Frequently Asked Question on what kind of bikes to get:

1) Aluminum bike - 10 speed Tiagra (maybe mixed Tiagra - Sora), priced around RM3k up- this would be the absolute lowest point i would say to start from... any lower and you will land outside of 10speed equipment and any upgrades will certainly be more than the difference you saved not buying this bike.. shimano launched tiagra with 10speed beginning of this year making this a considerable choice... also, this grade of bike will have a more common grade of cockpit (handlebar, stem, seat post, saddle) and cheaper wheels

2) Aluminum bike - 10 speed 105 (maybe mixed 105 - Tiagra), priced around RM3.8k up- most likely the same frame above with a different paint livery, this would be an entry level into shimano's definition of competition components... tiagra would be what they called the top tier among the enthusiast group.. although both 10 speed... but materials and feel... tiagra has a shift indicator while the 105 does not hence giving you a pro feel (what the bike shop will tell you)...mostly.. tiagra has a bit more plasticky bits than 105... some slightly more expensive models might even start offering slightly better wheels like mavic aksiums along with better slightly better graded cockpit...

- i would not try and go past 105 on a aluminum bike... the best brands like specialized or bmc will be selling an aluminum bike equipped with 105 for a little over RM5k... going 1 notch up into ultegra will lead you to start looking into higher end bikes as those bikes will surely creep past RM6k and most likely a mismatch between frame and component grades... you will be practically trying to pair a set of RAYS CE28N onto a Perodua Myvi if you get what i mean in car terms...

3) Carbon bike - 10 speed 105 (possibly not full 105), priced around RM7k up- this would be a foray into performance bicycles... although a carbon frame... but this are not the best carbon has to offer for 2 reasons... carbon cloth grade (less modulus, less weave, lower grade binding agents) and the man power / time needed (less complex layup schedules) to layup the carbon layers into producing a frame... basically a mass produced frame with the lowest production cost possible... not all that bad... it should still be on par if not better with the best of the aluminum frames in terms of stiffness.. basically, component should be similar or slightly better than the aluminum 105 bike depending on the price you pay...

- here i would name one which shocked me quite a bit recently... saw this Look 566...this http://www.lookcycle.com/en/int/route/velo...-bike-2013.html , but i guess a previous year model...... carbon frame with Mavic Aksium wheels... not a complete 105 with some downgraded cranks and calipers... a carbon frame with comfort geometry retailing for RM7.1k if my memory serves me right...

- price is slightly high for some people... but if you look at it...maybe under 30% more if you are looking at a Apex or 105 equipped Specialize Allez

4) free for all - death - bankruptcy - you name it...
- step into this and there will be no return...

Beside on the modern roadbike, there's also classic roadbike that worth to consider, if you're classic roadbike lover.

at best, this is considered a classic remake...

with columbus tubing at least... if there is any chance that anyone still makes a bike with reynolds 531 tubing, even better...

it has to be small round tubes and lugged in order to qualify as classic...

QUOTE(butthead @ Jan 31 2013, 10:34 AM)
if you sacrifice going to ass watching  doh.gif  i meant RPM class... you might reach there faster...

and it has the doraemon blue... how can you not be tempted???
*
oh...

QUOTE(butthead @ Jan 31 2013, 10:42 AM)
it can't be RM2.50 per class rite... the membership to the gym would have at least cost close to RM1xx per month...

+ petrol
+ parking
+ time you lost making side income
+ time and chance you lost to take a good rest
+ additional money you need to spend taking supplements or protein shake at the gym bar
+ the emotional damage cause by thinking why you can never own that ass that you are staring the whole RPM session
+ psychiatrist fees which is not cheap, if you fall into depression over-thinking about that ass you longed for so long and yet you could not have it...

so... it's not cheap in short...
*
oh my god. You have shoot every items right for 1st 2 items... haha...

- what side income can do? you got kang tao?
- its just 45 mins, and i sleep by 10:30pm.
- im already taking supplement and protein for better endurance in ultra running and cycling...
- eh, fyi, i already have a nice ass that each every gay pipu want to get! wahaha...
- when fall into depression, running / cycling can help me to climb out from depression... so no spending on psychiatrist
now i'm regret on what i did...

its just part n parcel of my life...

QUOTE(butthead @ Jan 31 2013, 10:57 AM)
it's a big un-escapable loop you see...

you pay to get in which in theory is the smallest of damages, and the asses in the RPM classes will bind you emotionally to the RPM class so much that you won't be able to leave it like it is a drug addiction and even if they increase price, you keep on returning and returning...so you get sucked deeper and deeper into the belly of the beast...

like vin_ann... now aiming to complete 32 classes so he can stare at those asses straight for 3 hours in a special class that needs qualification to get in... he is getting suckered into it...

what is the worst thing that can happen if i buy a doraemon??? buy another one???
*
now im stopped at 18th class. im was like awake from nightmare... no point chasing 32 sessions just to be in the 3 hours ass staring class... i better go running / cycling for 3 hours to get much better satisfaction !

other people are dam bloody free, they have completed 32 sessions and now they going for another 32 sessions!

i use lots of rp7 and scrub it with those "abalone brush"...

RP7, soak, scrub, rinse,
dish washing detergent, scrub, rinse again,
RP7 again, scrub, rinse final time

scrubbing has to run the brush through the top of chain, bottom and also the both sides of the lingkage plates (1 time against cassette, 1 time against small chain ring)

the 2nd time you spray the RP7 should be very clear, not blackish liquid dripping from your chain... it's a lot of wastage... slightly oily to touch after wash, but quite clean for me...

the article says it is bikes between the range of 1500 and 2000 quids...

how much it costs here you have to ask the shops... seldom see doraemons around... or vin_ann might know as he is a  doraemon fan
*
Giant brand is hopeless in Klang Valley. Unless you're in Penang / North...

Dont bother to spend precious time just look for Doraemons brand ya... unless there's a shop nearby ur place example: Samy bike shop at Batu Caves, Giant concept store @ Wangsa Walk....

now the main running event is over, i can resume my cycling activities lightly....
