Yes, the box is designed to output to FHDTV, UHD 4K 30 and 60fps from USB HDD/Pendrive or NAS.

Both Q5 Pro and Q10 Pro are the same chipset except Q10 Pro has HDD enclosure to plug direct SATA disk. Q5 Pro could support USB HDD and Pendrive but not SATA HDD direct.

All my 4K video only stored in external USB 3 HDD and thumb drive. I assumed this playable unless you've more information.

Thanks

I bought a Himedia Q5 Pro from Nicety about 2 weeks ago. I find Nicety has good understanding of the product and is able to provide help very well. Throughout the deal, he has shown good commitment and follow-up. A good seller indeed.

So far Q5 Pro has delivered what it is supposed to. However as I was installing more and more apps, the 8G storage gets filled up very quickly. I have a 8G micro SD card installed on the box but I was unable to move the installed apps to the SD card. Every time after I clicked the move to SD card button, everything looks alright. But on restart the app is not moved at all. Would appreciate if someone can throw some light on these questions:

1. Can apps be moved to the SD Card (jist like in mobile phone)?
2. If apps cannot be moved, how can I remove some of the big apps such as Facebook, Chrome, Skype and Youtube? (I tried uninstalling them but somehow they always get re-installed after restart).

I should clarify my earlier message. Maybe the way it was written did not do justice to the box. Q5 Pro is actually a very good piece of equipment. You can read the good reviews and benchmarking scores from other blogs and forums. But from a user point of view, my experience with it is an excellent one. It runs the movies very well, the interfaces are smooth and my family totally enjoys it.

The reason why I asked about the storage and SD card is not because there is a flaw in the box. It is more because I am curious and want to learn more about this new equipment. I am not facing any problem with the box.

From my experience so far ...

1.
Yes and no. For some apps yes and for some apps no. You can tell whether you can move it or not by looking at the "move to SD" option in the middle of the screen. For the ones you cannot move, it will be grey out, ie, inactive.

When you move to SD, must give it time to complete the task. Don't just click on the move button and do something else.

2.
I have not encountered this. Maybe need to do this at a higher system level. Check the web on how to remove Facebook from android TV box.

Initially I thought I would be facing problems with smaller GB in Q5 as I was using H8 with twice the GB. But so far OK.

Suggest setting up in Kodi first and use apps outside Kodi if you cannot get them in Kodi. Why? Find that external apps are generally big and thus eat up your GB. Apps inside Kodi are generally smaller as Kodi already has the basic functions in there and Kodi apps do not have to include these in their programs.

Need to do some GB cleaning now and then. Just click on the 1st button at the bottom row when you start Q5 (the one with the broom picture).

Good luck!

Q5 pro has 4GB of apps partition which you can install up to 80++ Android which is more than sufficient compare to Q5II and H8 OCTA core which is 2GB only. No worry about the space in Q5 Pro, the internal memory is sufficient.

I do not recommend to move apps to external SD card due to stability and performance. However, technically you can move apps to SD card except firmware installed apps such as Facebook, Skype and etc which the apps already locked by factory and cannot move to SD card and also cannot uninstall. I will check with Himedia if they could unlock the apps in the next firmware upgrade.

Get a sub woofer if you don't have one yet. It will give your movie watching and concert enjoyment to another level. Really.

BB
Try 9GAG in Kodi. Forgot where I got that now. Excellent, updated daily showing the latest funny, sad, exciting, sexy etc video clips.

Thank you for your inputs.

Yes, getting a sub woofer would definitely elevate the viewing pleasure. I have an el cheapo one right now. Better than nothing. Will look into better ones later on.

I think I saw 9GAG somewhere in Kodi but did not go into it yet.

Dear Customers,
If you use Showbox, please take note that the default server is TORRENTS which is slow because of throttling. Please switch to other server for better streaming as per below screen shot :

Yes, passthru Dolby Atmos already possible since last generations of Q5. Q5 Pro could do more than that included DTS:X, Dolby Vision, 10bits colour and 4KHDR.

I just wanna leave a feedback for Nicety. I recently bought a Q5 Pro from him and to say that he has been a great help is an understatement. He has been very patient with me from the start - answering my petty questions since I'm new to Android and to a TV Box, and to the extent of searching a Chinese drama for me (since I'm a banana). Very professionally handled and definitely highly recommended.

Cheers.
