Oh good. How is the finishing ? Which SC ?
*
Balakong SC. Its just a small dent. They do better finishing, need to sand and re-coating that area. Then re-spray the whole bonnet that costs RM580. I didn't ask about the type of paint used. So I get him to touch up the dent with paint nia. Not very obvious from far.

408 was designed and aimed at slightly higher income group whereas the Polo Sedan (Vento) was developed specifically for the Indian market as a cheap entry level econobox. VW Malaysia, in all its infinite wisdom, decide to bring this car in and price it at a ridiculous level. Obviously their strategy for this car backfired, serves them right too.
*
Zweimmk, on that note, I agree! And good way to put it "all its infinite wisdom"....hahaha

M still at Glenmarie service center.
registered 8.45am this mornign and waited for 15 minutes before my number is being called. There was no clients around, Why the long wait? Because there was only 2 Staff manning the counter and the receptionist (2 Service technicians). Why? I was told many of them resigned within a week due to management issue.

Waited until 11.45am and saw my car parked at car wash bay.( i have told the SA not to wash my car ). I guess they just don't listen.

reported problem :
1. steerling loose
2. disc plate with deep scratch line
3. smelly inside even internal air circulation is turned on.
4. power loss ( engine missing a beat )
5. battery weak

SA came back to me :
1. steering nut loosen. tightened.
2. disc plate ( no problem, can't claim warranty, but he was referring to front left disc, while i reported rear right disc.)
3. cleaned cabin air filter.
4. power loss, have to make another appointment. must leave car overnight.
5. no problem with battery as diagnostic shows.

SA only check front disc and not entire 4 disc. i purposely asked him which one he said is okie. haha...caught him with his pants down.

sitting for almost an hour after i told him and showed him the deep scratch line. i guess he must have gone for lunch as now is 12.55pm already.

to be continued.......

Termibait - noticed ur issue 'engine missing a beat'. Do ask them re check all sparkies...I had similar prob last time n spsrk plug changed n issue solved. Mine due to fuel fouling up sparks. Also, I had low batt issue in between. Not sure whether that will also result in incomplete combustion adding furthr to failing sparks.

There appears to be some concern among our bros over the 408 manufactured in China. Nothing to worry as it is manufactured as per spec laid and controlled by principle. Even Ipad is manufactured in China,it's a runaway success!

I'm from the Aviation sector. Boeing and Airbus, the two mega giants in aviation are having parts manufactured in China. I can tell you, there are no failures from any China made parts which are fitted to these planes.

So relax,it's a matter of outsourcing!  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif

I still remember I took delivery..the plastics covering the insides have instructions in Chinese. .thats a strong 'made in China reminder'..lol....
But as correctly pointed out...no big deal and chill

I beam beam beam yet it still don't wanna give way, I got the chance to overtake from the left lane, cut back to the right after overtaking. It highbeam me back? What the hell is the driver thinking?
*
Hehehe..............he's upset with you for beaming and not following speed limit, but not realizing he himself is over speed limit!

thank you Matsukatsu,

i have made another appointment for them to check this as i was told my car have to be left overnight.

1. steerling loose - tightened up but i still can feel a little bit. not sure if it is due to drive shaft.
2. Disc plate with deep scratch line - replaced a new set on the spot.
3. smelly inside cabin - cleaned up cabin filter. not sure this works or not as i did not trail behind lorries with black smoke yet.
4. Turbo loss - engine missing a beat. appointment made 3.5.2013 together with 20k service.
5. weak battery - saw the dianostig slip- it shows good battery.

My review on Glenmarie center :

Front counter : No smile but courtesy, 7/10
Service advisor : Friendly with smile, 8/10
Service Technician : Friendly but not so meticulous, 7/10. I complained about deep scratch line on disc plate. He just checked front disc and wrote on the service sheet, ok, warranty not approved. I asked him which disc he mentioned is ok. He showed me the front disc. Then, i told him the scratch line is at the rear disc. He was stunned for a while and went back to office ( i guess to talk to his boss ). 11.45am that time.
waited until 2.55pm to collect my car. rear disc was replaced with a new set(both left and right).
refreshement : Milo, tea, coffee, biscuit. (SHould add nasi lemak or meehoon goreng). 6/10.
entertainment : newspaper/magazine. 3/10. No newspaper found.
pre inspection Follow up: A call was made to me to remind of the service date and time.
post inspection follow up : A call was made to me next day to confirm problems are rectified and scheduling of next appointment date for the item 4.
Total experience : 7/10. At least solve my disc plate problem and checked my battery. smile.gif

cheers....

Hi,
Hope that your issue nothing related to carbon built-up. Read some comments from 308 FB as shown (highlighted).

Pugs Tkl: Mileage 21k. Gentle and town driving style.

Ismail Ali: Very nice and even looking carbon coating..

Pugs Tkl Ismail Ali : Yup pal...and thats only at 21k..

Razuani Rahman: No wonder when my 508 at 18k km I can feel the jerking and lost of power ..bro TKL did any 408 or 508 recently..

Pugs Tkl : Encounter only 408 once and 508 twice...The rest of Prince is 308,3008 as well as Mini..

Razuani Rahman: Waa 408 got also ..is it as bad ..the..508 month picture..how bad is the carbon buildup and at what mileage

Pugs Tkl: Razuani Rahman The owner did not answer for my permission to post their photos and info, so I have to keep this to myself..

After so many that I had done, it varies with every car. It is more depends on the driver as well as condition. Engine oil also play important factor coz oil which unable to withstand the heat or not so good quality after 5-6k km will create more vapor and burning. Besides that, those treated with chemical valve cleaner will have faster build up since the layer of carbon is already soak with chemical and then dried up again with more heat. Lately, I witness few cars with corroded coating on their intake valve. Everytime after cleaning, the valve should be sparkling clean, smooth and shiny coz the cleaning will have polishing effect. There will be some left over carbon at the end or corner of the valve which will flakes off by itself once the car start to run and temp build up.The smooth surface have better and smoother finishing compare to a new valve and should takes longer time for the carbon to build up. The few cars that have corroded coating will eventually have very much faster build up and I am unable to give it a good clean and polishing no matter how hard I tried. I have no idea currently what causes the coating to corrode and it looks like the coating is gone and start to rust, Besides that, it had a rough and matte surface. I will post some pics once I got permission from respective owner..

However, build up is there as low as 8k for first layer and it will increase over time and rob power. This will be the same as other DI engine as well but Toyotas build up is slower on their DI engine. All the above is based on my observation and for info sharing purposes.1 cent.

Razuani Rahman : On the engine oil, what is the best brand for the THP engine..

Pugs Tkl Razuani Rahman : Unable to comment much coz I only tested few brand on THP. Total and Amsoil with not more than 30weight is good. Not going to comment what is not good...LOL

BUT, some said that our new prince engine which is after upgrade to 6 mods seems like no carbon built-up issue. Read from PCM FB as shown (highlighted).

To overcome some the prince engine issue, Peugeot has upgrade the engine use in 408T among other as follows

Engine code P6CDTM (408T) carries the following mods:

1) Engine tuned to run on RON 87 petrol
2) Remapped ECU
3) New designed piston
4) New designed catalyzer.
5) New engine oil filter housing with heat exchanger
6) New turbo charger
7) New fuel tank gauge unit with lower pressure pump to handle lower grade petrol.
A fuel filter to cater for hash atmospheric condition ( third world country)

This has drastically reduce the depollution issue on the prince engine at the same time hp is increase from 156 to 163. During trial period before it is launch, the car test car clocked more than 60k km without carbon built up issue. lets hope it stays that way .

Ermmmmm....... JUST SHARING MY 1CENT. CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG.
