Long term wise, not a good idea to use EPF for investment cos ~5% dividend will be negated by deteriorating economy n weak RM. Unless we have better govt to reverse that.

Say EPF dividend is less than 6% and I am quite optimistic that FD can reach 4.5, maybe more. One may be willing to forgo the <1.5% difference.
*
For those >55/60, epf is just like a CASA n more versatile than FD. Moreover it is also a good estate planning vehicle.

THE 27b income is based on a smaller pool of members' holdings due to massive withdrawals during mco. Anyone know how much it affects those who didnt withdrawal?

I think you are right, even if liquidating any among this 35% to 40% will still earn EPF currency appreciation today,...

my recollection is similar to yours.... i remember my mom took my savings from CNY and placed it as FD with Public Finance... and it was like 13% pa type. the sad part is my mom refused to place it for 10 years FD even though I told her to (as a teenager, I had no rights. haha)

one of the earliest financial mistake I made... not adult enough to take charge of my own financial situation.

bond yields may have climbed to 20%... the longer tenored ones... but I doubt FDs did.

Iirc those high-interest fd were for short period only.

Do tell me if this contribution will make it in time....

cos if it is sent today, i have the impression that it will only be reflected the next biz day, which is 2nd of Jan 2023.
*
If that is the case, will only get 1 day dividend for the full month of Jan2023?

i got this from the web,...

About Age 55 Withdrawal
Upon reaching age 55, the contributions made to your Account 1 and Account 2 will be consolidated into Account 55.
You can withdraw all or part of the savings from this account at any time.
Should you choose to continue working after the age of 55, all further contributions you make will be credited in your Akaun Emas, to be withdrawn only upon reaching age 60.

About Age 60 Withdrawal
This withdrawal is an extension of the Age 55 Withdrawal, and caters for those who have opted for later retirement and continue working after 55 years old.
At age 60, all the savings accumulated in Akaun 55 and Akaun Emas will be consolidated for withdrawal.
You have an option to make a lump sum or partial withdrawal at any time to fund your retirement.

I think u meant december? I am fine in not getting any dividend for that contribution on december. I am only unsure if this portion will be calculated for dividend starting from january itself or february. Allthough logically it will count from january, else how did it appear as december 2022 contribution.
*
I meant January, description is december cos u bank in that month, and since it was credited in 4Jan u only get 1day for January. That is my understanding.

Wah! Unker no agree man.....Unker just realized.

For a start, Unker want to have same-same Stars under our names....why so many forumers got 8 Stars? Some even 10 Stars!

Unker senior already n really put so much effort in forum, only 4 Stars? Why cannot be same....oso Bro Wolves, within such short term, but provide so much lessons in ASNB, EPF threads, only has 2 Stars?

Should we all recalibrate to just 2 Stars, although you started contributing much, much earlier?

Actually, Unker very senang...Lady boss no come work this week.Lepak! Unker going to read up merits of Socialism.
