QUOTE(WCH69 @ Nov 5 2013, 07:01 PM) Bro, if you do not use YouTube and already bored with the UI, maybe can try. The firmware mainly UI upgrade and minor bug fixes. The key highlight I would like to emphasis again is both OG YouTube and Google YouTube not working after upgraded. |

Hey, there's so many things to read through. I just want to ask, is it necessary to use an app to stream movies/shows? Can I just use a browser (hopefully Firefox or Chrome) to stream from my favorite websites?

Can I just use a browser (hopefully Firefox or Chrome) to stream from my favorite websites? Using browser will be very much depend on the web site providers. If the web site using Windows Active-X plug-in then you could not watch from Android. Additionally if the web site is using flash then you need flash enable browser such as Dolphin browser or Boat Browser. Actually you can verify this by using your Android phone.Maybe you can share with me you favorite web site, I could help you to verify. Just pm me your favorite web site. Sorry if my questions seem rudimentary, I don't have an Android phone, my sister does. Thanks. This post has been edited by JohnL77: Nov 6 2013, 03:24 PM |

Basically, the complication is the web site are not truly standardized, therefore I could no promised you that all web site could run on Android browser. But what you are saying is, if I use Dolphin browser or Boat browser, I can verify these websites myself using an Android phone? Sorry if my questions seem rudimentary, I don't have an Android phone, my sister does. Thanks. Firefox, chrome, native Android browser are not flash enable. There is reason major browser stop support flash player. If you goto Adobe web site, Adobe has stopped delivering flash for Android platform since version 11. This is because HTML 5 video streaming or app embedded flash will be the future. http://m.androidcentral.com/adobe-stop-new...le-flash-player However, you still can use flash in Q5II via dolphin or boat browser. The simple rules is to stream video in Android box, just use the Android App. Similarly to stream video in Apple device then use the Apple Apps Store App.So basically, not all websites can be streamed using your device? What content is available? Please PM me your best price. What model do you recommend? Just want to stream HD TV/movies and play files from my HDD/flash drive. Thanks. |

Honestly speaking, how does your product compare to others in the market? Just noticed it is in the same price range as Apple TV.

Bro, I will not compare Himedia with other here because as Himedia seller my comment might not be neutral. However, I would like to share the selection criteria for anyone interested to survey about android TV box in the market :1). Selection criteria of Android TV box is not the CPU speed or number of cores, very important is the audio/video decoding capability and the reliability of the hardware. 2). Due to the variety of Android apps available in Google Play Store, the Android TV box is beyond the limit of the traditional media player. Post sales support and sharing of experiences is very important to fully utilize your Android TV box. 3). Renown hardware principle with in-house Android engineer to continuously develop the firmware to fix software bugs and capable to develop Android Apps for valued added functionality. 4). The input and output capability to fulfill different needs such as AV Receiver home theater, Amplifier and etc. 5). Please avoid Stick base Android TV due to the heat and wifi signal issues. I hv more than 3 IOS devices at home, but I will not choose Apple as my home media center because I need the flexibility to download movies and variety of streaming apps. |
