QUOTE(Patent @ Feb 5 2015, 07:40 PM) No popup flash maybe? The word pentax also seems like pasted only No popup flash probably. This thing was 3D printed, so they put on a Pentax sticker. They are still designing the camera, trying to find which form is best I suppose, where the buttons should go... I'd expect it to be about as wide as a K-3, but taller. We'll have to see...

Pentax K-S2 also coming. Better looking than previous version IMO. The retractable WR kitlens looks real good. http://digicame-info.com/2015/02/k-s2.html This post has been edited by Patent: Feb 6 2015, 05:17 PM

I do hope they follow up on this naming scheme. Give different lines different letters... i.e. full frame could be F, one digit cameras L or P and two digit cameras X. And then just start counting with 1... and follow consequently. No more stupid names that are all over the place. I wonder why this isn't the successor to the K-50 though... it looks very much like one. What can we expect for the K-50 successor?

Apart from the higher mp count and the built in wifi, is just not too convincing to go for this rather than the K-5iis or a used K-3. Completely different form factor, user interface, etc. It is much closer to the K-50 than to the K-S1.

Is just my persona opinion. No offense. I guess by judging from probably the same sensor, and most obviously the same name K-S which indicates it as K-Style category. Pentax really wants to separate this from the K-30 I guess. Otherwise they could just go for a more straight forward name like K-70 or so but they didn't. Probably the K-S2 is to replace the screw up K-S1. Not only the design, but probably the interface as well. And with the K-S2, they fixed it with a more familiar interface I suppose. Pardon me if I am wrong. Did not put much time to study the K-S2. It has been cloak by the future Pentax FF. Anyway I am glad that Ricoh did not disappoint us. This year should be a good year for Ricoh/Pentax. The sleeping giant has awaken. Cheers bro.....

Mh. I think this is either the K-50 successor, or the brother of the K-50 successor, with more flamboyant styling (racing stripes!). It will run in parallel to the K-S1, which is really trying to be a mirrorless camera... with a mirror.
The way I understand what they set out to do with the K-S line is to have all sorts of experimental cameras, they can try out different things there. Models within that line don't have to be related to each other.
Maybe with the K-S2 they are trying out WiFi, NFC and a flippy screen, things which the K-50 successor may be missing.

Agreed with you bro kadajawi. Pentax probably still have tones of stocks for the K-30 thus would want a direct K-30 sucessor to canabalise the sales. Cheers....

The important question is how expensive would it be? If it is priced under 5k,it would get many people to be interested.
