ignorance of the subject. What is " to help protect against volatilities in foreign currency and exchange rates"? How does it help to protect?

BB
Did a quick review on EPF a few weeks ago. See below.

Attached Image

The red and green lines are the average +/- 1 std deviation lines. A guide where about 66% of the data should be. If above the red line, good news! If below the green line, gloomy news in coming EPF yearly announcement! Ha.

My gut feel is 5.7-6% for 2016.

Based on the chart supplied by Plumberly,

the chart shows the revenue in 2016 has dropped to the level similar to 2012. If we look back at 2013 dividend rate, which is 6.35% and factoring an early election, the KWSP dividend rate for 2016 should be between 6.00 to 6.50%.

My guess is as such.

My 2 cents....

I don't think it is one to one correlation here. Even if we got the same revenue as in 2013, now they have a bigger capital base and then the dividend will be smaller.

But I will always welcome a higher %!

Thanks.

************************************

a. Eligible amount:
Minimum RM1,500.00 or RM250.00 per
month.
b. Payment Period:
Minimum of 6 months and maximum of 12
months
c. Payment Date:
25th of every month – as per Age 55 Years
Combination Withdrawal (Monthly Payment)
d. If the annual dividend is less than
RM1,500.00, the annual dividend application
will be automatically cancelled

***************************************

They transfer on the 25th of every month. Lugi mah, interest is calculated on the lowest monthly balance. Will be better if they allow us to specify the withdrawal date. 1st of every month will be the best for us to minimise dividend lost.

I am rather surprised and shocked at the BIG Q3 revenue considering the low Q1 and Q2 figures. Good indeed but ... hmm.gif

With the global economy trending downwards, Q3 comes out as the second highest in EPF history. That is very commendable. rclxm9.gif

True?

Or is this creative accounting (eg using past years carryover dividend, higher overseas assets in US$) to paint a better picture for the coming QE14?

I expect Q4 to be 10.7 - 14.5 billion. If it is at the higher end of my estimate, then QE14 may be 6 months away? Ha.

If I read it correctly, says the stock market contributed about 50% of Q3 revenue. I thought KLCI was not doing that well in Q3 looking at the index. Maybe from the good timing in buying and selling?

P/S One will say this guy is really hopeless, complain when EPF does not perform. Complain also when it announces high revenue! Ha.

don't think EPF does like ASx, c/fwd income from previous years..

well I guess EPF previous sales of foreign assets contributed the positive results..

and boss, their stock market exposure is not only KLCI.. but also North Asian and developed markets devil.gif

Using the average +/- 1 standard deviation to give me a graphical view of the performance, Q3 and Q1+Q2+Q3 as shown above.

Like I said before, if it is above the red line, then good news, if between the red and green lines, OK news, if below the green line, bad news. Ha.

Q3 performance is good news.

Overall Q1-Q3 performance is OK news. But inching towards the good news as it is just below the red line.

Any one here knows how many RM billion is invested overseas (stock markets, shares etc)?

I want to get some estimate on the "false" gain due to the higher US-RM exchange rate.

Thanks.

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has sold off all its shares in the troubled Felda Global Ventures (FGV).

"In line with best practices, we have been closely monitoring the equity performance of FGV over the years and have gradually sold down our shareholding.

"As of today, the EPF no longer holds any share in FGV," the fund said in a statement today.

On the RM6.5 billion loan that EPF provided to Felda Holdings, the fund said repayments on the loan were regularly being made.

"The EPF confirms that the RM6.5 billion loan taken by Felda Holdings is not in default and Felda continues to service the loan in accordance with the agreed terms and conditions," the statement said.

The fund also urged EPF members to not be misled by rumours.

FGV was listed on Bursa Malaysia with much fanfare in mid-2012, debuting at RM5.39. At the time, it was touted as one of the biggest initial public offerings in the world for that year.

Within two years, FGV's share price halved, following a drop in commodity prices and downstream losses. At the time of writing, it is priced at RM1.62.

EPF was among the early investors in FGV, reportedly having up to a 6.8 percent stake.

FGV remains the third largest palm oil producer in the world. However, the company has been in the red in recent years.

Surprised at the pull out by EPF. I thought everyone should stay together through good and bad time. Ha.

Ah Jib allowed this?

BB
Don't follow FGV performance. The 50% price drop in 2014 with 6.8% stake must be painful for EPF and all the contributors. Just imagine the higher EPF % we would have got if no FGV stake by EPF.

Hope EPF will shake off all these poor performing companies with mega thick stainless steel political spider web chains!

Wonder who are the major guys still in FGV.

Kwap too.. TH I'm not sure about it..

Cannot imagined how much loss EPF made by selling off fgv shares? cry.gif
*
My rough estimate on the loss ..

6.8% = 200 million shares

Say paid RM5 each share, share is now RM1.6, loss = 3.4*200 million = RM0.68 billion!

Assume they pay dividend, then loss is less.

Gee ..... BESAR/BANYAK ini!

Sure it would effect upcoming dividend hmm.gif

Looked up FGV historical prices.

Not much drop Dec 2015 vs Dec 2016

Big drop Dec 2013 vs Dec 2014

The loss was already captured in 2014 dividend. So we will not see the big loss in 2016 dividend.

Hopefully.

At age of 60, we can withdraw all out from EPF.
What if we did not withdraw all from EPF at age 60?
*** It is up to you whether you want to withdraw partial or all from EPF once you have reached 60.

1. From there forward, will EPF still pays us yearly dividend?
*** Yes, till age 100 from the  recent news.

2. If I decided to withdraw at age 61, can I do so? If yes, whats the amount can i withdraw out at age 61, 62, etc... ?
*** Yes. Amount is up to you, subject of course to what is available in your ac.

*
Best is to drop in at EPF office and fire all your questions at them. Ha.
