QUOTE(wohoo @ Apr 30 2012, 09:03 PM) Hai everyone, i get the call from their HR for interview session next week for the "Software Service Engineer" position. Based on the job scope much like more focussing on implementation and maintainance phase. SO i want to ask does the post need to do programming? Any advice? Thanks in advance QUOTE(quineMc @ May 2 2012, 12:06 AM) i got the call for the same position too but my interview will be on june..do tell me your experience after u go for interview ya. QUOTE(wohoo @ May 2 2012, 02:19 PM) Hi,Just wanna provide my 2cents on Software Service Engineer position. So basically, 90% of the team is outsourced employee and fresh from universities. If you are able to speak Mandarin, it will be an advantage. If you are willing to work till midnight/on standby/night shifts/experiencing constant pressure from customers and management/willing to learn from 0/willing to write daily and weekly report, then you are eligible for the job. I would like to point out that many people left after joining this department. The pay itself is tempting but be prepared for the challenging job. |

First of all, no means to offence anybody or any company. What I am telling below is just personal thought and some sharing, a bit long... the story...
Development of Huawei in Malaysia Huawei Malaysia have been estalished in Malaysia since 2000 with a group of less than 100 staff. Its keep on growing and expand till almost 1000 staff as of today. All these is not by luck but indeed Huawei is having/leading by a group of young, talented and ambitious employee. From the very begining everyone were asking who is Huawei and their first impression was China company ah??? Tak boleh pakai lahhhhh......chaep lah... tak tahan la.....bla bla....But time tell the truth, after going through the cycle of critism-improving-critism-improving and spirit of never say die, Huawei successfully gain the confidence from domestic leading telco operator. working atmosphere If you were to compare among Chinese company and Western or even Japanese working habit/benefit, I will tell you, you will never enjoy the so call great benefit (Travell allowances, Meal allowances, hotel allowance bla bla bla), the comprehensive system/procedure for you to follow exactly from A to Z, reached home on time to enjoy dinner with your dearest family member. What you enjoy is the reasonable allowance, standard procedure and occasionally dinner with family member (what i mention here is those really dedicated and wanted contribute more, Boss will know it Why Huawei did not pay out high allowances? If you looking at those western company, one very good example - LxxxxT (US Based). Once it is a very good/big company with a lot of project/assets/employee (In chinese often people say 大到不会倒) which give out a very good allowances but at the end, it have to merge with or taken over by others. In fact, Huawei will pay out the reasonable allowances for those travellers. Just imagine, the nature of the business are require heavy travelling, if you pay out very attractive allowances, how long will Huawei sustain if the market share or sale of Huawei droping dramatically? Dunt forget, RND cost is another huge investment in developing new technonology. Then, another LxxxxT again. Why people say Huawei very messy, not follow procedure la, no training la, many report la? I need to clarify here, Yes, if you were to compare with those western/japanese company. But please be fair to Huawei, it was established in year 1986, with less than 30 years in Telco industry, how can you compare with those gaint/old timers player? Huawei have been improving in the proper procedure implementation. Regarding training, do not expect training will be provided once you join in, there are many old staff which is staying more than few years never attend for any single training course. So what? Many of them are learning themselves via OTJ/learning platform/senior staff. Please bear in mind, you must be INDEPENDENT enough to work in Huawei. No one will come to pamper you and asking have you learn this/do you know this/can you do this???? All you have to do is take your initiative to ask around smartly. The reporting wise, so far i did not come across for daily reporting unless there is some urgent project/critical issue that require daily update (I saw there is a post saying that daily report is required, please share with me what department you r in). I agree with the weekly reporting manner. By doing so, not only u will improve your report writing skill, your direct superior can know what r u doing for the whole week. Please let me know if there is other company that doesnt require reporting to your boss periodically, i might consider to join that company. Yes, Huawei is one leg kick/one man show. But it doesnt mean team work is not exist! For myself, I do come across with a good supervisor which manage to guide us toward building up a good team relationship and it proof that team sprit able to help us achieve our goal in a shorter time. Yes, Huawei is stressed! This is because Huawei wanted keep on improving in term of sales/revenue and most importantly - customer sastification. The most satisfaction customer are, the most they are recognise Huawei brand No, Huawei is not racist. I would say if you are able to speak/write mandarin, you have more advantage toward others. This is simply because most of the time you need to communicate with HQ which is located in China. By speaking mandarin, they are able to express well and convey the message. Don't be afraid, everyone is talking about globalisation, same to Huawei. Everything will be in bi-lingual. It means that, Huawei still employ those cant speak or understand mandarin. |
