white elantra 1.8 owner logging in. Didn't discover this forum until lately, so here's my take on my korean babe for the last 6 months (>10K km) that i own it.

The Good:
-cabin soundproofing is awesome, engine is quiet (i actually forgot to off my engine a few times after parking, so was curious y i cannot lock my door  ).
-Steering is very "light", makes city driving smooth, n parking is easy too.
-Small things that i like r the quick 3 blink indicators (useful when changing lanes), sunroof is useful to quickly cool down the car when parking in open carpark, u can wind down the car window before turning the engine on, best storage for sunglasses, ur starbucks coffee, chewing gum, mineral water n phone charging.
-I drive my babe on highways n city regularly, so FC wise its abt 9.1L/100km. i think this is average for a 1.8 car. use caltex; tried petronas & shell, n they both don't work well for me as i regularly go uphill n downhill a lot n the car feels got more power using caltex.
-And she's a Korean babe with great looks!
The Bad:
-Lousy HU. This i feel is the biggest mistake of getting these cheaply made HU into the car, spoil the feel. So far it had switched modes on me many times (when i'm watching movies on my USB halfway thru, the sound switches to radio channel  ). Sound quality is also non existent. The interface looks very ulu.
-Potholes is its worst enemy. The car actually does feel like the wheels will come off even when u go thru a small sized pothole. Saw some bros here saying attach a dampener to the suspension at tire shop can solve the issue, so will give it a try when i go for my next alignment.
-SC does not provide tire services or air con service. Kind of sad tat they dun even have these, as with my previous Honda, even tho they charge a a bit above market rate, but still i'm willing to pay coz everything all gets done in one place, one day.
-the auto wipers r good for highway driving, but lousy for city driving. i wish they added in the wiper interval feature rather than just auto, normal, n fast speed.
-I actually prefer the backseat release buttons to be accessible inside the cabin rather than from the trunk. U go to the trunk, release the latch, then walk back to cabin, pull the seat down n arrange, then walk back to trunk to load ur stuff. See the extra work?

What extra work i have done:
Put in Huper Optik tinting. Have to admit the tinting guy was right, with this one the view actually is much clearer, much like wearing a polarized sunglasses. Also did PPS coating (white color mah), n trust me its a worthwhile investment due to the birds in malaysia eat too much nasi lemak or something n keep pangsai all the time, n when u r stuck behind a bas kilang or a big fat lorry blowing black smoke n oil onto ur car, u really want to wipe if off easily n quickly.

Next on the menu is to upgrade the HU, so looking for some suggestions here. BTW, i'm in Penang. I listen to classical music a bit in the car (wanna act smart sometimes  )

Bro, are u using petron for ur car? I been using shell ron95 since I got my car, and its getting around 11l/100km for a 100% city drive, not sure is it the best I can get. Well, most petrol station around my area are shell.

I've not tried petron before, is it more powerful and quiet compares to others?

I've a friend working as chemical engineer is a O&G company say that so far the best fully-synthetic oil is from Mobil 1. I tried that on my old proton car and the engine is quieter and less vibration. But not many workshop carry Mobil 1.

I have a question here. Does SC allow us to bring our own engine oil for them to change? will it void engine warranty?

maybe the oil pump...coz it happened to me this morning...so not related to engine oil i guess...hope its not a sign of faulty oil pump...

Don't think it's oil pump issue. I had just changed my oil pump + filter during my 40K service.
Car has slight improved FC. The parts was surprisingly affordable around 78 only.
DO change regularly since our national petrol is ahemm .. 

Guys, my push start button is not lighted even though the engine is started.Was there before but is gone now. Anyone experience the same issue? Starts as usual just not lighted on the button. Thanks.

My first full tank runs only 400km with 45 litres, which means the FC would be 11.3l/100km... So much higher than yours 

Hi, Im from SUbang Jaya.. Interested with the Elantra 1.6 (A). Any promo or rebate now?

My car was recently knocked and the rear bumper was scratched. From the outlook, the bumper do not seemed to be dented. My question is, is it safe to get the bumper repaired/repainted in a non-Hyundai body and paint workshop. I'm just afraid that those workshop might screw up the car as it is relatively new in the market.

A quick check with them there is only 2 service centre which provide body and paint workshop service at Old Klang Road and Glenmarie only and the price is also pretty expensive.

The person who bang my car is a student so he might not be able to fork out the expenses in full if the price is hefty.

If everything is fine n got ready stock u should be getting your car in 2-3days time, just like myself i book on 7 oct n got it on 10 oct becos ready stock n my loan approve earlier ( transfer from my booking from honda city) but mine is 1.6hs.  

Regret no but the car is slighty under power when pick up n the sound system is bad other than that i am more happier than my stupid vios 08 model n lucky i didnt buy city even. This car is very quiet, n so far for 5days driving so good. ya why the front passenger seat belt always knocking the side of the car body. Any ideal to prevent it.

Actually i am using vios n decided to change 2 city but cant wait for city becos sold of the car n city side keep on postpone my delivery n went to test HE n like it. By the way can i change the spark plug 2 iridium plug n can anyone here know the plug
model n number.
