1. Brand:
Lenovo, Dell, Asus (Unless you can recommend me another barand that has very reasonable specs)

2. Budget:
Not above 3k, the lower the better of course =)

3. Usage:
Engineering softwares like AutoCad doing stuff like 3D modelling

4. Preferred laptop/screen size
Im not picky about the size but generally I dun like too big coz it's too bulky, 14'' is a reasonable size

Please recommend a brand/model that you know to be reliable and durable, my first laptop (Acer Aspire 4740G) snuffed out after 2 years and that seems like a very short time.

All i need i a fast pc that can handle engineering softwares, i dun really care about the other fancy stuffs that come bundled with consumer pcs.

And theres one thing i dun understand, what is the hardware in pcs that receives the wifi signals? and are all these in every pc same in terms of the ability to receive signals?

Usually people running AutoCad and 3D modelling stuffs would prefer 15" notebooks because of the FullHD screen (larger workspace)...
But if you want a 14", then this one has the best specs (before the Asus G46 comes in, if it comes tongue.gif):
Lenovo Y400, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT650M@RM2799, 4GB, 500GB, W8, 120wPSU, swappable ODD

Going down one level would be these:
14"
Asus A45VS-VX028H, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT640M@RM2899[2.4kg], 4GB, 750GB, W8

Dell Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + Nvidia GT640M(28nm Kepler)@RM2799[2.38kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm); backlit keyboard optional

Lenovo V480, i7-3632QM + Nvidia GT630M@RM2899, 4GB,750GB(5400rpm), W7P

Toshiba Satellite M840-1009XG/XP/XQ, i7-3612QM + AMD HD7670M@RM2799[2kg], 4GB, 750GB, W7HP; colors: Gold/Pink/Blue

Easiest is to go out and look at the real thing laugh.gif
Components (GPU, HDD, ODD, cooling fan ... ) that come in ultrabay form factor is very easy to swap in / out the laptop. No screw. The release lever is very similar to normal laptop battery.

Y500 and Y400 each has 1 ultrabay slot.
When Lenovo Malaysia released Y500, the ultrabay slot is filled with a ultrabay GPU (another GT650M). If you check out some foreign sales site, you could find Y500 which ultrabay slot standard spec is filled with a ultrabay ODD).
When Lenovo Malaysia released Y400, the ultrabay slot is filled with a ultrabay ODD. (As far as I know, so far, no where in the world you can find a ultrabay GPU for Y400. Lenovo is expected to release ultrabay GPU and other ultrabay accessories for Y400 this year).

Ultrabay slot is nothing new. Thinkpad has it for a long long time. What is new is GPU in ultrabay that can run in SLI thumbup.gif

Its the best you can get for under Rm3k nod.gif
The HDD runs a bit slower than your A52j, and runs abit hot.. but easily rectifiable by upgrading to SSD (when you have the budget later on) icon_rolleyes.gif
