QUOTE(x800 @ Feb 28 2013, 04:25 PM) Ooo I see. Sounds feasible, but got to check the wheel arch clearance whether it can fit 18 inchers with the extra 1" offset or not. Plus I think it will void warranty..I already asked the SC several times, and they said even the smallest mod of changing the tyre profile or width will void warranty...sigh bloody hell, really not a single thing can be changed? i was thinking of changing to 50 series tire and brighter bulb |

QUOTE(SKYjack @ Mar 1 2013, 06:50 PM) Bro you are absolutely right in cooling the water before it can be pumped into the engine water jackets to cool the engine. The fan at the radiator cools this water and ofcourse ram air due to forward motion of the vehicle. You have successfully cooled your Lion. very useful info, very helpful to ppl like me, 1st time owning a turbo petrol carHowever the turbo is not happy. Turbos spin to something like 150,000rpm. I forget the temperatures generated of my head, unless I dig up my old torn notes, that too only if I find them.....hahaha! To keep the turbos cool and running happy, most use fluid bearings. A thin layer of oil is constantly pumped on to the shaft that supports these bearings. Whilst the oil cools the shaft and bearings and allows it to spin without much friction, it picksup tremendous heat. Don't forget the turbo gets up to 150,000 rpm. The heat generated here has to be cooled too. As suggested by bro jfcheang, not pushing your car the last few kilometers before reaching home helps a bit. Older turbo cars used to have timer running the engine at idle for a few minutes to let the oil cool off. As you know, after shut down the engines ran for a while. A more effective method of cooling is to completely shut down the primary heat source,ie the engine, and cool the oil by a fan. Dissipation of heat by this method is much more efficient/faster, and does not consume fuel. Hence on our Lion the fan has to run a few seconds depending on heat level. Hope this helps! but are turbo diesel also share the same fluid bearing in turbo? when i turn off my pick-up, it just off like a normal engine |

QUOTE(jfcheong @ Mar 8 2013, 11:05 AM) The aftermarket HID wouldn't be too bright and caused inconvenient for others? Though I not happy with the light colour. yeap, aftermarket HID on normal headlamp is a disaster, only those stock HID with projector is nice for everyoneIt will be better to match HID with projector lamp. can't do major mod on my headlamp, that's y i'm interested in whiter n brighter bulb like what danishfx suggested |

QUOTE(jfcheong @ Mar 8 2013, 01:00 PM) Sorry, abit noob here. So which mean white bulb doesn't mean HID right? White light doesn't distract other road users like HID? yeap, white bulb doesn't mean HIDIf so, I am interested to change to white bulb also. and normally HID distract other road users is due to improper modification, which cause the light shooting at wrong angle, not because of the color |

QUOTE(darrez @ Mar 19 2013, 10:28 PM) i use similar one from philips on my previous satria neo, it is white and almost the same as 4300k HID but the performace really poor during raining or foggy condition..if u dun care about that then no problem, it really for cosmetic purpose only. er.. i think the one u use is so called "Philips Crystal Vision" right? thx for sharing, sounds a bit scary to me, because that's the time we need the headlight most.. |

QUOTE(matsukatsu @ Mar 29 2013, 09:56 PM) Hi guys. Just nice to know where to get similar tyres n price comparisons earlier! Mine just burst today! Lion was crashed by an indian immigrant on honda ex5. Serious dents and deep paint scratches on left rear end. Luckily missed those rear lights. Otherwise Adoi! Anyhow just wanted to share its HARD WORK changing the tyres man! yes, the whole bolt come out, i got one of my tire patched when my car is 2 weeks old, quite surprise to see this and i ask the foreman, according to him, most conti car is like this and it is more safe17" never really felt SO BIG AND HEAVY when changing ourselves. AND it took me 45mins and the darkness doesnt help one bit! Thats along busy busy highway. My wife was driving earlier and luckily she realised something was wrong when the steering feltnout of place. ASAP I went to rescue. Thats where the HARDWORK comes in. Apparently, there are nut caps for all the bolts. Easily removed by the clip on item as provided in tool kit. Worse nightmare came when I found out the 4bolts are in one piece! This means 4bolts are loose items! In Japs, the bolts are fixed on the axle wheel (what do u call those?). Finding alignment and bolting back the nuts does drive me nuts! Found out after 10mins of futile screwing, that I need to align the center cap hole(peugout logo on rim) with the wheel axle and push in hard. That will secure the rim in position. However, finding the right height is very tricky in dark night. I already Sweating buckets with my wife using my mobile as for extra lighting to shine the rim. After few hard attempts, found right height to secure the rim in position. Next thing adjust the rim turning to align the bolting position. My goodness am I relieved thereafter. Btw, fortunately spare tyres are full sized 17" with ori sport rims and tyres. Just gotta go get another spare n another hole to pocket. Bytheway, the tyre had bursted in all direction on its seams. Fortunately no crash or skidding and tyre is still in one piece though clearly its beyond repair. Hopefully this sharing will help any braders who might nid to change the tyres themselves(touchwood!)
