Yup, I can confirm, the 50mm is fun as a walkaround lens It also lets in quite a lot of light. I just find that my K-5 has trouble focusing with it... even during daylight it isn't always as precise as I'd like it to be, at least at 1.8 the focus is often somewhere else. Once you reach 2.2, 2.8 it is a very sharp lens though (even at 1.8 it's not too bad, if the camera would have focused properly). Easily the sharpest I have. Have you tried half press the shutter once "beep" then release and half press it again to fine tune the focusing? I notice this issue too on the K-5. Especially with the Tamron 17-50. Now I do this all the time with every lens. Just my 2 cents. Cheers bro........

I'm using the AF button and have deactivated the beep, but I think yes, I've pressed it several times. Will give it another try.

By now many of you should have known the various items that will be released by Pentax this year. Hopefully there will be more lenses for DSLR later. Based on today's press release from Pentax, we already know some details about what we can expect at the show. Prototypes of the products listed below will be shown as a "referential exhibition" and will be officially announced later this year. A new 645D medium format camera with a CMOS sensor and a tilting LCD monitor, two features that hint at this new camera being equipped with live view. The new 645D will also have a faster processor than its predecessor. This new camera should become available in the Spring of 2014. An ultra-wide angle zoom lens for the 645D A telephoto macro lens for the Q-System A film copier accessory for DSLR cameras allowing for convenient copying of 35mm as well as medium format (120/220) film

IIRC one of their last reviews was along the lines of "we're still studying it, have no plans on bringing it to market any time soon. APS-C is great. FF is a tiny portion of a small market in which we are a small player. FF doesn't make sense for Pentax."
To be honest I have no interest at all in a FF camera. The only way they could get size and weight to where it'd have to be for me would be to make it mirrorless... at which point it looses the main advantage for FF cameras for me (big viewfinder... when it's electric, even a smartphone sensor can have a huge viewfinder).

I've the same perception like you but when I tried the Sony A7 at KLCC, it was pretty good. Both the ergonomics and the electronic viewfinder is acceptable. I think Sony did a good job by coming out with this FF Mirrorless. I would have bought it that day if not because of the K-5. The K-5 is adequate for me, at least for now.
