lets not get carried away with WP8 here. its still not as good as iOS or android. I wouldnt go around recommending people to jump to WP8 yet especially for the hardcore smart phone users. the good news is its not that far away (1 major update away IMO).

Anyway yes you are right. If you love apps.. then not the phone for you. Better stick with Android and Ios. If you like a change and a smooth as silk OS, join the club. I am a hardcore Android user, and this is really a breath of fresh air. Love it . Just awaiting a few more apps to appear and then we are golden.

Actually I have something to share.. my usage has been similiar for the past two days, but my battery life is lasting longer. No games (don't play games), only facebook (push), whatsapp, mail (push) and some calls. I think the bat life is getting better after a week.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Notification is not an issue for me. My issue is searching for files on my device. I wish there was universal device search like on iOS.

its not just apps. some other basic things needed.

- needs notification center
- i would like the mail app to always show how many unread emails. not just how many new emails.
- mail app search function. its too basic. i cannot search "from" or "subject"
- individual app volume control. i have to reduce volume whenever i am listening to music and then increase again after i am done.
- app updates. how to check if my apps needs updates?
- better youtube integration
- there should an option to show signal bars and battery % at all times

Can you please elaborate? The main usage of my phones is social networking. So, besides making calls and using the sms function, I need to be able to use Wechat, Whatsapp, Viber, Tango. Need instant notification of incoming messages lest I miss out on certain events.

Is the 920 efficient on this? TQ.

Toast notification works okay (it send a notification of new Whatsapp messages etc) while the phone is active you will get instant notification and the Toast Notification lasts for 6-7 seconds.

The problem is that it does not have a Notification Centre (like the iOS) so if you missed the Toast Notification, you will have to manually checked each individual app to see if you did get any notification. If you put the Whatsapp in the Live tile, you'll see the notification indicator, same with Facebook etc. But if they are not in the live tile, then it's a hassle to look for it.

It just needs a notification centre which I believed MS was unable to complete before they launched the new OS. It is said that the next major update (not portico) will include a notification centre.

Thanks. Then it is ok. I will just put a live tile for each of my social network apps since on the respective tiles, when I on my phone, they will show how many messages there are, right?

1. For the time being, use Live Tiles.

2. Not possible. There's only 1 Live Tile, so you have to decide. Either new mails or unread mails and many people prefer new over unread.

3. True, search needs improvement.

4. Volume profiles would solve the problem. Still waiting.

5. Your phone will check for updates on a daily basis. Look out for Marketplace app, you will see numbers.

6. Not possible. Bring this to Google instead.

7. In my opinion, it's a waste of space. Who wants to be looking at those unnecessary information all the time? There's an app for battery life though.

To tell you the truth, when I was using the iPhone 4s, I don't use the notification at all other than going in there to clear the notifications! Most of the time, the badge system employed by iOS was enough for me. same thing with WP8, the badge system (the icon with the number in the live tile) is enough for me.

Agreed. Android changed or lets say spoilt me when it came to notifications smile.gif. I know that IOS is still pretty bad when it comes to notifications compared to android.

Lack of notification centre doesn't bother me, but if future updates will have it, it will be very great indeed.

I do agree that wp8 should add universal search and the separate volume control. It annoys me to have to adjust my volume for the ringtone and when watching movie/play game etc
