Ok, just some quick questions and I hope you guys can help out here. smile.gif

1. The PELAJAR will have to sign the PERJANJIAN PINJAMAN PENDIDIKAN and his signature must be witnessed by a SAKSI PELAJAR. Now, who can be the saksi? Must the saksi be any one of the people listed by PTPTN as "layak untuk mengesahkan dokumen-dokumen"?

2. Both the PENJAMIN PERTAMA and the PENJAMIN KEDUA must sign the JAMINAN and their signatures must be witnessed by a SAKSI PENJAMIN. Same question as (1), must the saksi be any one of the people listed by PTPTN as "layak untuk mengesahkan dokumen-dokumen"?

3. The rest of the documents that are required to be submitted, as listed in the SENARAI SEMAKAN DOKUMEN YANG PERLU DISERAHKAN OLEH PELAJAR, will have to be certified true copy by any one of the people listed by PTPTN as "layak untuk mengesahkan dokumen-dokumen". That's quite straightforward.

I hope someone can clear my doubts on items 1 and 2. Many thanks.

er dude im not sure about that myself.....can you tell me if there is a time frame for us to accept the offer?
*
Well, if you want the loan, you have to accept the offer before the PTPTN officers come to your Uni or College because that is when they will collect back the duly signed documents which you have to print out from your computer. And you can only access them for printing if you accept the offer. Naturally, if you decide you do not want the loan, you have to reject the offer.

On when these PTPTN officers will visit your Uni/College for this purpose, you have to check with your Uni/College admin or maybe you can call PTPTN to enquire.

i'm a bit confused about the SSPN account. let's say my family's income is less than Rm2000, so according to the rules my account has to have at least Rm500. wanna ask is it a must to have the RM500 in my account first before i apply for PTPTN? do i have to put in RM500 when i register for SSPN?
*
Yes, you must have at least RM500 in the SSPN account before you can apply for PTPTN. And when you open the SSPN account, you have to show proof that your household income is <RM2,000 per month, i.e. your parents' payslip, EA Form, Form J, etc.

QUOTE(venicelim @ May 3 2008, 03:01 PM)
i m now havin scholarships tat waive my tuition fees ..(college)
but now i wanna apply ptptn..(so tat can cover up my other expenses)
since i dun wan to spend my parents $..
is it possible? o do u guyz have any recemendation on other loan?
help..!! SOS !!

btw, is ptptn terus debit the $ into our account or they'll credit the $ to the college & the rest baru gv us?

Added on May 3, 2008, 3:02 pmbtw, i ard open a CIMB account..
how bout the SSPN?
should i open an SSPN account first, i mean before i apply for ptptn or afta i succeed to get ptptn loan?
*
The PTPTN loan will be credited to your account and not directly to the College.

Your should open the SSPN Account first before applying for PTPTN.

From the PTPTN Website
QUOTE
Loan application form MUST be enclosed with either one of SSPN account opening proof (SSPN’s membership card copy / SSPN's account statement / SSPN’s deposit slip / printed SSPN account statement from PTPTN website)

QUOTE(brian12988 @ May 8 2008, 09:31 PM)
since u alredi have scholarships...then i dun think u can apply for ptptn...and the SSPN acc have to be opened first before u apply....

I need to ask a few questions so pls help in answering them.....
1)Since my parents is the "Pendeposit" in the SSPN form, who must the "Pemanfaat" be??The applicant or any1 else??
2)Can my sister use the SSPN account aso?
3)Does any1 knw how to contact a PTPTN officer other than the hotline...
4)Can any1 clarify the requirements for applicants taking DEGREE programmes??Coz the PTPTN say only SPM while in this thread furtherback some1 said only SPM+STPM/A-Levels/and one more...can apply..
*
1. If your parent is the "pendeposit", then the "pemanfaat" (beneficiary) will be one of your parents' children, being a student who is applying for the loan (being you in this instant).
2. Your parents will have to open another SSPN Account with your sister as the "pemanfaat". However, the TOTAL amount in BOTH accounts (yours and your sister's) must be RM500 (if your household income is <RM2,000 per month) or RM3,000 (if your household income is >RM2,000 per month).
3. I called the Hotline the other day and got through on first try.
4. Not sure about this.

As long as the penerima of PTPTN (of which your mom is the guarantor) has not defaulted in payment etc, then it should be ok.

IINM, it's about 2 months after submitting your application with the PTPTN officer in your College/Uni. You can check regularly at the PTPTN website.

Im afraid the deadline of the ptptn application will be very very very soon,is it that soon? Or i still have time to courier it back to my parents and ask them to setttle it for me ? Can anyone give me example of how soon is the ptptn deadline ? Im entering May 2008 intake at TARC ,new student KL setapak main campuse.
Thanks for advising.
*
The best thing you can do now is to check with TARC when the PTPTN officers will be going to your College to certify documents and collect all the applications from the students. Like some of the forumers have already said, PTPTN has different schedules for each College. Don't worry, it won't as soon as you enter College. It would be at least after 2 or 3 months. Just check the schedule with your College.

anyways , buying the pin is easy , just get a number , go to counter , fill up name and IC , pay rm5 . fin smile.gif

Are you sure the online application is only for TARC students? I thought MMU students are also applying online? Well, at least they did for 2007. Don't about this year. Anyone from MMU here can clarify this?

Yes, you can still apply for PTPTN for twinning programme as long as you are studying locally. Students from Taylors, Metropolitan and even Monash have been applying for PTPTN although they are taking the Australian Degree.

*
You mean PTPTN disbursed 1/3 of the total amount 3 times during the year? Or 50% every 3 months, meaning within the duration of 6 months they'll disburse the full amount?

QUOTE(~Curious~ @ Jun 9 2008, 11:35 PM)
BTW,is there anyway that i can apply to borrow more money from PTPTN?My current loan amount barely covers my tuition fees from each sem.

I think there is a maximum amount PTPTN can loan. IINM it's RM16k per annum.

eh how come when i was in the briefing they say sspn is not needed... doh.gif

Well, I hope someone can clarify this.

AFAIK, the latest is that you don't have to deposit the RM500 or RM3,000 into the acoount, Just open with RM20 will do.

QUOTE(WinnieH @ Jun 16 2008, 12:37 AM)
excuse me... i have one question... i went to cimb bank the other day and told them i wanna open a bank account for ptptn... after the procedures, the man gave me a slip showing my short name and account number n told me to give to the institution i will enter. and i receive an atm card...  and i paid rm 20. is this the right procedure? i didn't get any bank book...

so after this, when i go uni... i apply ptptn thru the uni and i do not need to open any new account anymore...right?
*
Did you tell them that you want to open a "SSPN Account" or a "bank account for PTPTN"? Both can be quite different. If what akira de aimbuster said above is true, then maybe you had just opened an account for PTPTN to deposit the loan money, because PTPTN do specify which Bank they will deposit the money into and when you apply for the loan you'll have to state the bank account number.

Geez, I hope someone can clarify whether we do need the SSPN account or not.

Guys, is SSPN slip important to apply PTPTN loan?
I lost it sad.gif
*
By SSPN slip I presumed you meant the Application Form for opening the SSPN account? The Bank will keep the original and will give you the pink copy. Yes, that slip is important and a copy should be attached together with your application form as proof of having opened the SSPN account.

But no worries, if you lost it you can always go to the Bank where you opened the account and politely request for a copy.

QUOTE(Lacus @ Jul 18 2008, 05:00 PM)
hmm, i wonder did i open the account correctly =.=...First i open a SSPN account and deposit Rm20 then open another normal bank account at CIMB (thats according to wat my sister did...) so..is the procedure correct or wat :s..
*
QUOTE(colinwong89 @ Jul 30 2008, 11:21 PM)
Is a CIMB account and an SSPN account the same thing?
*
Yes, you need 2 accounts to apply for PTPTN. The SSPN account is for you and/or your parents to save up for your education and the other normal saving account is for PTPTN to dispense the loan to you.

QUOTE(Channel84 @ Jul 27 2008, 07:21 PM)
can i apply for ptptn without going thru my university (mmu) cos i kinda miss the hari ptptn and it would be too bad to miss this sem's payment sad.gif

I thought PTPTN went to MMU on 29 July 2008? If you missed that too, I think they will be there again on 31 July 2008 and that's today.

All agreements with PTPTN presently will still state 3% as administrative cost (in other words, interests), but would be adjusted once the new system is implemented in December 2008.

This is taken from the PTPTN website…

QUOTE
1% administrative cost charge will be implemented as informed by the Minister of Higher Education in prime newspapers on the 14th of August 2008. PTPTN management is in the process of preparing rules and regulations that will be revealed to the public in the shortest period of time. Further info regarding the implementation of the 1% administrative cost can be obtained here - Article..

I got questions, sorry if it's a repeat but I'm very blur with what i'm asking unless i see the exact question =.=

im going to study in nottingham msia, so i have already open a banki islam account and a sspn account.

may i know the loan will be deposited into which account? whats the point of opening both accounts? im very confused. between both got anything like which one higher interest or something?

sorry if this is a repeat but i'm in a blur right now and hoping someone can show me the right direction.

regards
*
You need to open 2 accounts because one is for PTPTN to deposit your loan (in your case it's the Bank Islam account) and the other one is an account you have to open when you sign up for the Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional (National Higher Education Fund Corporation). As it is, beginning from 2008, anyone who wish to apply for PTPTN loan have to sign up for the scheme. It is basically a savings scheme which puts emphasis on "Savings Towards Higher Education".

Read about here at the PTPTN Website ---> http://www.ptptn.gov.my/web/english/savings

Frankly, the PTPTN Website is quite comprehensive and you can find almost everything you need to know there. smile.gif

Loan = deposit into Bank islam in ur case
SSPN account = red tape account, just put rm20 into it and let it be there for 2 weeks before applying
*
Well, although what you said there may be true to a certain extend but that is not the actual purpose of the SSPN account. It is actually there to encourage you to save a little every month during your college/uni days so that when it comes to repayment when you start working, the amount in your SSPN account will help to pay off the loan.

You guys really need to be spoon-fed is it? laugh.gif

Like I have mentioned so so many times, the PTPTN website is actually quite comprehensive and you can easily find the answers to all your queries there.

QUOTE
Starting Jun 2008, PTPTN has recalculated the insurance deduction on a new premium rate. All current PTPTN loan borrowers will undergo an insurance deduction for the purpose of protecting their loan based on their study period and loan repayment period.  Insurance deduction will be done every semester when the loans are disburse. The insurance deduction amount is RM0.96 for every RM1,000 of loan amount. For current loan borrowers whose insurance deduction before this is less than the amount stated, the amount will be recalculated and extra deduction will be made.

Chill lah, the ptptn website although it is comprehensive it is a mess with some sections in english and some in bm.

What it lacks is a proper quick FAQ on the loan application process though.
*
Don't worry, no prob. But frankly, I managed to have most of my queries answered when I browsed that website and I called them once to clarify something about the SSPN. Now they have dedicated a whole section under "Savings" for SSPN and the answers to some of the questions asked here about the 1% administrative charges and the calculation of insurance are all glaring on the main page of the website.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I'm glad to be of help but what I'm trying to instill is that for those who are applying for PTPTN must be college/uni students meaning 18 and above and it's about time we learn to stand on our own two feet and be more independent. It's all part of growing up ya. smile.gif
