Yes, PTPTN is only local degree and will not loan for students who study abroad. Also, Master studies will not be loaned by them.

this sspn thing is for new applicants only right?
*
if you already have your loan , you wont need one .

anyone planning to obtain a loan from some date in January 2008 onwards would need a sspn account to even be considered for a ptptn loan

I am confused bout PTPTN now.

According to my friend, we can apply with the OMR form again and don't need to apply online. Is it true?

I prefer to apply manually so that I don't need to go to BSN to buy the pin to log in.

the online application is only for TAR college students . IINM its the only way to apply if you're from TARC

anyways , buying the pin is easy , just get a number , go to counter , fill up name and IC , pay rm5 . fin smile.gif

I am a TARC student. I skipped the briefing about the PTPTN but my friend who went for the briefing told me that the OMR way is back.

If there's manual way, I would choose manual way. Anyway, we Advance Diploma students still can't apply for PTPTN. We still haven't get our CGPA result.

thats mean it divide to 50% every 3 month
Before this all total amount of loan will inserted in one time
Do you think it helping student from become kaki joli katak or it just make student life worst

wah how u'd get tht??mine oni comes every half yearly.Abt the total amount going in at one go,i think there were actually alot of students becoming kaki joli so PTPTN decided to dispense at intervals. What do u mean by it making student life wost?

BTW,is there anyway that i can apply to borrow more money from PTPTN?My current loan amount barely covers my tuition fees from each sem.

Are you sure the online application is only for TARC students? I thought MMU students are also applying online? Well, at least they did for 2007. Don't about this year. Anyone from MMU here can clarify this?

Yes, you can still apply for PTPTN for twinning programme as long as you are studying locally. Students from Taylors, Metropolitan and even Monash have been applying for PTPTN although they are taking the Australian Degree.

You mean PTPTN disbursed 1/3 of the total amount 3 times during the year? Or 50% every 3 months, meaning within the duration of 6 months they'll disburse the full amount?

I think there is a maximum amount PTPTN can loan. IINM it's RM16k per annum.

Everyone applied through online, however the system had some problem and they had closed it. Now we are going back to the old method, OMR form. smile.gif Not sure about this new batch of students yet. smile.gif

~Curious~ :- Try to appeal if your loan is below 16k, 19k/13k with strong reason

As for online application, they will update it on their site. So far, only TARC using it with the rest using back manual form, but saw in another thread that they are calling student to use OMR form.

Also clearance on the PTPTN SSPN account:-

Higher education loan no longer tied to savings account

PETALING JAYA: The Government will not enforce the minimum savings requirement that was previously compulsory for anyone wanting to obtain a loan from the National Higher Education Fund Corporation.

Previously, parents needed to open a National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) account in order to qualify for the loan.

“To ease the burden on students wanting to obtain a study loan, the Government has decided that the ruling on compulsory savings would not be enforced this year.

“Those wanting to take a loan need only have a minimum of RM20 in their SSPN account to apply for the loan,” Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said in a statement Tuesday.

Under the minimum savings ruling enforced on Jan 1 this year, parents with a monthly household income of less than RM2,000 must have deposited at least RM500 in their SSPN account to qualify for a loan.

Parents who earn more than RM2,000 monthly must have saved up at least RM3,000.

The SSPN was established in 2004 and was aimed at encouraging parents to save for their children’s education.

The main advantage of the SSPN was that the Government provided a matching grant of up to RM10,000 for parents who earned less than RM2,000 monthly.

Other benefits of the SSPN, which is administered by the corporation, included yearly dividends that were tax-exempt.
