Hi, I'm using 3M Crystalline with 4mil security tint. Pretty decent. But on those really hot days, the heat still can be felt. I was using Crystalline on my previous ride and if I'm not mistaken, those tints effectiveness does depends on the angle of sunshine. Hence, most effective from 12-2pm range. Correct me if am wrong though.

You're definitely getting a lot of wrong info.

Latest Civic Hybrid 0w20 price charged by Honda is RM150.50

Even when I had my Corolla Altis, the charges were never more than RM170 for fully synthetic oil.

Full service will not hit more than RM1.5k either, not to say it isn't possible but it's not likely, not unless you have some very major work done or unless you push 2 or 3 services into 1.

That's why if the price gap is more than 20% between Japanese C-segment marques and for the NA version, then it's considered quite costly to maintain. It's more logical if between the turbo version vs any non turbocharged Japanese NA cars.

Does this even take into consideration of 5liters engine oil for Pugs ? Japs <= 2.0cc only 4liters max right?

Okay, good spot. It's one more litre of engine oil required. 5L vs 4L

1L extra will cost you anything between RM50 ~ RM70 more.

Seeing the bill cost around RM307 ~ RM340, the servicing cost for the NA version is reasonable .

Something interesting about the EW10 engine I dugged up

http://www.peugeot-citroen-moteurs.fr/cach..._data_sheet.pdf

It has VVL and VVT on the intake.
*
Goodstuff! EW10 is on previous 407.

EW10+ on 408. Anything you've got on this? Best I've read is in Wikipedia..wink.gif

Best Engine Award for 07,08 & 09.

Today's the day to collect my Puggy home, can't sleep last night. Ya 5 liters of engine oil definitely more expensive. As the old Cantonese saying goes, "eat salted fish, expect the thirst".

Congrats joeaggas! Enjoy ur ride & certainly I'm sure Genting needs to be conquered! I did mine 2weeks thereafter smile.gif smile.gif

Btw, had read in earlier post by ano bro, on 408 aircond settings. Apparently the manual states the numericals doesn't equate to temperature& more like comfort setting. Hence, setting of 21 is not equivalent to 21celcius . I was earlier confused myself.

Ok finally got my 408T unit around 5pm at the tinting shop in seremban (Ray Tech).
Drove it back just now on PLUS and I noticed at some stretch of the highway, my speed was around 130-150kph Sports mode off, felt the car with subtle bounciness.
Have you guys/gals felt that before? If I'm a woman not wearing bra, it'll be quite a discomfort.

I installed the RayTech V90 solar tint didn't do the security film version.
*
Since its brand new, do giv a check on your tyre pressure- could be as some bro described earlier as 'show room' pressure. Nevertheless, 408 T has firmer ride and the subtle bounciness only reflects that + irregularities on the road. My 408 NA's bounciness is there as well on higher speeds( more noticeable 140kmh up) but the softer setting does compensate it pretty well.

Anyone can help.
which is which? Which better (syntium OR total)?

[attachmentid=3293820]

Good question RON408. I had same query myself earlier.
As on using Total, I am presuming it would be BAU as Total is France's national oil company rite?

So for Nasim to be using Petronas, BAU again lah ..hehe.

Anyhow ( touch wood), so far so good on Syntium

Talking on fuel, my 408NA had some 'hiccups' last 2weeks- this is just after 10k service.

My engine had behaved rather erratically ( rpm interval jumping within small band) and its just like hiccups- for lack of word to describe.

Traced back n thought it might be contaminated fuel +water. Didn't remember which station but my lion really felt like "mabuk on whiskey" Anyhow, only able to bring in for servicing 1week later to Balakong SC. Service is pretty good & had left my lion overnite. SC cleaned up
the spark plugs and run some diagnostics. Found out there is some sort of carbon built up. There is no sensor error or any detection earlier though. Cut short, lion is now healthy & running about. Service is FOC.

I was suspecting fuel contamination that leads to incomplete burning hence carbon built up on spark plugs.Just wanting to know if other puggies had same issue on NA b4 n same mabuk like characteristics?

Plus, BHP for my lion tak ngam lah. Dunno why but not as smooth. Had been using Petron. Possibly sensor adapted to regular fuel pumped?

Btw, spotted this in Petronas Station. Apparently Syntium has free gift promo ongoing. Is SC providing the same since they use Syntium also?

Different people different stroke
Some like popular choice, some just shrug, smile (but not laugh till they choke)
Some like German Engineering, even it makes them broke
Some like Toyota, safe and sound, Resale Value intact they hope
Some like Korean , valued pack /feature fullness now with Peter Shreyer's genius stroke

And then they are this bunch of unique ladies & gentlemen so fine.
Appreciate tasteful things in life, like french perfumes, fashions and wines.
Whom have exquisite taste, unique for some AND not most and that's fine.
and they tolerate ill-mannered guests even they starting to behave like swines

Patrick, i'm not power addict and like you, I only drive 110-130 at highway. I could safely say that overtaking with 2 person inside isn't an issue, even when going uphill (not steep). However, the engine will have to put in extra effort with 4-5 person inside or extra luggage in its massive boot.

However, the safety features and the electro-hydraulic steering on the turbo are 2 of the features which I wish was included as part of the NA package.

Being said that, after close to one year of ownership, I never regretted choosing NA over turbo :-D
*
For me, I find the NA quite responsive and also powerful. There's a certain way to treat this Lion. No doubt, standstil to century mile is rather slow vs thp, but once exceeded 100kmh, the speed will rise like crazy baby!

I'm now in Pg btw ( happy CNY!) and speed all the way lah - 160-180kh very easily ( 3am -6am & don't worry on safety or comment bla bla ;p)
So make no mistake if u think NA lags those higher performance cars. Plus u can easily overtake lorries on the tap!

Talking about Batu Ferringhi, just passed thru today :- family went to new theme park, Escape in Teluk Bahang. NA handles well and absorbs the lubangs lubangs well.

BTW My wife also agrees that 408NA performs much better in highways. It really a cruiser if I can term it as such.

Anyhow, for me, I went for 2.0NA as I'm more comfortable with the proven reliability of EW10a+ ( previously award winning EW10a on 407) & the comfort suspension setting.

Whooaa..I thought you've tested both car. Please do test drive all cars that you're considering before you make your decision. Like you said, you plan to drive it for as long as 7 years, so you really need to be satisfied with it.
*
If youre in Klang Valley, I think Puchong should have both. You'l also hav a fair bit of highway( LDP to Kesas & back) plus all the lubang lubangs around Tesco Puchong area. I did my test drive & had booked there as well

After a week of use here is a list of my observation and finding of my Pug408T unit.
1) #Defect: Bubble at the driver side door upholstry
2) #Config: Braking and the steering shakes.
3) #Defect: Back passenger left side door, chrome misaligned at the joint between the sliding window and the small glass.
4) #Design: Small glove compartment.
5) #Design: Air cond inside the glove compartment, WTH for?
6) #Design: Non breathable leather seats.
7) #Design: Petrol cover opening mechanism can fail and if does no alt tip to open the cover.
8) #Design: Back passenger doors, need to open wide otherwise it'll swing back and hit the boarding passenger's arm and it can be quite painful. Must makesure to hold the door if elderly / kids are boarding.
9) #Design: Eurokit is a total aesthetic waste o money and marketing gimmick to justify for the extra 3K
10) #Design: You cannot lift up the screen wiper without showing off the AWESOME engine.

Lastly, engine power is awesome and that makes up for some of the drawbacks.

Item 8 ;- doors are really heavy ( not to mention big!) I had my fair share of adoi moments on both front & rear doors! For my front doors, once i've open the doors, I will now hold the corner edge with my hand as I've always poke myself in the face whenever I want to go in. Silly me but ithappen quite a bit during 1st 2-3weeks. He he, the doors are pretty the solid I guess

I don't find any problem with the door. As matter of fact, I really like the way the door behave. Open it wide enough until it reaches the first lock or click and it will stay there. Also, I find it's very useful to carry things inside or out, especially big and bulky items. And closing the door requires very little effort. Just apply a gentle push to swing the door from the lock or click, and it will close with a solid thud. Just make sure your arm or leg is not in the way when the door swings back!
*
You're right! Those adoi moments are mostly in between parkings where I can't open wide enough. On my car porch, its lovely lah. As on my earlier description on heavy door, I'm describing so as when it swings back unannounced, the door does push me back! Hehe
