this may sound very finicky but best not to use the term "losing space" because you don't lose it..you can delete it if you need..the more accurate term is "use space" or "eat up space". Its up to you if you're OK with using internal storage, its a matter of personal preference also. For me, i prefer using a pendrive cos I can have a lot of nandroid backups and just in case for some reason one of them fails or is a broken one, I can restore to another one..with the limited amount of internal storage, you can only backup so much before you have to clear some of your backups. Food for thought

How you restore ? You cannot use toolkit to restore if is different rom. You will have errors
Use titanium to restore only missing apps . Or use super backup app but dont think can get data associated with apps.

In my past 4 years I have never faced crashing problem's at all restoring from TB
TB will not restore any incompatible apps unless is cracked. There will be a summary notice on how many apps fail to restore

I installed ahem titanium backup pro for more than a week, observed my N7 battery temperature became warm and chrome browser lagging. Decided to buy the origin one, and installed it just now. Now chrome become smooth as new. Not sure it was psychology or what.

detecting = always related to driver. Usually most drivers from W7 are compatible with W8. But, I'm not sure for android drivers.

You first make sure you have installed all drivers correctly - including debugging.

Then you will not have problem to connect it.

Number of apps running on the background is mostly the reason behind the increase in temperature. Always check how many application you have running openly by pressing the most right side on screen button and close them one by one by sliding left/right.

Background apps syncing = most people will not bother turning this off for apps that you dont need syncing.

Lagfix and Seeder is a good app for this matter. Some say placebo but really, read the mechanism behind before judgng.
