ADVS Desert Chameleon
![]() ![]() Advanced Defense Vehicle Systems Delivers Armored Personnel Carriers to Kuwait Ministry of Interiors LAKE ORION, Mich. --- Advanced Defense Vehicle Systems (ADVS) announces today the first production delivery of the ADVS 6X6X6 Desert Chameleon armored personnel carriers to the Kuwait Ministry of Interior (KMOI). ADVS began discussion with the KMOI in 2007 to design a security vehicle able to meet their specific mobility, survivability, and performance requirements. ADVS designed, manufactured, tested, and completed the vehicles for delivery by fall 2010, a less-than three year full development to production timeline duration. The ADVS 6x6x6 Desert Chameleon vehicle specs include a removable " V " hull design with adaptable armor modules to increase blast dispersion and survivability, a 600-horsepower Caterpillar engine power-pack, a fully independent active suspension system and a speed sensitive all-wheel steering system. These advanced wheeled vehicles offer the most innovative design and safety features, surpassing current U.S. Army military vehicles in terms of maneuverability, capability, performance, comfort and survivability. James LeBlanc Sr., founder and CEO of ADVS, stated " the engineering, design and workmanship of these ten-person vehicles will provide the capability desired by the Kuwaiti government to effectively complete missions in challenging environments on desert sand and extreme temperature conditions and to safely maneuver in heavily populated areas. " Under this program, SupplyCore, a leader in supply chain management and distribution of tactical vehicle spare parts, assisted in the procurement and supply chain management of production and aftermarket parts for the ADVS 6X6X6 Desert Chameleon. In addition, True North Logistics, a Michigan based logistics firm, assisted with the distribution and management of vehicle parts during vehicle production. ADVS specializes in designing, engineering and manufacturing defense vehicles for current and future requirements of the military, homeland defense, and national security markets. ADVS and their principles have been working with the U.S. and international governments for over 40 years in the development of security and tactical vehicles. ADVS also provides program management, field service, logistics, training, manual support, and spare parts for tactical vehicles. ADVS' innovative vehicle product features plus extensive experience contributes highly to mission efficiency and increased survivability. SupplyCore helps the armed services and the DLA improve their supply chain performance and eliminate waste while providing superior service to the warfighter. SupplyCore has spent over twenty years streamlining and improving its technological processes and its supply chain, which translates into more efficient purchasing for the federal government. Turks Order Turkish Made UAVs
March 26, 2013 : Turkey recently completed acceptance tests (130 sorties) for its new Anka UAV, and production is to begin on the first order of 30 aircraft (ten systems) for the Turkish Air Force. Each Anka system consists of three UAVs plus ground control equipment and all necessary maintenance and ground operations gear. Looking very similar to the American Predator, the Anka is a 1.6 ton aircraft propelled by a rear facing propeller. Payload is 200 kg (440 pounds) and endurance is 24 hours, and Anka can operate up to 200 kilometers from its controller. Max altitude is 7,900 meters (26,000 feet). A UAV like this would sell for over $2 million each. The Turkish military is to receive its first Anka by the end of the year. Four months ago Turkey found its first export customer for Anka, with Egypt ordering ten. First deliveries will be in two years. Turkey is already working on a larger (four ton) Anka that can carry missiles or a lot more reconnaissance equipment. Another Turkish firm made its first export sale (to Qatar) of its Bayraktar Tactical UAV a year ago. This is a 500 kg (1,100 pound) aircraft with a 40 kg (88 pound) payload and an endurance of 14 hours. It enters service in Turkey this year. The price for ten Bayraktars Tactical UAVs sold to Qatar was reported to be $25 million. There is also a Bayraktar Mini UAV which is a 4.6 kg (9.9 pound) aircraft that is battery powered and hand launched. Endurance is 60 minutes and the Bayraktar can operate up to 15 kilometers from the operator. The Turkish Army has been using the Bayraktar Mini for the last six years. Turkey's economy has been booming during the last decade, as a new government made good on its pledge to crack down on the corruption that had long crippled the economy. As the economy grew the government sought to make Turkey more self-sufficient in military equipment, and UAVs are considered part of this program. Sources : http://strategypage.com |

Turkey to replace F-16s with local jets
![]() Turkey eyes replacing F-16s with locally produced fighter jets by 2023, Turkey’s defense undersecretary said yesterday. “ We’re working on the conceptual design of a new fighter jet that will replace our F-16 fighters, ” Defense Industry Undersecretary Murad Bayar said yesterday on the sidelines of the two-day International Air&Space Power (ICAP) Conference being held in Istanbul. Recently, Turkish arms manufacturer TAI has signed a technical assistance deal with Swedish Saab on technical assistance to build a fighter jet, as Daily News reported. Turkish officials have been in talks with Saab (and with Korean Aerospace Industries) to find the best modality for the ambitious project of building its own fighter since 2010 and 2011. In August 2011, the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries, signed a deal with TAI to carry out the conceptual design work for fighter and jet trainer aircraft Turkey hopes to build. In recent months a Turkish delegation, including SSM officials, visited Saab headquarters and production facilities in Sweden. And more recently, TAI and Saab penned a preliminary agreement for technical assistance which will pave the way for a subsequent support deal. In yesterday’s statements, Bayar said the project of designing a local fighter began last year and after some trials one of the designs has matured. After completing the design phase, the undersecretary will make an offer on developing a fighter to the Defense Industry Executive Committee, the highest defense procurement body of Turkey, which includes Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Defense Minister İsmet Yılmaz, Chief of the Turkish General Staff Gen. Necdet Özel, as well as Bayar himself. Recalling that Turkey had been one of the partners in the multinational Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) consortium that builds F-35 fighters, Bayar said the roles of the new model to be developed and the F-35 would be different. Therefore, new fighters will be configured as air-to-air planes and they will complement each other with F-35s. Defense sources had told to Daily News that the program was exposed to the risk of a prolonged conceptual design and this would make the whole project “ not very meaningful. ” Sources : http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com |

DASA Lampyridae (Firefly)
Medium Range Missile Fighter (MRMF) Daimler-Benz Aerospace (DASA) has revealed details of a previously top-secret Stealth aircraft research programme conducted in Germany during the 1980s. The programme, known as Lampyridae (Firefly), or Medium Range Missile Fighter (MRMF), was run from 1981 to 1987 by what was then Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB), under a contract from the German air force. The work led to the eventual development of a three-quarter scale piloted windtunnel model of a multi-faceted Stealth fighter. Former project leader Dr Gerhard Löbert claims that the design “ very probably ” had better radar characteristics than the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk, despite the F-117 having more than twice the number of radar-scattering facets.Windtunnel testing began on a 1:3.5-scale low-speed model and a 1:20-scale transonic model in 1985. According to Löbert, these tests demonstrated high-quality aerodynamic properties, despite the disadvantages of the polyhedral airframe design. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by HangPC2: Apr 2 2013, 03:23 PM |
