Sorry, should be extender mode... I've got no problem with the TP Link... It is only with the Asus that I've experienced dropouts and disconnections... Sometimes I can't connect the Asus router at all, saying password is wrong. After restarting the Asus then only I can connect back.

Tried already, firmware is up to date out of the box. There was even once the firmware reset itself after turning on from a long break. Sending the router in for warranty claim is one thing, I cannot afford the down time. That's why I'm looking for alternatives here.

The first RT-N12HP I bought for another house as a standalone router, it was super reliable, ran for months without needing to restart to this day. Should be 2 years old by now.

Bought a second unit of the same model for my house as an extender, mana tau performance is so unreliable.

In fact the first reliable unit runs a slightly older firmware in comparison, which makes me think better not to update the firmware of the reliable unit, just in case it screws up like the 2nd unit does.

For those who use Asus RT-AC86U, can I use the Asus phone app and access the router remotely?

Currently using OEM TM router(Unifi50mb package) which placed at my 1st floor back room. I always get slow n on n off wifi connection for my Phone n Smart tv. I planned to buy Asus AC1300UHP. Is that a good choice or over range? Daily usage is 2 phones and Smart tv for NEtflix. PC connected to LAN for download n DOta.

Hi guys I cannot configure my asus router, been using it for like 3 years RT-N12HP.. i enter the my password its says wrong password (i just log in like a week ago using same password). And tried default password to no avail.

All above i try using ASUS apps via my phone.

I cant enter at all using my pc (192.168.1.1) it says didnt sent any data.

Internet all is ok just cannot enter setting..anyone can help?

Finally got time to do a review of the Asus Blue Cave wireless router.

Great device with really good performance, the coverage and wireless performance significantly better than my RT-AC68U. On the RT-AC68U you would imagine around 100Mbps on 5Ghz after a single wall while the Blue Cave is still comfortably pushing close to 300Mbps.

Of course, it comes with the full suit of AsusWRT features and a recent update added AiMesh compatibility. You have to update all your Asus routers to the latest firmware for that.

Intel is not fooling around when they say they are making wireless chipset as the Blue Cave is powered by Intel. Everything is top notch and I think it worths the price and certainly a big upgrade.

WAN to LAN throughput is tested to be Gigabit capable (~900 after overhead) so it is certainly Unifi Turbo 800Mbps compatible.

IP Camera can easily saturate a typical wireless connection and he got 8 of them. Not to mention that IP camera runs on 2.4Ghz only. 

Range extender is only going to make things worst. Get another access point and hope for the best.

Consider mesh solution.

An easy workaround is to shift the VLAN trunking job to a dedicated Switch instead of the router.

Internet will work reliably but some users face issue with HyppTV as it involves multicast and QoS.

If you have changes or RMA your original router without replacing the original DDNS with other DDNS, then the original DDNS will bind with the original router.

And if you want to use back the original DDNS, please provide me the original router serial number and MAC address, I will request HQ to release the DDNS.

.. router 1 (main) grdflr, router 2 wireless upper floor, opposite diagonal 40ft away.
.. assuming devices are common ones with 5ghz - smart tv, tablets, android boxes.

.. what max speed can i expect if device cable connected to router 2?
.. what max wifi speed can i expect at grdflr, upper flr?
.. can i expect good coverage (>200mbps) at all corners with these 2 meshed?
