Yeah..feel the power is there and what surprises me is the handling. The cabin is spacious and quite quiet and comfy.
The Nasim GPS will cost about RM4.8k if i am not mistaken and I think its a bit pricey. But I like for the fact that they are offering 5 years free service. For that I believe its the selling point for me and the price of the car.

Sadly I drive a 2005 Satria SE. Dunno how much will it fetch in the market if i want to trade in.
*
Why don't you try and sell it yourself. Might get round $15K,trade in will be lower!

Yeah Nasim GPS is pricey. It's probably a China made, Nasim making more than 100% profit. I think most of are holding back.

hang on. the price quoted for the gps is not official/accurate and nasim is still working on the pricing. it is not even offered for sale officially yet. so, wait a while more. should be announced soon.

Tks for the info. biggrin.gif

And I'm smiling along the way up and down..  biggrin.gif

Nah..I told the SA that I need some time to think over. Need to get rid of my Satria first before I can think of buying a new car. But overall I like the car. Better than Lancer that I drove a couple of years before.
*
Lancer is no comparison with the 408NA, and a lame duck against the 408t.

Hi guys,

I saw someone shared this post in FB. The useful life for timing chain is how long esp for 408? At which km we need to check eg every 60k, 80k or 100k?

I hope that this case is an isolated one.
*
The problem mentioned is on the older 1.6THP engine. Your engine is different, EW10A+ is an improved version of the reliable 2 liter engine on the 407.

The problem lies with the carbon built-up, not with the timing chain. The carbon built-up on the intake valves stresses the timing chain and causes it to snap.
*
These problems are on the older 1.6THP. EP6CDTM has been modified and successfully bench tested to 60K km. None of these issues exist.

Seriously,  how long can a timing b
chzinwithheld before snapped in our 408t?  Already 1year and I m experiencing so many problems, 20k to repair is a lot.
3.7.2013 gonna send in my car for turbo kit repair. Called and emailed for courtesy car but still no reply. Really bad service,
*
In theory the timing chain has a very long life span. It does not need to be changed periodically like the timing belt. Only needs tension adjustments.

Timing chain problems faced by Prince engine is a result of related issues, not defect timing chain itself. Lemons do appear in the law of average.

Forgive me if I am wrong but 408T and 508 shares the same 1.6T engine yes? Naturally it will feel less powerful, I went for a test drive on 408T and I like it very much but I prefer the 508 looks more. and it comes with more gadget. I can go for 408 no problem but need to save more DP for 508 hehe,
*
You are not wrong, but half right. Both are 1.6THP Prince engine. The Prince on the 408 has been given a serious make over, total of 8 mods. All these mods has improved reliability of the engine and 7hp more. From our group in this forum, there's only one complaint about this engine. That's pretty good considering there are 85 408t.

508 is about luxury,408t is sporty sedan.

Personally I think the Citroen C5 has similar designs to a 407.

Both cars have long bonnet and short boot.
*
Having tested both,I can say the are very different.

407 has excellent handling and comfort. Beats most Pugs of today cos of it double wishbone suspension. How I wish my 408t has this. One immediately gets a sporty feel sitting in the car. Only draw back is the NA engine, rather lethargic for it damn good sporty looks.

C5 has luxury all over, miles apart from the 407. Great engine. The high driver seating position gives it a sedan feel and drives like a sedan. As you know, magic carpet is lost, which is sad!

Did you know that the C5 has double wishbone at the front and multi-link at the rear?

I didn't know that. No wonder price difference is large!

No. I didnt ask. Just saw it from the appointment list displayed on the reception desk.

Apparently,  I m not the first to get my turbo kit replaced.  Owner number 8408 silver had his car parked inside the workshop for turbo replacement too.

Hopefully to collect my car tomorrow evening.

* some correction here,  my car so have the turbo but the compression is lesser than it supposed to have.  I got to know if is about 0.9bar. I m not sure, maybe someone can give a link to the exact compression.

Regards
*
Quite a number of early 308t encountered turbo problems. Even cracked outlets. 408t turbos were redesigned. I think major problems are solved, guess it needs some fine tuning.

Has to change my battery. 1year and 4days.....damn! Out of warranty by 4days!

Sending my car for 20k service end of July.  Good luck to me.
Some Q wanna ask... our 408 batt is covered by the plastic cover, one of the outlet is hidden. So if wanna jump start the car, needa remove the plastic cover? Difficult to remove?
*
During 20K service found battery weak. Got it changed, warranty over by 4 days. Paid $482 ( Batt:$455 fixing $27 ) for Delkor.

I was told it cost rm14000 for the replacment of turbo. Of cos its foc for me but I have yet to collect my car.so, stay tuned for updates.

skyjack, I guess bynlw we have to accept the turbo kits and peugeot cars have too many defects namely loss of turbo, loosen screws(screw went missing at the front passenger door), additiomal screws in the boot lid (happened to me), rattling sound, rear brake disc (scratch line), battery (replaced a new one at 10.5 month of ownership), etc.

of cos, the same things/issues also happened on other car makers. I dont have the stastics to provewhich car makers having the most defective parts or problem and vice versa. Nonetheless, peugeot cars are not really in good quality givrm the high priceof the cars offered here in malaysia.

still, I m satisfied with the performance of this engine and the good handling of 408t.
lastly, its the warranty, to comfort myself futher, at least peugeot has changed a battery worth rm550, and a set of rear disc worth (rm500 maybe), and gonna change tubo worth rm14000. My car is worth more than it is priced initially, hahahha. A very lame joke. But it does make me feel better.

cant wait to collect my car tomorrow. Hopefully the technician does not disappoint me.or else, m gonna wait until thursday or friday only can collect my car.

I understand your situation and frustration of the number of defects you have faced on your car. The positive aspect is that it is all being fixed. We must appreciate the value of warranty.

I wouldn't say Peugeots are poor quality.Poor quality would mean many are facing a number of defects, which is not the case. You were unfortunate to face these problems. No manufacturer has 100% QC,and you know this too. At the same time,I know your exact feeling.

Hope everything get fixed and your car runs well soon after!

anyway, i've also heard actual stories about how the world no 1 car manufacturer denying their owners from claiming warranty.

like skyjack said, sometimes it is just luck for having a not so perfect car to begin with rclxub.gif

Bro imifun, I would give Michelin a try. Heard it help reduce the harshness and improve comfort. If you do Michelins, give us your feedback.

There is a new product from Michelins. Michelins 3ST. Tuned for silent and comfort, while not bad in gripping.
If want performance, heard Michelins PS3 not bad.

Any idea on cost for Michelin 3ST.

Thank you for your help.

if I renew it myself at kurnia or etiqa online, do I need to bring the cover note to maybank (my loan is from maybank) to retrieve car registration card in order to renew road tax? I remember I read from somewhere that we do not to do that now. Just bring cover note to pos office and can renew road tax already. Anybody know about this?

Trying to save that 10%. Cost about rm300.
*
No need cover not. Tell Maybank you want to keep the registration card. Legally only the owner has the right to hold registration card. I took my card from the bank.

looks like both dongfeng and gm seem to be holding back. perhaps to drive share prices lower first before making the offer.

Both, Yanks and Chinese play hard ball. It must be to drive price as low as possible.
