In SC for 10k service now, looking at the 408T with euro kit. Touch on it, feel like it's just hard plastic.

After reach Bentong Toll Plaza, i slowing down my driving speed approximately 110km/h to 120km/h due wet road surface and sharp cornering. (Takut jugak lah kalau overturn doh.gif )

Arrived at destination. Snap pic as attached :

That's not the way you tell how good your car FC is. The MFD isn't accurate. The best way is to do it like what I do. Record down your mileage (total km travelled on trip A for example) when you fill up your empty petrol tank. Note down the total amount of fuel bought (total liters) and enter both figures into fuelly (www.fuelly.com), and you will know exactly what kind of mileage your car is doing.

Thanks dear,
Noted. Good advisor. smile.gif

Hi,
Hope that your issue nothing related to carbon built-up. Read some comments from 308 FB as shown (highlighted).

Pugs Tkl: Mileage 21k. Gentle and town driving style.

Ismail Ali: Very nice and even looking carbon coating..

Pugs Tkl Ismail Ali : Yup pal...and thats only at 21k..

Razuani Rahman: No wonder when my 508 at 18k km I can feel the jerking and lost of power ..bro TKL did any 408 or 508 recently..

Pugs Tkl : Encounter only 408 once and 508 twice...The rest of Prince is 308,3008 as well as Mini..

Razuani Rahman: Waa 408 got also ..is it as bad ..the..508 month picture..how bad is the carbon buildup and at what mileage

Pugs Tkl: Razuani Rahman The owner did not answer for my permission to post their photos and info, so I have to keep this to myself..

After so many that I had done, it varies with every car. It is more depends on the driver as well as condition. Engine oil also play important factor coz oil which unable to withstand the heat or not so good quality after 5-6k km will create more vapor and burning. Besides that, those treated with chemical valve cleaner will have faster build up since the layer of carbon is already soak with chemical and then dried up again with more heat. Lately, I witness few cars with corroded coating on their intake valve. Everytime after cleaning, the valve should be sparkling clean, smooth and shiny coz the cleaning will have polishing effect. There will be some left over carbon at the end or corner of the valve which will flakes off by itself once the car start to run and temp build up.The smooth surface have better and smoother finishing compare to a new valve and should takes longer time for the carbon to build up. The few cars that have corroded coating will eventually have very much faster build up and I am unable to give it a good clean and polishing no matter how hard I tried. I have no idea currently what causes the coating to corrode and it looks like the coating is gone and start to rust, Besides that, it had a rough and matte surface. I will post some pics once I got permission from respective owner..

However, build up is there as low as 8k for first layer and it will increase over time and rob power. This will be the same as other DI engine as well but Toyotas build up is slower on their DI engine. All the above is based on my observation and for info sharing purposes.1 cent.

Razuani Rahman : On the engine oil, what is the best brand for the THP engine..

Pugs Tkl Razuani Rahman : Unable to comment much coz I only tested few brand on THP. Total and Amsoil with not more than 30weight is good. Not going to comment what is not good...LOL

BUT, some said that our new prince engine which is after upgrade to 6 mods seems like no carbon built-up issue. Read from PCM FB as shown (highlighted).

To overcome some the prince engine issue, Peugeot has upgrade the engine use in 408T among other as follows

Engine code P6CDTM (408T) carries the following mods:

1) Engine tuned to run on RON 87 petrol
2) Remapped ECU
3) New designed piston
4) New designed catalyzer.
5) New engine oil filter housing with heat exchanger
6) New turbo charger
7) New fuel tank gauge unit with lower pressure pump to handle lower grade petrol.
A fuel filter to cater for hash atmospheric condition ( third world country)

This has drastically reduce the depollution issue on the prince engine at the same time hp is increase from 156 to 163. During trial period before it is launch, the car test car clocked more than 60k km without carbon built up issue. lets hope it stays that way .

Ermmmmm....... JUST SHARING MY 1CENT. CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG.

Hi bro RON408. I believe it is true. I know details of the mods carried out to prevent premature carbon build up on EP6CDTM. If you or anyone is interested,I could writeup a summary for the benefit of all to understand this issue better.
