What I meant is open any bank account and then use gxbank as primary account to get the high interest rate.

IMO can go for large banks like Maybank or CIMB for the very first bank account
then open another digital bank account such as GX or Rize for high interest rate

I use Maybank because branch banyak and probably best online service and app among other banks. Bank account is just for you to masuk salary or use as spending / transaction account. If you wanna save or invest suggest look else where like digital bank / Versa / KDI or even TnG+ or ETFs / unit trust / stocks.

Ask specifically for Basic Saving Account...

Then you open digital bank GX for high interest $$$

I use Maybank because, I guess, I'm a creature of habit... probably not the best option

I would just hv them open bank account with any bank with Internet banking function and with lots of atm machines around the residence my non working children.
Saving account interest rate is least of my concern as I would place min amount inside .

When they starts to work, I believes his/her employers will open a new bank account for them, that are preferred by their employers accounting system/practices

Thanks for all the feedback. Good idea to open basic account and then transfer most of the amount to digital bank account/digital deposit accounts like KDI/Versa etc.

The purpose of current account is the ability to issue cheque. Nowadays, hardly anyone issues cheque. Try HLBB or PBB, i find they are easier to open.

I think rule of thumb for all Malaysians is to open a free Maybank BSA account first. Make this your "forever" bank account, but not necessarily "primary" bank account, which may change depending on various factors.

Heck those small kedai runcit in our neighborhood also still uses cheque for payment
