Hi bros, I just want to ask about the requirements for a fishing rod to be able to fish offshore? What's the correct range of weight for the rod being able to withstand and so on? Just a rough idea will do, Im new to fishing.

Deep sea fishing ?
are you in for the fighting game ,.. are you a risk taker? Losing a fish means a story to tell and share with experience gained
or are you someone must tarpow home or must land the fish?
Also something to think about,.. jigging, bait fishing, popping all require different set of tools and gears.
Sea depth also play a role on what reel size to get.
Reels:
Safest to go with a spinning reel as it is more versatile towards any sort of fishing.
General 30-60m depth i think Size 4000 - 6000 reel is more than enough
if you going really deep and far out,.. you may nee 8000 size and above.
Rods :
Light/Micro jigging requires some sort of very soft tip and strong backbone. Some thing like PE0.5-1.5
Normal jigging for those normal ang cho and teingiri off klang... PE2 - 4 (longer handles to kepit under arm)
Bottom fishing (1 sword kill all) PE3-6
Popping and trolling has similarities ... not sure of that, havent tried.
