I received the applied stand chart card and was using it for the first transaction at Shell petrol station.
i pumped rm70 bucks worth of petrol. 2 hours later, i received a sms notification on my phone telling me that a rm200 transaction has been charged to my card. the petrol kiosk was the only place i have used the card today, this month, ever since i've gotten my card.

i call the bank's call center, the call center staff told me the system is down, he is not from the call center department hence he cant advise much.
but according to his personal experience, this is perfectly normal and attempted to get my details (including name, phone number, ic, AND credit card number), which i refrain from giving the later. he also told me that there is nothing the bank can do about the charges and i should contact the merchant ( the petrol station or the petrol company) instead!

i called the bank 7 hours later and confirm that the system is up. the second call center told me the same,
(1) she cant do anything about the charges
(2) this is taken as rm200 deposit and the balance would be credited back to the card in 3-5 days time
(3) i shouldnt and i cant lodge a complaint because it is not the bank's fault.
(4) this is the normal/standard operating procedure and i SHOULDNT lodge a complaint.
(5) EVERYTIME i go to petrol kiosk and use my credit card to pump petrol, rm200 would be charge to my card first and balance to be credited back later.

do all standard charted credit card user / bankers out there, is this really the normal procedure?
i cant believe how 'freely' a petrol kiosk can charge to my card. what if they someday happily slap me a 10,000 bill? should i just cut the card?
i dont have the same problem with other credit cards of mine. help!

yea, is same among all bank. I used pbe, ocbc, maybank, citi all is same...

the 15% cashback petrol is stated as 6 months. 6 months from the date of approval?..

Can't manage to find info on 0% BT for SCB? Is it subject to Bank offer? All I mange to find is the 1.99% for new card holder who submit for BT within 30 Days from approval.

Only for "selected" customers only... I did receive the same 0% BT offer from 2 different Price Solution agents.

Petrol CashBack Rewards are capped at RM48 per month per customer. In addition, the Bank will pay out only up to a maximum total Petrol CashBack of RM640,000 from 1 April to 31 October 2013, across all Successful Eligible Customers that applied via the Bank’s branches or direct sales agencies (“Campaign Cap”).

After the smart tag and the petrol cash back and cancel the card d as SCM card really sux. the reward point to redeem is way higher than other bank.
