I will top up my portfolio as a whole, which currently is

2/3 in Asia Pacific + GEM equity
1/3 in global equity

In the 2/3, 43% is EI GEM, 21% in AmAsia Pac REITs, 21% in Hwang AQ and 14% in EI Equity Income (MYR equity fund)

In the 1/3 I have OSK-UOB Global Equity Yield, plan to add on Pacific Global Stars.

E.g. when I top up RM100 in AmAPAC REITs, I will make sure to top up RM100 to Hwang AQ and RM200 to EI GEM. wink.gif

Nice smile.gif

I'll top up AQ when the NAV price drops. Most probably buying in a new GEM equity fund soon. Need to have more risk exposure in equity.

HK and Singapore keep on climbing and climbing, I won't top up AQ until I see them taking a breather. The market really needs some troubling news from The US of A. tongue.gif

But the recent climb only returned Hang Seng and STI to the level last seen 2 years ago. As some sifu said, don't time the market. The market can beat u in ways u could never imagine, just stay invested so long as valuations are still reasonable and hope for the best. tongue.gif

Hi all,

Just wondering for those who invested for more than 4 years, which managed to experience the 2008 downturn. Did you guys managed to minimized the effect on your portfolio by selling or switching to safer assets class?

In a hindsight, I'd be just slightly better off had I remain invested and keep DCA in.

Hi, newbie here. Just want to ask about what are the things I need to be looking at given my scenario:

1. mid 20s
2. just bought Public's Regular Savings Fund
3. looking to add on to the portfolio
4. goal of earning extra income

I know these questions of 'what-to-do' get asked around a lot, but I'm more interested in learning how to be self-reliant and have good knowledge to make own decisions. Thanks all!

1. for Mutual Funds on programmatic DCA+VCA plan? nope didn't sell/switch
2. for Mutual Funds on trend + individual stocks - yup, sold off once trailing stop loss / trend / trigger hit.
3. Thus, due to (2.), yeah - my losses could have been worst BUT seeing (hindsight always 20/20) as it rebounded within 2-3 years doh.gif

Again, hindsight yar - BUT if markets didnt rebound as it did
+ did a KLCI 1997/1998 double-dip
+ slowly chugged up for 3 to 9 years, only reaching par after 6 years+/-...
cry.gif if i didn't cut loss

Which part of northern region? I got some legacy investment with CWA (since Ban Hin Lee time) but I'm going to move it under FSM. Is CWA only deal with CIMB unit trusts?
