IMO, those who hv >1M in EPF (which I believe most sifus & bros here do) should continue to self contribute as much as possible. In case one comes across more attractive investment prospects elsewhere, then its fairly easy to withdraw the excess and transfer it to the alternative investment prospects.
*
And those who r above 55/60.

Income is down, but the capital may also be down due to withdrawals. So the statement means nothing.

Aum of 900b includes those monthly contributions and special withdrawal that should earn only partial dividend?

point is that it works just like your normal bank account when counting interest, but you just need to imagine that all deposits only get processed on the last day of the month (unlike withdrawals).

something like this. 5 minute example. intent is to make it easy to understand. feel free to improvise.

I did online transfer on 29 Dec expecting EPF to credit on 1 Jan so not breach the limit but I was wrong.
If say EPF credit it on 30 Dec & hold till 3 Jan, it is 5 days dividend at 4.88%.
Anywhere I like your calculation of 6.10% & hope this is a hint for 2022 dividend. biggrin.gif

U can check online the dates the amount is credited n debited n let us know

EPF stat did not capture these 2 trans.
Sorry used up my 3 post today as new member. Will resume later.

You were using EPG's IAkaun or bank's online banking? Deposit into EPF via IAkaun is shown 1 or 2 days later.

For my IAkaun deposit using fpx on 26(Thur),27,28,29(Sun) of Jan all were credited 1 day later irrespective of weekday or weekend. All were done after 10pm. I wonder any diff if done in the morning.

For deposit via M2U on 27Jan(Fri) it was only credited on 30Jan(Mon).

Won’t work.

If you do like that , T20 will just withdraw the money until the level they can get the highest dividend.

For example , first 500,000 full dividend , those with millions will empty their epf until 500000

It’s going to trigger a bank run , which means EPF will forced to pay lower dividend - totally defeating the intention of paying more dividends to B40

Declare >6% then people who need money would withdraw from Amanah Saham or TH instead of EPF.

Of course when when we are discussing diversification to oversea assets, we assume that they can afford to do so.

Even then. one can remove a bit of EPF such as those i removals, and invest some of these in foreign currencies.

Not advsing them to move all of their EPF over. But to DIVERSIFY.
I started my foreign diversification quite recently in 2008/09 to SG.
So far, it has worked as far as hedging against the poor MYR is concerned. That is the only objective of my diversification, ie that is hedge against what we know is a depreciating currency.

And from the charts since the 70s, SGD has been on a perpetual uptrend. This lends some perspective to the future.
Nothing is for sure. But it seems to be still the status quo for SGD/MYR ratio. Uptrend.
*
How do you treat these foreign assets in your will?

Just forex alone, SGD/MYR is 3% CAGR since 2008.

SGD long term treasuries last 10 years is average 2%.
*
For a total of 3+2=5%? Epf average was >5%. Sorry can compare this way?

Cant remember now, think they all did better than MYR, maybe except Yen.

Since 2003, JPY vs MYR neck to neck. But GBP & EUR worst than MYR, at 1 point 1GBP > MYR 7.

Here's your tiered dividend. Extra ~5% for those below 10k.

U mean the 500 extra for those with below 10k comes from the dividend pool n not from govt?

Maybe not directly. But...gov borrow from EPF Rm1bil and pay these EPF holders the 1bil and give EPF 4% interest rate.
Is this from div pool? Maybe not.
*
If that is the case then it is not cos epf has been doing that.
