You can try increase the sleep min and max freq OR decrease the UV, but i really dunno what is the cause. To be frank, i never had any issue with all 3 kernels before. No sod or reboots

You dont need KIES to flash firmware. You install KIES for its USB drivers only
It is 101% safe to flash stock firmware download from sammobile.com
And you do NOT need root to flash official stock firmware ( any country). Just use the software ODin in PC

Thanks Benny.

So in Odin, what should I check and unchecked. Previously those files I installed via Odin is in tar format and not sure if zip works too. So I would just use browse and select the file in the PDA selection?

When I was using perseus 31.2, I got no problems with it, the kernel is smooth, no lag, no reboots, everything was ok. I went back to stock just because I hate to see my status changed to Modified. Overall perseus kernel and stock kernel are much the same. I don't OC or UV so better off with stock.

Odin can only flash extracted files in tar format. For full zip files if extracted you see several folders ( eg data, system, meta INF etc) this can only be flash through RECOVERY mode
In Odin , just leave everything as default and just select the tar file as PDA

ya I never swap memory, I don't play those 3D intensive games that consume large amount of space. Only simple games ocassionally. I still have 5GB free space and I add 16GB microsd and that is for all my backups, like firmwares, sms etc.

For those who don't want to do the swap thing, GLtoSD is a good choice, allows the same end result.

Start them young. So I guess he is proficient at flashing and knows his bits and bytes? Ensure he knows the importance of OPEN computing platforms and who owns HIS data.

Next Monday he will be enrolling to Kolej Vokasional majoring in IT. This is a new course set up by the government for young kids. They have to spend 4 yrs for their Diploma and can skip SPM.

Good, but ensure he is aware also that the world is not just Micro$oft. Undoubtedly there will be a heavy component of vested interests by incumbent vendors. Expand his horizons. tongue.gif

Unzip the file using winrar or 7zip. You will get another file with a similar name, but ending with "tar" extension. This file is what you need to use with PC odin.

GLtoSD, what does it works? can it still remain in stock rom and kernel?
is it like directory bind?

"what does it do"

Yes it can be used on stock rom and kernel. I'm using the same. I did not go into the details but I suppose it operates on a similar concept.
