Data analysis as in big Excel spreadsheet? or Statistical software?
If you are doing big job, the more powerful the CPU the better.
But budget is tight, go for i3 or i5 CPU if possible.
Won't find anything like that from Asus or Toshiba tongue.gif

Dell
Inspiron 14-3421, i3-3217U + Intel HD4000@RM1399[1.99kg], Win8SL, 2GB, 500GB(5400rpm), 4-cell
Inspiron 14-3421, i5-3337U + Nvidia GT625M@RM1599[1.99kg], Ubuntu, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), 6-cell;

Lenovo
G480, i5-3230M + Intel HD4000@RM1499, 2GB, 500GB (5400rpm), FreeDOS

Don't think about 15" ultrabook lah smile.gif Big screen + small battery = not good battery performance.

For AutoCAD, get as powerful a CPU as you can afford.

This, cheapest 15" laptop with i7 that you can find in Malaysia. FreeDOS biggrin.gif

Lenovo
Ideapad Z580, i7-3612QM + Nvidia GT640M@RM2299, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), freeDOS, white

Price is RSP, negotiable.

Lenovo Malaysia warranty support is ok (not the best, but ok) smile.gif They outsource warranty support to a few parties, personally I will send to SC run by IBM tongue.gif

You want FreeDOS, to run AutoCAD, 15", that Z580 is your best bet. It is the one and only i7 spec 15" model that come FreeDOS, within your budget, iinm.

Yeah, its been like that for awhile... the only way you can do it is to chat with their online sales agents, or simply drop them an email saying that you are interested and wait for their response..
Its a pretty stupid move by Dell I would say considering their business notebooks are really good nod.gif

Hi to all Sifus. Need some help in finding the right Ultrabook to fit my budget and use. Thanks!

1. Asus, Toshiba, Samsung, wouldn't mind Acer if the deal is good
2. RM 3,500+-
3. Surfing, Skype, Some movies, Microsoft Office, Web Apps. No Gaming
4. Best if below 1.3KGs. Screen size at least 13" above

I am going to use it for extensive travelling so I thought SSD hard disk would be safer to transport around.

Online chat or call.
Don't drop email and wait for response. Before my IT bought me the E6430, I main-main left a message to them through its tool. Up to today (4 months and counting), nobody from Dell call me laugh.gif

What do mean by don't mind the usage? laugh.gif
If you travel, you need something light (sacrifice power); if you game, you neeed good GPU.
So nobody can tell you what is "bang for bucks" unless you tell us what you want to use it for smile.gif

Only 13" or smaller can satisfy your weight requirement smile.gif

Acer
Aspire S5-391-53314G12, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD@RM3499[1.2kg], W7HP
Aspire S7-391-53314G12, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD + (1920x1080; touch)@RM3799, 4GB, W8

Asus
UX31A-R4005H, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD + (1920 x 1080)@RM3499[1.3kg], 4GB, W8

Toshiba
Portégé Z930-2021, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD@RM3799[1.12kg], W8, 6GB, 3 years warranty (1st year on-site); W8P@RM3599, RM200 voucher

Prices are RSP, negotiable.
For all these models, the RAM is fixed (you can't upgrade), and if you want to change SSD to larger capacity in the future, you need to find SSD that fit the slim form factor.

IMO, the dell best fit your budget as a 15" ultrabook and use the remaining budge to extend the warranty to 3 years on site.
