QUOTE(max_cjs0101 @ Jan 10 2013, 09:16 PM) i dun have all the details yet, but the website says early morning till late evening. jetty u can refer to the map from his website, i oso dunno how to explain. we have to book live prawn ourselves, of which he already gave me the contact, live octopus oso got, but around RM10 each live prawn i think 15 each is more than enuff, around RM1 each, dead bait around RM10-15 each. Food sendiri kautim. all in, shud be roughly around RM130. honestly this boat is a bit pricey, but its way much more comfortable.. used to go with fiber boat for 4, only RM260 include 30 live prawns, tesco prawns and kembong, but doesnt go far. the boat we're going this time, he'll go quite a lot places, if everything in his website and all the comments from his customers are anything to go by.u can go search up in pancing.net, he is quite highly recommended. For that price, of course we can go OFB already lol, but during the weekend its all packed and i heard there're not a lot bait fish in OFB nowadays, they have to go OFBN just to get live bait, additional RM40 each. Since a lot cant make it during weekdays and we need 12 pax, i thought y not make it a weekend half day trip. Still, I will organise a trip to OFB after CNY This is a half day light trip with recommended tekong (hopefully good, first time trying only) and comfortable boat, rather than hardcore fishing. just wanna relax, do fishing and enjoy This post has been edited by faujc99: Jan 11 2013, 12:08 AM |

Nah,.. give you all the spot i fished last week. I caught the toman near the new houses. Those houses are still half way done, just fish by the construction site. The other 2 lakes on the left also very good for hunting. This post has been edited by 1dollar: Jan 11 2013, 04:59 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

Last Saturday went over to Exotic@Rawang with my friends.
didnt knew they had a promo going on for RM100/4hrs (usually RM100/3hrs), so we started at 5.30pm and ended at 9.30pm. manage to hook up 4 fishes all by casting. not sure what fishes are they also. (correct me if i'm wrong) 1st fish - not sure what redtail catfish is this 2nd fish - baby patin buah (ter-hook on the poor guys badan) 3rd fish - bak sou kong 4th fish - mekong? the worker say wan la..i also dunno but this guy put up a tough fight. p/s: using a small fine 5ft rod only but 20lbs line. LOL!!! tiring like hell!!! » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by vng69: Jan 14 2013, 11:22 AM |

30lbs fireline, first spool probably lesser by 3cm or so after I tied and anchored to my reel. Also took some effort to soften the line using warm cloth when reeling & out from my reel.
Bought this 2 boxes during the sea tackle ware house sale. I really can't use those heavy line on my cute reels. Purchased at 20 a box, 125 yards, 100m. Felt like wire to me. Attached thumbnail(s) |

CBH on fireline is easier to untangle than conventional braid although it has a higher tendency to backlash due to the springy nature of it.

QUOTE(acheong7 @ Jan 16 2013, 07:58 PM) an acquaintance in pancing.net claimed to have nego-ed the price of a z200 or z2020, can't recall which, down to less than RM1600 @ digital SS2 aunty goes by her mood la.. usually not much discount. 's far as i know, unc ng will give what he can ann has good/poisonous marketing skills MC Days 1-pc rod for rm400 was soooooo tempting ... i think no more di but she stuck to her guns when it came to a citica 200E .. wouldn't budge an inch at all from her rm430 mebbe i yong sui or not regular customer enough She might just round up thr final total like my current record with her yesterday RM1023.XX She just gave said RM1020 |

i've been up reading quite a number of articles on how tides and sunrise sunset moonrise moonset, full moon etc etc affect our fishing. but the more i read into it, the more i get confused.
general rule of thumb is usually 4th-8th of the month of chinese calendar, and 20th-24th is better for sea fishing. is this wrong? some suggest 1st and 15th of the month as the best time to fish. this website http://www.tides4fishing.com/as/malaysia/klang if proven efficient, will be very useful, given time of the day with better bite rate, but it suggests 1st and 15th of the chinese calendar month. and many more la cant recall read from forums, those fishing in port klang kelong suggest also 1st and 15th, air besar they say. some say dont go during air besar. a check with one experienced tekong going OFB, say 4th and 20th of chinese calendar month (generally). can any otai pls enlighten me a bit ar? when i was out at kenyir last december, rod/reel almost went into the water thrice ... good thing i'd tied it down tho it was second hand stuff, i'd've hated to lose them |

All u need is to hold the rod at waist level or under ur arm pits. Get another to hold the rod just behind the first guide and pull down (only two fingers is required). To test how strong the backbone is just lift and u can check the bend of the rod etc
Just don't ask Viox to help who's scred to try it on expensive Rods. Haha |

I tested by holding the bottom of the rod and holding the first tip, i pulled down. It flexed a bit and then broke d.
Btw i dropped one of my reel on the ground today and the bail handle shattered. I think i shouldnt touch fishing stuff for awhile. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

A not too expensive Daiwa reel. It fell from almost 8 feet and landed bail arm first.

when u said cacing,.. as in live earth worms?
You didnt try the zoom worms I gave you ka ?? Went to Exotic on Sat with Inv & trowachin. Well it was a fun & frustrating day for us, apparently bite rates to inv & trwoachin wasnt that good according to them, 2 weeks ago was almost 1 cast 1 bite. We landed some good Amazon, baung, plabuk. Lost quite a lot of lines fighting fishes, I lost mine to some thing strong pulling into the propellers machine. Kinda sad because most of our hooked fishes didnt made it to the land. A lot slip & escaped while fighting. Lessons learnt from Exotic : 1) Dont bother going with line below 15lbs 2) go with a rod rating M-MH 3) bring extra rods, if possible 3. 4) Soft plastics works so does deep diving lures. 5) workout those arm muscles & just hang on to the rod This post has been edited by 1dollar: Jan 21 2013, 05:11 PM |

QUOTE(1dollar @ Jan 21 2013, 04:45 PM) when u said cacing,.. as in live earth worms? Reel n rod setup also very dependent on what fish u are targeting. Not to say that you can't go with a UL setup, but from experience, it takes too long to land the average sized Asian red tails on a UL setup. But if u r targeting the jelawat, a UL setup is very fun.You didnt try the zoom worms I gave you ka ?? Went to Exotic on Sat with Inv & trowachin. Asian redtail, preferably ML/M class rods n reels. Amazonian, higher chance to land the big ones with MH setup, above 15lbs line. 20lbs preferably. My fav. Baits to use there would be any soft plastic for jelawat n Asians, while the amazonian will require some deep diving crankbaits. |

Bukit Jalil pond is still muddy? Haven't been there for close to a year, since when they started opening. All those red earth mud goes into the pond every time heavy rain. A hangout place for old uncles fishing for talapia and pak sou kung.

exotic - fyi for anyone like to pilot around there...
WT7 definitely the benchmark. school of lampam jawa behind the aerators will put fun to you on WT5 floating lines. strongly recommend fast or specialized rods. FlyStik #8 or Predator is what i'll be looking to bring next time. less back cast as the rear is tight, best if you can one cast out to clear all your lines. use good shooting line. Rio Tropical Outbound Short is good. Black Woolies, brown woolies, woolies with flashy lateral lines, zonker flies, are effective. P.S - don't need to go too early. go when the Sun's up but before 12pm. Pussies don't eat after 12, mad barbs everywhere. |

Gomoku light Jigging rod is Damn good interns of the action n looks. Tested the rod in ss2 but ended up with the eupro salty fighter.
Gomoku is expensive, I rather get the storm micro jig rod for half the price. Hard to find that micro jig rod now. Regret didn't buy it. |

eupro salty fighter will do just fine ... max jig 80g
the storm micro jigger max is 20g rm190 a li'l expensive .. try scouting a round last i saw, Loon Fatt, Sri Sentosa Old Klang Rd had the gomoku feels quite solid, should fare well with heavier jigs and bigger fish .. about RM200+ i think saw one each at hasya's and sky pond (last weekend) respectively its aesthetics is a personal turn off ... 1pc best, bro hehehehehhe http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=playe...&v=vrFZY40YnHE#! the rod in this vid looks like not enough lifting power ... or ... am i wrong? anyone knows where can get AJN rods? usually entry and med range models are fast moving. Its difficult to give promo to prices that are already low, guess some where in US were having a launching promo and its over now.
Just like the Chronarch and Core in US, price hardly move from the SRP,.. if got also 10-20$ cheaper. |

Let me know the model and I can confirm it.If you say, 1 pair, which 2 bearing are we referring to? Also works with the MGX. These 2 bearings will go on the spool tensioner and the side plate. Viox, to answer to your queries, yes it does fit yr reel. |

montana 650/650t .. i understand there's a 600 model as well ...
beyond my budget for now ... pretty cool actually .. it's cheaper on the whole than getting different units for different activities on a different note, Ocean Sea Seri Kembangan has about 8-10 Gomoku Erito rods .. sticker price rm321. what caught my eye though were STORM BC and spinning rods in bright lemon/corn yellow all the way all 6-footers outfitted with micro guides ... the spinning rod had three K (stripper) guides followed by micro guides the BC reel seat are the split type exposing the blank they come in 6-12lb and 8-17lb versions ... sticker price of rm322 there were 2nd hand spinning tenryu 6-12lb (handle heavy) and silstar (no poundage visible but had a crosshairs/target emblem on the blank ... both about rm300 ... Hi all Anglers,
Obtained the bearing from Bro WWW today. The bearing is rated at ABEC7 SiC bearings in short, ceramic bearings. Below are my test and review. Reel: Shimano Curado 200G6 Spool: with 15lb line approx 100-m Modification: Fine tuning and drag upgraded Standard bearing: 30 seconds Boka bearing with rubber: 34 seconds Boka bearing without rubber: 40 seconds Boka bearing without rubber + lube: 27 seconds Finding the time kind of interesting tho. The orange rubber seal actually touches the inner roller and how come it's faster versus without orange rubber seal,it became slower. Funnily enough, i realised that the Boka bearing without rubber and lubricated can sustain a high RPM within 10 seconds. Once it's reaching 10 seconds, i could hear the spool slowing down as if there is certain light resistance on the shaft. My conclusion: I could not explain why the bearing is slower, particularly when it's basically skeletal. The bearing sustaining at high RPM for the first 10 seconds probably due to the weight of the bearing which is actually lighter compared to stainless steel bearings. Which also explains the quick start/ease of starting the bearing rotation, instead of a heavier bearing. Looking at the bright side, how often or who can actually cast for 10 seconds before the lure drops into the H2O? Having such sustain of high RPM for the first 10 seconds, could actually explains why we are able to hit further distance with such bearing upgrade! For a RM40 upgrade parts, it is easily upgraded and inexpensive to replace Well, that's my take... what's your take or comments? |

Daiwa oil... RUle of Thumb: Bearing--> Oil, Gears-->grease
there's few types you can consider Shimano oil, abu oil, zpi F0, Qplus silicone treated.... Many types tho, i usually depends on the method i'm gonna fish and lube accordingly. If i'm gonna be doing jigging where casting are not required, mostly, i'll be greasing either with QPlus gel grease or slap it with Yamaha blue grease(which is meant for outboard engine) If casting is required in saltwater, i'll be lightly greasing similar to above. Only that above would be lots more where i'll remove the bearing shield and slap the a whole content in. If fresh water casting, then oiling as usual. If you may fish in rapids and arsenals may get wet, then i'll oil it slightly more, rather than a drop. Well, that's just my preference. Regular casting, be it lightly oiled or slightly more - it does not effect much on my distance anyway.... |

Let's see if Bro WWW would be bringing in the other sizes or not...
Bro WWW, The size for MGX is at 3x10x4 (sideplate) : 5x11x4 (spool) The size for Daiwa is at 3x8x4 (sideplate) : 5x11x4 (spool) I reckon to get 10x of 5x11x4 (which can be paired with your current bearing inventory) and 5x of 3x8x4 (which could be paired with the 5x11x4) What say you? Am quite sure a few of the MasterBaiter(caster) here would not mind to give it a try.. |

QUOTE(rorytate @ Jan 29 2013, 10:06 AM) Let's see if Bro WWW would be bringing in the other sizes or not... Thanks for the feedback bro.Bro WWW, The size for MGX is at 3x10x4 (sideplate) : 5x11x4 (spool) The size for Daiwa is at 3x8x4 (sideplate) : 5x11x4 (spool) I reckon to get 10x of 5x11x4 (which can be paired with your current bearing inventory) and 5x of 3x8x4 (which could be paired with the 5x11x4) What say you? Am quite sure a few of the MasterBaiter(caster) here would not mind to give it a try.. Will look into that request. And am planning to bring them in soon. Go MasterBaiters! |

shoulder...?
may be helpful for those who might be interested http://www.bandfishingtackle.com/Waxing-Wa...-Moonphase.html "There are four key moon phases. Waxing, Waning, Cresent, Gibbous. Waxing is when the moon is growing, or getting bigger, Waning is when the moon is getting smaller. A Crescent Moon is when the moon is less then half illuminated and the Gibbous is when the moon is more then half illuminated. When fishing the Waxing Waning Moonphase the general rule is you fish the opposing tide of what the moon is doing. For example if the moon is Waxing or growing then try fishing the outgoing tide and when the moon is Waning getting smaller then try fishing the incoming tide. When the moon is in Crescent form then fish when the moon is at 10 - 2 or 2 -10 o’clock position in the sky. And fishing the moon when it’s directly above or in the 12 o’clock position in the sky is also good. On the Gibbous the same applies. On the full moon it pays to fish on the incoming tide and to fish deeper water, On the New Moon you can fish the out going tide and this is a time you can fish the shallower waters. Tip - the moon could be in these positions on the other side of the world you don’t need to actually see the moon as long as you know the positions at any given time." there's more with helpful diagrams |

So ion cannot go diving i mainly use my gopro (1) for diving lar....gopro 3 now comes standard with flat lens much much clearer underwater videos. i had to buy another housing for my gopro 1. My version is the helmet version, so i wore it on my head while fishing.... i'll see if i could find back the video i took last time... |

less stress all around for both ...
circle hooks work by usually hooking the mouth corners as the fish swims off after taking the bait once it's hooked, you need only hang on to the rod .. then pump and reel as you'd normally do remember not to set or you'll lose the fish last trip, i forgot i was using circle hooks and lost two big fish whereas, my boatmate who helped catch my rod, just hung on and landed the fish ... lololol This post has been edited by acheong7: Jan 31 2013, 11:24 AM |

these are eging reels ... expensive, too ... might no longer be in production
had a friend who sold his for less than rm500 ... uwaaaaaa ... i had no $$$ extreme anglers had a 2nd hand unit on display ... not sure whether still there or not fau, it's more of letting your rod shake, bend, the bells ring, take up the rod and have fun many of us auto strike when we pick up the rod, in this case .. no need because if we do, we're pulling the hook out of the fish's mouth all we do is hang on, then pump and reel pump and reel ... no need to strike |

I just got some 3/0 (Starlit, cheap brand) and 5/0 (Owner) circle hooks today. I tried my best to avoid Gamakatsu.
Youtube still got a lot video about circle hooks. Hopefully I rmb not to strike the rod but reel in. This post has been edited by kumanosuke: Feb 1 2013, 01:58 AM |

QUOTE(acheong7 @ Feb 1 2013, 12:06 AM) sexayyyy .... SiC (silicon carbide) will hold up the best under a braid's abrasion. Stainless steel guides will get grooves cut in them within a year if the rod is used heavily. Regular ceramic guides will last for a while but not as long as the SiC. anyone experience braid cutting into the lip below the line guide? if yes, any idea why, pls? A tungsten carbide tip will prevent a lot of wear to the tip. Works for guides also but are heavier and not so much in use nowadays but they can still be found. And tungsten is very brittle and can break if you drop your rod. Even mono will cut into a SS guide given time. And really not all that much time at that. But if you go out only once or twice a month, whatever guides you have should last for a few years at least. This post has been edited by vioxmonsta: Feb 1 2013, 09:06 AM |

T3 not meant for malaysian big fishes like toman and mama Sebaraus. anyone experience braid cutting into the lip below the line guide? if yes, any idea why, pls? think one of the model already replaced with a metal plate to avoid that problem. |

'normal' is very subjective given there are categories
eg purpose, brand, material, range, strength, length, type as in luring, cranking, bottom, casting, trolling, fly yamaga, mudhole, daiwa, shimano, etc, etc, etc fibreglass, composite, graphite, resin formulae PE or lb range, max or best drag rating ... take your pick 1pc, 2pc, multi pc ... the list goes on ... you get the idea so, what is 'normal' ? |

rod roller for epoxy application and drying rm200+ (DIY cheap cheap guides cost anything from the tens to the hundreds per set (number and type of guides depends on your needs, ie spin, bc, fly, deep sea, etc) reel seat oso the same, tens to hundreds handles won't be expensive (<rm100 or <rm50, again subject to EVA, hypalon, cork, wood, custom) alternative, buy good but cheap, cheap but good rod ... strip it down and re-do This post has been edited by acheong7: Feb 7 2013, 12:22 PM |

QUOTE(acheong7 @ Feb 7 2013, 12:23 PM) thank you very much, rory Great!!would love to take you up on the offer time ... and i'm all thumbs when it comes to finer stuff I was just hoping to share and show to fellow anglers how a rod is being built and of course with all the consideration in hand... Fellow anglers, These are the questions that you may need to answer TO YOURSELF before building a rod 1. What type of rod? Casting/jigging/surf/spinning - Casting rod: Graphite construction, thin wall, light weighted, length, type of action, fast, slow, mid - Jigging rod: what is the PE that is required, length, type of jigging performed, long stroke, short, speed, size of reel etc...etc...etc... 2. What is your budget for the rod blank? 3. How much time can you spare for making this blank on daily basis. 4. Then the rest flow of step by step would be varied due to personal requirements As for the accessories, it's not ex too. EVA handle: RM25 1strip of 1.5ft as i recalled Reel seat: RM25 Guides: Taiwan SIC RM100 Fuji SIC RM350 Fuji LowRider SIC RM450+ Wrapping thread: RM15~20 each color Epoxy: RM75 but i reckon sharing as you dont use much of the epoxy The prices above are for reference only. Tools required: 1. Drill 2. Sand paper 3. Empty box 4. Dictionary/phone book 5.10cc Syringe x2 DISCLAIMER: This method is not the best method and it would be a spinning hand tired spinning the threads onto the guides. There are no automation parts here, except for the drill and drying motor. This is the most basic way of rod building. |

QUOTE(RT712 @ Feb 12 2013, 08:01 PM) Happy CNY and happy holidays everyone! hey dude. happy cny to you too. I do stringing from home in subang jaya.Btw, bro inv, may I know where is your shop for restringing tennis racket and roughly how long does it take ? Thanks depending on the strings and string-pattern, usually around 40min-45min per string job, but i normally do overnight, means, u send in today, collect tomorrow, mostly due to security concerns and all that. |
