Hi Guys, can anyone recommend a shop with good service & affordable price for servicing lpbc in Klang Valley? I plan to send my Abu Promax which I've been using close to a year now for some servicing.
*
there's a few shop you could try, red hot anglers in tmn megah, extreme anglers in ss4, ocean sea tackle in seri kembangan. both red hot and extreme anglers have long waiting list. dunno about ocean sea though..

J&J paypond, just opened last month

guys, was cleaning up my reel, and i can feel the drag its not smooth, any idea what causes it and how to fix it? i know sending to the shop for servicing cost around 10-20, but will that solve the prob? TQ  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif

take out your drag washers, wash it using zippo fluid, then reapply drag greese and reinstall.

i didn't know that the drag need greasing.. i stripped mine open and try to dry the grease... doh.gif
*
depend on material used on drags. carbontex washes don't need grease but some tutorial/videos do recommend to put a light film of grease as per usual.

top of the spool. there will be a wire retainer holding the drag to the spool.

QUOTE(SneakyLeaky @ Apr 11 2013, 09:40 PM)
hey guys, i am looking for a rod, i need some suggestions. below are my specifications biggrin.gif

light weight rod - carbon fiber or any other substitute
medium length - around 170cm
lever drag reel

* rod and reel strength for up to 20kg of weight

my budget around RM200, is this even possible?
*
i believe that you get what you pay for. there's a chinese saying, 1 cent money 1 cent goods. a typical local branded rod will set you back at least rm100 and any reel below rm100 won't be able to handle 20kg. i suggest you pay kepong tackle a visit and re-evaluate your budget. of course, there might be hidden gems around but i have yet to know of any...

QUOTE(SneakyLeaky @ Apr 13 2013, 02:03 PM)
hey guys, i wanna ask something

is it possible for attaching a lever drag reel (small one) on a bait casting rod?

and

where would you guys recommend for a fish tackle shop? Thx!
*
kepong tackle!

thanks a lot! really appreciate your advice

i am looking forward to get a shorter rod (baitcasting rod) and still be able to handle large fish but i think that is really hard coz the ones i saw back at my hometown can only handle
up to 20lbs at best lol.
*
for freshwater, the common poundage is the 8-17lbs range. like previous advice, don't bring a gun to a sword fight and don't bring a sword to a gun fight.

i'm curious, why do you need such heavy gear for? most freshwater setup max out at 30lbs and that also ppl use it to pull out amazonian redtails in exotic.. haha..

Lighter than d older model, micro guide systems with more sensitive tip.wouldnt say worth the money since its rm460-rm500.but definitely u could get better rods with on the price ur paying this rod.btw if you look bottom of the handle u might see a made in china sticker.
*
most of the JDM rods around that price range is sure to be made in china.
