Beside compete with iPad Mini, Samsung also need to compete with upcoming Nexus 7.7. So let the good fight begin ....

Just notice Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 3G version price already drop to RM999. Interesting...

Doubt it will b cheaper than iPad mini so far any Samsung product with the note word on it sell super expensive....most likely gonna cost rm1.8k when it launch.

See lah, Samsung Malaysia might decide just to bring in 3G model to compete with iPad Mini 4G version which is around RM1,400 which fit nicely below Galaxy Note 10.1...

Less features than what.Note 8" have. Like i said..speed wasn't everything to me. I look for good and preferable features that suits my needs.

Yup..Note 8" dont have high ppi. If you need high density..there a a few other brand tablet that comes with full HD.
But again..the density will be low as the tablet screen is bigger than phone

If they would just reduced it to 7" then it would have a nice PPI for reading.

Reading doesn't need high PPI..the wording will look quite the same. But will noticeable when see images. No problem to me though as I'm more to e-reading and jotting notes with the SPen..lolz

189ppi is ok if the contrast is good. Note 8.0 is almost a perfect tablet for me. Wish it comes with 64GB and cradle

No..I'm not joking. For reading there's nothing wrong with low PPI.
For Note 8" to have 189 ppi is more than enough for reading comfortably.
Kindle Fire is 7" and has even lower resolution 1024 x 600 and PPI that is 170.
And iPad mini have only 163 PPI yet nobody bemoan about it a bit.

Actually there are huge differences in reading when it comes to ppi. Tried prolonged reading on a Nexus 7, compared to the iPad 2. you'll find that reading on the iPad 2 is like reading without wearing specs, for short sighted person. The words are blur and not crisps enough.

whereas reading wise, when I compare nexus 7 with iPad 3. The difference ain't so severe. So I'm guessing above a certain level of ppi, normal ppl like me (us) will find it harder to differentiate between 2 devices with different ppi?

btw all these is under the condition of not zooming in on the reading materials.

Reading on my nexus 7 with 216ppi is way way more comfortable than on my ipad mini with 163ppi

What i meant was..for 189 ppi..it should be enough for reading already. It's not that we cannot read at all with that amount of ppi. Otherwise Kinddle cannot be used already because its ppi is less than what Note 8" have.

Middle placement seems balance to me. But the way the camera protrude from the body is ugly. Better if it is flat

Flat back surface with cover can protect the lens from friction, that's what I concern though is not critical. I like the quality of the cam from samples in the internet.

This Galaxy Note 8.0 is really like Note II with enlarged screen size (5.5" to 8.0" with same resolution). Really tempting to buy 3G version.

The current ipad mini already has LTE support . Only is incompatible with local LTE bands. Similar situation as iphone5

Why would Samsung need to use Note 8" to compete with iPad Mini..? There are Tab 2..Tab Plus..Tab 8.9..already in the market with low price. If Samsung really want to compete in price categories..it should release a Tab version with low specs so it can sell with lower price..not this Note 8" that comes with nearly same specs with Note2.

IMHO, anything larger than6" is not pocketable. I like my hands free Waiting for Note3.

But yeah, I wonder what was Samsung thinking when it released this product and now they don't know what to do about the pricing. I think their BOM cost should be pretty cheap for this since they're now at the 2nd gen of the digitizer. Should be a bit cheaper than Note 10.1.
