Never too late bro, if you introduce friends to buy from us, we could extend the service to you.

Android player is different from traditional consumer electronic device where the functionality is static. It is software driven, the functionality is dynamic and upgradable. By upgrading the apps or firmware, you enhance the functionality of the player. Therefore post sales support from the seller is very important to optimize your player functionality from time to time.

Bro, we do not sell IPTV subscription, you may subscribe from the direct provider as mentioned in Buyer Guide below.

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3201002/+1

Android Operating system is multi lingual, the OS language could be select in the setting.

If you install English app the menu and interface is English, if you install German app the menu and interface is German, if you install Chinese app the menu and interface will be Chinese.

I'm interested but so far I checked a few units and even though is it ANDROID, it does have crappy chinese bloatware hence my question albeit a little wrongly put.
Btw, how often is the firmware/software update for these boxes?

Bro, we are selling Himedia in Lowyat since 2011.

As mentioned in our buyer guide, many buyer select the model base on Hardware spec and over look the audio video codec. Depend on your requirement, if you do not need license DTS or TrueHD pass thru then Q3 could be sufficient.

Thank you for inquiry. Since your requirement are browse webpage, youtube, access google playstore/apps, then Q5III is a bit over design. The entry level H8 could be sufficient for browsing, YuoTube and Google Play Store.

Please find below my answer :
- Android is open Operating System Support different CPU architectures such as for ARM, x86, MIPS and etc. It depend on the skill of the app developer. A good developer will design the apps to support multiple architectures with multiple SOC. A bad developer design an app supported limited hardware. For example, the first version of AstroOTG support only Samsung Pad, Samsung Note only. Therefore I could not guaranteed you Himedia box could support 100% apps in the Google Play Store. Further detail, pls refer to the link http://developer.android.com/google/play/p...tiple-apks.html

- Web browsing response time is depend on your internet speed. YouTube app is download from original Google Play store.

Yes, the box preinstalled with the Chinese apps which confused you.

Q16 Quad Core firmware is version 1.0.7 since released last year September. So far Himedia the only brand that fix the bugs rapidly once the bugs found and fixable.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to nicety here for provided me with a great advise. Initially I was looking to purchase a new android box to play my 1080p movies from my PC through my home LAN.
I have an existing android box from a few years back and I used to stream SD movie from my PC without issue. Now that I wanted to stream 1080p movies, it keeps lagging. I thought that my android box is old and cannot support 1080p streaming. After consulting with nicety with my requirement, he advise me to check back on my network connection.
And true enough, the problem was with my powerline adapter. I tested it by directly connect the android box to the router using a LAN cable vs connecting it through the powerline adapter. Direct LAN cable = smooth, Powerline adapter = lag. It must the electrical noise interfering with the signal. My powerline adapter was initially connected to a 4 gang extension cord. I change the location to directly connected to the wall socket and woila, smooth movie, rclxms.gif .
With this I did not purchase any item from nicety, but with his superb support, I will definitely look him up for future purchase icon_rolleyes.gif

First, isolate the problem come from the box, HDMI cable or other. Try to use different HDMI cable, preferable if you can test with another different. TV.

If you install hocontrol in your phone, just remote to the box via hocontrol and set the resolution to 720p or lower.

Please pm me your test result.

bro, it's good to start with a lower model. if u like it, u will upgrade to higher models that can take more apps, larger apps.

i started 1.5 yrs ago with a q5ii non-emmc, then q5ii emmc, then q16. all 3 in good use.

i find himedia hardware very good, better than i expected.

i hv to say it does take a bit of work to get it running well, which makes seller support very critical, esp in the early stage.

n if u hv a need with chinese, nicety will pre-install all that for u! biggrin.gif

Nicety,

I am looking for a smart TV box, not much time to spare on researching, but reading through the forum, looks like Q16 is suitable for my needs for streaming movies and watching movies through file sharing of downloaded movies either via PC or NAS (can Himedia Q16 do this ?). Was thinking of using an old desktop as NAS instead of buying one but need some help in setting up the as this is the first time I am doing this.

If above is possible, please let me know and PM me the best price and "how to". I am going to use it on a new 4K 3D smart TV in one room and another normal full HD smart tv in another, possible to use the same Q16 for both or need 2 Q16s ?

TQ
