Maybe you can try plugging to the router directly when that happen.

Sounds like powerline to me.

Hi Guys,

Can you please advise if the RT-N12HP router supports 100mbps unifi ?
Cause do speedtest manage to get 50mbps only.
Whereas the TM TPlink one manage to get 100mbps.

Thanks
*
This is a single band wireless N router. The TP-Link is Wireless AC capable.

I have been beta running this system with 2 RT-AC68U for quite some time already

The performance is better than Asus Lyra but that's totally expected considering RT-AC68U is a higher spec router

Hi Sifu,

Currently my Asus RT AC68U using Merlin Firmware 3.0.0.4.378.50. I know very old firmware.

Can I just update to the latest firmware or I need update to certain firmware first before upgrade to the latest one?
*
Should be able to update to the latest firmware. Make sure you factory reset or clear NVRAM after the update.

You can just proceed to recovery if something wrong happened.

I see. I read from here. It said

" Starting with Asus's 3.0.0.4.380_3000 and upward, a new firmware format is used. To flash Asuswrt-Merlin on one of these newer firmwares, you will need 380.61 or newer. Likewise, downgrading to an older version is not supported (try firmware recovery mode if you really need to downgrade)

The RT-AC68U and RT-AC56U need to be at least on firmware 378.55 (or the last 378.xxx version from Asus) before you can flash 380.xx, due to the partition size change. "

Just wanna double confirm before I proceed my update, I scare I brick it  sad.gif
*
In that case you should flash the 378.55 firmware, reset than upgrade again. biggrin.gif

It is incredibly bard to brick the RT-AC68U, the recovery is always there.

Just get myself a new ASUS RT-AC1300UHP router...

however when i connect using 5GHZ band wifi, noticed that the signal seem easily drop and reconnect back frequently... any one using RT-AC1300UHP and have the same problem?

No issue for 2.4GHZ band wifi, it worked just fine..
*
This is totally normal due to how physics work.

5Ghz is a higher frequency than 2.4Ghz. As frequency gets higher, the signal penetration decreases. As such, the range of 5Ghz is much lower than 2.4Ghz.

You would wonder in that case what is the point of 5Ghz? Well, 5Ghz have much more non-overlapping channels than 2.4Ghz and it is subjected to less congestion. It also support much higher speed as well.

The general consensus is to use 5Ghz whenever possible and switch to 2.4Ghz when you are further to the router. 2.4Ghz will typically outperform 5Ghz at signal edge so I would recommend only use 5Ghz when you are at the same room or the room next to the router.

Remember, 5Ghz for performance and 2.4Ghz for range.

I've no idea why I cant seem to connect to my AC68U from outside. Tried using the DDNS asuscomm.com but failed, tried connecting to the WAN IP failed as well. No issue with the asus app on iOS though.

If you wish to access the webUI, you have to do this.

I have been using TP-Link TD-W8960N modem/router for my Streamyx 8Mbps as there is no Unifi or Time Fibre in my place.
In order to squeeze the most out of streamyx 8Mbps, I just bought a Asus RT-AC1200G+ wireless router and intent to use TD-W8960N in bridge mode.
However I have problem connecting to the internet.
Encountered PPPoE Authentication Failure. Internet Status indicate Ïnvalid account or password"
I double and treble check Streamyx ID ( xxxx@streamyx) and password that I input in RT-AC1200G+ and found to be correct. I reset and did Quick installation as well as manually inputing Streamyx ID and password but still having Authentication failure problem.
Any inputs and help to solve the problem will be most appreciated.
Thank You

You will still need to use the TD-W8960N but you have to put it on Bridge mode then connect it to the RT-AC1200G+

Hi, where can I buy the power adapter for RT-N66U (19V 1.58A) ? If not available, if I buy the power adapter (let's say 19V 2.37/3.42/4.74A) for asus laptop, does it has similar tip as the asus router?
*
Maybe Asus CS will be able to help you but the tip for Asus laptop is typically much bigger.

hi. currently im using Maxis fibre but using non stock router so i wanna ask which one of the Asus router that's capable of providing jack for telephone just the one like the stock router has? thank you
*
What SilentVampire said is right

All new Asus routers support Maxis Fibre but you still have to retain the default router for VOIP.

All Internet will go through the Asus router so the Maxis router will only handle VOIP.

i think i've read somewhere that an Asus router can use voip function but needing a Cat5e to RJ45 adapter

anyway which router do u guys recommend for a 2 storey house? thanks
*
It is not a direct RJ45 to RJ11 conversion, the Maxis router is required to handle VOIP in order to work with conventional phones.

RT-AC1300UHP is a good choice, maybe consider the RT-AC68U, one of the best router from Asus

Consider PCIE wireless adapter of you use a PC.

They are much more stable than the USB Interface.

ASUS Lyra user here. Do you guys use through WiFi to connect or Ethernet? There is one pack where I used Ethernet to connect cause WiFi is quite weak.. the Ethernet always disconnect and connect to the WiFi instead whereby have weaker connection. Anyone know how to set just connect Ethernet instead of WiFi? Thanks
*
I manage to get this to work. You have to follow Asus guide over here.
https://www.asus.com/my/support/FAQ/1034951

Make sure you have the latest firmware and only connect them via Ethernet when the color of the status LED is blue/cyan. If the connection is successful, it will turn green on the wired Lyra.

I realise there's no way to see if they are running on wired mode on the app so you have to rely on the LED colour. Maybe ASUSmy can feedback this to the HQ as a handy feature to add to the app.

https://www.asus.com/my/Networking/Lyra/HelpDesk_BIOS/
The firmware released on November 20th (Version 3.0.0.4.382.11389) is required for wired mode feature.

Attached Image
The middle Lyra is my main Lyra and the green one is the wired one. The Lyra on the left is still on wireless backhaul mode. Take note on how my Lyra devices are connected. The Black Ethernet cable is connected to my ISP.

Let me know if you need further help smile.gif
