I saw in the June statement email that ask us "stay tuned for more offers like our Great Business Class Redemption Sale".. hope it is something attractive and travel period give longer time..

Btw.. does anyone here hold the CIMB Enrich World Mastercard? Is there a first year annual fee waiver?
*
We will see how 'great' it is...but based on recent 'sales', it will likely not be destinations I need to go to...whereas the current discount is across the board....

I think I will lock in Melbourne in December before they scrape the discount....

looks like there is some problem with mh enrich members' access to oneworld lounges overseas...

the information is also not accurate....enrich silver has no automatic entitlement to the golden lounge...

This is referring to emirates flight codeshare with MAS only i suppose.
*
No, it refers to one world alliance....ek does not belong to any alliance....

But still useful....as the only CC points airline frequent flyer programme you can actually get confirmed seats....the others are always 'wait list'...

True and if you prefer direct flight, then MAS is a good option. However, not really hard to get seats on Cathay, it depends. For short haul like to HKG, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, etc, reasonably easy to get on CX business class. Hence MAS sure lose out on these short hauls
*
my travels are mostly to australia....and i have not found any confirmed redemption seat there on both sq and cx....i don't bother with short hauls anyway....

depends on date lo biggrin.gif

Of course....

I have not found any confirmed seats to Australia within the next 6 months....and it's not always possible to plan so far ahead....most trips are firmed within 3 months of departure...

Whatever you say about enrich, the fact remains that you can almost always find confirmed seats....

Makes planning with sq and Cx difficult....waitlisting is not an viable planning option...

Even you could get a confirmed seat with CX, does it make sense for your to fly to northern hemisphere and do a transit there and fly to southern hemisphere?
*
For long haul, it's still viable....not uncommon to connect at hk to oz/nz or Europe....

Had a chance to sample MH's new J seats on the A330, and CX's J on the A350 last month. Much improved compared the old cradle seats on MH credit to where its due. The throne seat especially 1K is good, a lot of storage space.

The A350's J is like a refreshed version of their long haul J on their 77Ws. To compare, both are comfy lie flats, but MH's A330 is pretty basic compared to CX's. Also the newly opened Pier J is
*
In what way is Cx j better than mh?...

I have only 2 experiences with j products, mh 380 and the old 330....and ek 777....and while anything is better than the sloping old 330, the mh380 is better than ek 777...

As to golden lounge, I can say it's not any worse than qf lounge at BNE....

Thanks...yes the cx looks a bit more roomy....I will be on mh to Mel in December so we will see....

Ek j is claustrophobic.... narrow seats with too much metal and plastic around you...

The mh 380 j is still the best...

The pier looks nice....but rather empty?...

Yeah it's rather empty. Its between gate 61-63. which is around15-20 minutes if you decide to walk after clearing immigration. I figure maybe that's why.

I dropped by The Cabin also it was very very very crowded. Spent 10 minutes there then went back to The Pier. Anyways if you're interested in lounge hopping there is The Pier, The Cabin, The Wing, and The Bridge  cool2.gif  cool2.gif

By when? Then, the A380 serves where?
*
The first 350-900s should arrive next year....

The 380s will be sold (no market for 2nd hand 380s) or leased (limited charter leases, eg haj flights)...they are due for heavy maintenance anyway, so rather strangely mh has restored one of the old 747s as interim equipment for lhr....

This is another new low from MH, they are trying to do comparison between AirAsia and MH. Have you guys seen SQ comparing themselves to AirAsia or Tiger Air?

http://www.malaysiaairlines.com/my/en/plan...html#farewidget
*
something wrong with the maths there...

but they do have a point....nowadays i check with all airlines when i need to fly....and not infrequently, mh fares comes up to little more than aa...even lower sometimes...after you have factored in all the additional charges....

Very good idea for the haj charter flight, tabung haji should be able to pay for it

it is not economically viable to keep aircrafts just for charter flights a month in the year...

Second hand aircraft market is always LCC or 2nd/3rd tier airlines....which do not have enough pax to fill a 380 on >10hr sectors....they use single aisle or smaller wide bodies like 330s and 777s....

And seriously?.... they mothballed the retro 747 again?....too many cooks changing hands mid way through the cooking.....

A380 business class and A350 biz class, which one more class?
*
There is no information on mh's 350 j seats....but they will likely adopt the system of the newly upgraded 330 j seats....I have not tried the new 330 ones, but looking at the pictures, it looks narrower than the 380 seats....

The 380 j seats are pretty awesome, full flat, and wide enough to turn around lying down without hitting your face against plastic or metal....
