Unless you fly a lot of long hauls, it's difficult to get enough elite miles for gold.....it's easier to do it with elite sectors if you are flying mostly domestic....

the mh redemption system is still down....no option for redemption, only cash and miles, which is a joke if you see the value they assign to miles....

i was looking to redeem to lhr next may....there is confirmed j seats with sq.....and mh is playing stupid with their redemption system....so locked in a one stop j journey via changi....

Yes, still cash and miles, with the miles to completely replace cash crazily exorbitant....really a useless programme now...,

A few years ago, I managed to claim retrospective miles under QF program with enrich redemption....I think that time, the booking code doesn't different and somehow mh didn't tell QF it's redemption....

Subsequent tries failed....

The rate of redemption is different when doing cash and miles, compared to full redemption....even under the current revenue based system.....it's always more expensive doing cash and miles compared to full redemption....

Not redeeming at the moment, waiting to see if they put it back....if they don't, then try call, but it's so much more hassle than checking and booking online....to think in the recent past they encouraged online redemption by giving 15% discount....!

generally, to redeem j will cost about double the miles needed for y.....for zone or distance based system....

in actual money cost, j is 4 times y.....so in revenue based system like enrich, the miles needed for j is ridiculously high.....making j redemption under enrich not worth it....

check the cash you still have to pay....it's really rubbish system now....

i sham book one way lhr to kul in y, full fare 546 pounds...use miles MAX it allows is 32,900 miles, and still wants me to pay 254 pounds.....

with j class, it's 3272 quid, it allows only max 114,000 miles redemption, and still wants 1827 pounds in cold hard cash....

trying from kl.....it's rm2176, or 45k miles + RM106......for j its rm13,473 or 116,000miles + rm5728...

with krisflyer, it's 92,000 miles full redemption with RM150 cash.....

A thought occurred to me....if you redeem flights, you don't get miles or elite sectors....

But if you use miles and pay.....do you get elite sectors and miles?.....

Yes, based on the conditions of redemption....both full and part redemption considered redemption and no miles.or sectors awarded....

just redeemed to bne....y unfortunately, as j redemption is out of this world....

called the call centre....no more full redemption website, only cash and miles....but "full redemption" can be done by sliding the redemption bar full to the right.....well, supposed to be....

cannot be done, as after sliding fully to the right, there is always some cash upfront over and above the taxes needed to pay....

the cs officer says that's not supposed to happen....asked me to take picture and forward to the centre....

redemption through call centre incurs an extra RM80 over online redemption.....

then, after changing name (redeeming for wife), cannot change enrich number....

after booking completed, can amend details, so when back into booking to change the enrich number....final result....now booking has TWO enrich numbers....

mh website/system is full of bugs.....

to top it all, redemption forces you to the basic pricing, which is rm800 more than the cheapest promo price....thus forcing you to use more miles in the revenue price system mh uses.....

Plus RM80 for call centre surcharge....

My point is using the online booking system....not calling the call center....

The miles required is revenue based, so depends on the actual price of tickets.....in addition, they do not base the price on any promo price, but the economy basic or business flex price....so a low promo cash fare they may have is not translated into lower miles.....

Yes..... except that most times you cannot pay full with miles....still pay some cash....plus of course the taxes etc

According to the cS agent, it's not supposed to be there, so he asked me to email the technical support.....which I have...it's not a large sum, like turki says..... but still means it's not full redemption....

Yes.... they say the miles and cash serves the same function, and thus full miles redemption option removed....and it does make sense for mh's revenue based system.....swipe full right to perform full redemption.....except the small glitch....

Others like kf still use the zone based system, and their part pay by miles system is separate (and actually poor value) from zone based full redemption....

You are only allowed to slide up to the max miles you have.....but it's linear, you can calculate how many you need for full redemption.....

There is a difference between travelling in j class.....and having procession of enrich gold/platinum status.....

If you are not enrich status entitled, but is travelling on a MH business class ticket, you will have access to the designated lounge for that airport.....in msia and LHR, it's the golden lounge.....in other airports, it's any lounge MH has an arrangement with for their j passengers to use....eg in Changi, it's the sats premium lounge in T2.....in Melbourne it's the QF international business lounge.....in Penang the plaza premium lounge....If there are other oneworld lounges, you should have access too....

On the other hand, if you have enrich gold or platinum status, and hence oneworld sapphire or emerald status, irrespective of class of travel, as long as you are flying with a oneworld airline, you and one guest can enter any oneworld member lounges in any airport....that really opens a lot of options....

Eg, if I fly MH sin-kch in y....with enrich gold, I can enter the excellent QF j lounge at Changi, or the BA lounge or the MH 3rd party partner sats premier lounge....if flying BNE-MEL with QF, use the Qantas club lounge in BNE domestic....

And get this....if departing nrt with any oneworld airline, one of the 4, or ALL of the 4 options available.....JAL, cx, aa, or QF....yes, you can SURF lounges if you have the time!.....lol

Yes, I got a reply email yesterday saying they have "resolved" the matter.....

tried the same redemption, miles required same, but now cash about rm20 less....

i have given up on enrich j class.....only using it for y now....

kf j to lhr is only 92k miles with very small cash.....
