depend how deep your pocket and how big your tank and filter.
Just go for over filtration if space and pocket permit.

10kg???? how big is your tank? how many tanks will be using it at once?
if only a 2-3 bps for one tank, it can last you for 2 years. 10kg? do you really need that huge one?
even a 4kg tank i got problem to put it in my cabinet already.

before this, i was putting co2 for 24hrs at 1bps. recently modified the regulator to include a separate solenoid, so can up the bps to 2-3 when the light comes on. probably only 6 hrs at most.

the current tank is 5kgs if not mistaken. can last abt 2-3 mths. so now i expect to last longer if i get a larger tank. the problme i have is that i will be out of co2 for 1 week at least when i go for refill because the local shop here send to jb to refill costing me rm30 per refill. so let see how it goes.

yesterday added nerite snails (11 of them) to the tank. started to clean some gsa on the tank walls at the back. seems cleaner today already. now most of them are resting at the top of tank... haha...

shahrul, 2 school of thoughts :
1) 24hr co2 : should be low count to keep ph stable in the tank. when lights on, plants will have ready co2 to use.
cons : wasted co2 at night when lights are out.

2) co2 when lights are on. it will take a while for co2 to circulate around the tank. so lights will need to be longer than option 1 so that plants can fully utilise the co2 for photosynthesis.

- if your fishes are always at the top gasping for air, that means too much co2!! turn it off and add some water disturbance at the top to add oxygen back into the water.

for me, i tried option 1. it was when i only got a manual regulator. i put on 1bps and leave it on 24hrs. i left the lights on for 6 hrs. plant was slow growing.

then i try to turn on higher to 2bps when daytime and turn off in the evening. it was tiring and sometimes i forget. lights on 6 hrs as well.

now i installed a solenoid valve and turn up to 3bps when lights are on. but only 3 days when my co2 ran out and now awaiting refill... haven got clear results.... will update more when my co2 gets refilled.

[IAPLC 2013] Important announcement about the change of contest grading method.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Going back to the previous grading system! In the last year's contest, a new evaluation method was introduced; it included the internet voting process as well as on-site popular voting by Nature Aquarium Party participants at the party. The reaction for the new system was remarkable and had mixed feelings. We've received many feedback and opinions about the new grading system from the contestants, ADA's distributors / registered retailers and contest supporters:

- No big surprise at the party because all top ranked layouts were already announced to the public before the party.
- The whole grading process took too long.
- It was such a big disappointment that the contest booklet wasn't available at the party.
- I'm not against the idea of adopting a voting system, but simply prefer the previous grading system.

With careful consideration of feedbacks like these, IAPLC 2013 Contest Steering Committee decided to go back to the previous grading system. There is still an issue of releasing images of top ranked layouts on internet by some contestants. We will try to prevent it by strongly requesting contestants not to reveal their layout photos before the party and pushing back the delivery date of the contest result. For a fair and clean contest process,we will definitely need cooperation and support from all contestants.

IAPLC 2013 Contest Schedule

May 31, 2013 >>> Closing date for the entries

Early to mid-June >>> Selection of the Top 100 layouts

Late June to mid-July >>> Evaluation by the contest juries of the world

End of July >>> Delivery of the contest result

September 28 >>> Nature Aquarium Party 2013 at Tokyo International Forum

*Top ranked layouts will make their first appearance *IAPLC contest booklet 2013 will be distributed to all the party participants
