QUOTE(hnr2802 @ May 23 2017, 07:12 PM) hi do anyone know how to setup voip with asus router. My office has a UniFi connection with Internet + 6 VoIP phone lines. Since the TM Router can't handle the load of all the users we want to change the router to a more powerful one What kind of VOIP system do you have?

QUOTE(SimonsayZ @ May 25 2017, 08:58 AM) Thank you bro for the reply. How about this router RT-AC1200G? Is this good enough? It's a new model right? It is a good router for the price. Decently spec'ed and stable firmware. Check out my review here. http://www.blacktubi.com/review/asus-rt-ac1200g-review/

QUOTE(zuhaili87 @ May 25 2017, 07:32 PM) Hey bro is the ac1200g signal strength as strong as rt-n12hp which has 2*9dbi? Im using n12hp now, looking for a replacement for it since it didnt have ac. 5Ghz is much weaker than 2.4Ghz. But 2.4Ghz should be pretty much the same.

QUOTE(yongtjunkit @ Jun 11 2017, 05:13 PM) Do you know which dns have that feature? You can try OpenDNS family shield. You can't specify your own website unfortunately. You have to go for an enterprise firewall solution if you need HTTPS blocking.

QUOTE(yongtjunkit @ Jun 11 2017, 08:40 PM) How about opendns home? I've tried it before setting the dns on the asus router but doesn't seem to work with my settings ( the firewall built in to the router works just only mobile apps for some reason still able to access the website) Where you set it? You should configure it at the Internet configuration page. The built-in content filtering feature does not support encrypted connection, you need enterprise gear for that.

QUOTE(davidman82 @ Jun 12 2017, 02:53 PM) currently I replace TM original router with ASUS AC1200G+. Everything was fine with my UNIFI and hypp tv but the problem occurs on my android tv box(Unblocked tech), it cant be connected. IS there any setting has to be done to enable it? Weird, make sure UPNP is enabled.

QUOTE(cipollll @ Jun 22 2017, 07:59 AM) What can asus router offer the best budget for this situation: I'm a gamer, needing a constant low ping without any lag/spike and would like to utilize the 5ghz band. Distance from router to pc is like 5 meters divided by a wall. I searched around the forum and seems like most people have good experience with asus which i agree because i use asus router myself but its been bad lately due to inteference (2.4ghz sucks nowadays). I think i'll just spend a little bit on asus router than some shady reviewed cheap router. Hope some of you can recommend me one. Even the RT-AC1200G+ can do a decent job for a 5 meter distance. I am currently rocking the RT-AC66U B1, it is a rather significant improvement over the cheaper RT-AC1200G+ and RT-AC55UHP.

QUOTE(ShinnKQ @ Jun 28 2017, 07:09 PM) Thanks for the reply guys. I can confirm it originated from the router :/ I used my iPhone Fing app to ping the router and it also shows shit ping results. LAN cable works fine on laptop btw, shows <1ms consistently...seems the N12D1 model is not very good :/ I didnt buy better routers because there are not many users using this router (only 1 heavy user)... Distance is very short btw, maybe 2 meters? Signal is generally full bar because its only blocked by 1 layer of concrete...well door(wooden)... Problem is its not very consistent (repeatability of high ping is fairly random) so I am having a hard time finding the cause of it lol. This is a common issue with 2.4Ghz nowadays. The band is getting too congested and there's a lot of things that will interfere with it. Bluetooth, dect phone and microwave oven all run on 2.4Ghz. I face similar issue previously and manage to fix it recently. Apparently, one of my neighbours is using a wireless baby monitor which messed up the 2.4Ghz band.

QUOTE(largepants @ Jul 4 2017, 11:20 PM) Hi, over the Raya break a few days after, the 5 GHz worked very well. It even came up normally when the router was power cycled. Starting 3rd July, the 5 GHz did not appear when the router was switched on. It showed up after rebooting via the web GUI. Today (4th July), the 5 GHz did not appear at all regardless of reboots and power cycles. About the only thing I haven't tried is another factory reset. Do I try factory reset again? System log for 27th June (working 5 GHz) and 4th July attached. Well, RT-AC87U is known for 5Ghz issues due to the Quantenna chip it uses and I found an easy fix. Try cooling your router with a fan. It sounds funny but it works for me. If you have a third party firmware like Merlin, you can see the 5Ghz chip is constantly overheating.

QUOTE(largepants @ Jul 5 2017, 06:52 AM) I've had this router sitting on an old laptop cooler when I first got it. I figured since has that dual-core processor with all the functions, any cooling solution built-in would be minimally adequate and could use any help it gets. Currently, the temps are 2.4 GHz-> 42 °C, 5 GHz -> 56 °C, CPU -> 61 °C and usually deviates a few degrees based on usage. Well, I guess there is not much we can do on this. Try googling RT-AC87U 5Ghz, there's a lot of users with such issue. There's a lot of suggested fix to try.

QUOTE(jusbella @ Jul 5 2017, 07:54 AM) Then maybe Asus will produce same model with different version hardware in future? No idea on this. Just get the RT-AC88U or RT-AC68U. Both are Broadcom based.

QUOTE(saf @ Jul 10 2017, 05:54 PM) Hi ASUSmy, Appreciate if you could revert on this issue... Still not EOL according to this list. https://www.asus.com/event/network/EOL-product/RT-AC55UHP not even close to RT-AC68U. RT-AC68U is almost 2x the price FYI.

QUOTE(RViN @ Jul 12 2017, 11:26 AM) The ASUS printer sharing utility causes random BSOD (blue screen errors) on any PC I install it on, be it running Windows 7 or Windows 10. Searched for the issue online and saw that its due to the Asus software using some archaic version of the drivers. So I've stopped using it for almost a year now, and have to setup the printer the manual way which is annoying. Has this been resolved? Does it work fine for everyone now? I used a TP Link device before this and it worked perfect, never had any issues and could share both the printer and scanner function. I miss that. Don't use the EZ Printer Sharing Utility, the LPD setup is perfect for my Epson printer. Set it up once and never need to change anything. https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/114024/

QUOTE(Skoosha @ Jul 14 2017, 02:36 AM) Thanks, but not any 12V - 2A will work.. I need someone to confirm the polarity of the barrel plug.. If the transformer doesn't have any of those symbols, could someone check it with a multi meter? Positive polarity.

QUOTE(narutokun83 @ Jul 14 2017, 12:29 PM) Hi, I have a RT N12HP wireless router and the drop in WiFi speed is significant. It happened after my speed was upgraded from 30 to 50mbps by Unifi. Previously from my room which is about 20 feet from the router was a steady 15 to 20mbps. After the upgrade, I'm getting 1 to 3mbps. Even from my bathroom which is about to 5 feet the speed drops drastically. I read somewhere I should get a dual band router to solve the issue. Before I purchase another router, is there a solution for my RT N12HP? Try this config Channel 6, 20Mhz
