Tried the i5-3317u (3g) variant already in Singapore.. The device is pretty awesome! The palm rest is made of plastic but the whole thing is pretty sturdy... The keyboard buttons were not as good as Samsung's standard ones... But are still okay. Would be good if they have much better travelling depth and pressure points.. But I guess its too much to ask for lol XD
The stylus pen is really impressive as well~ works splendidly just like the one I have on my note and note 2 Definitely the hybrid ultrabook to buy! If only I have the money |

All this while I thought its one package. First of all, from my supplier it's also mentioned that the keyboard is included in the package.Secondly, the keyboard is just that.. a keyboard, no extra battery or anything like that so you could just use any other BT keyboard with it, it's just more convenient if you use theirs I supposed. Although given that it's too light weight, I'd think that you can't properly use the Ativ with it's keyboard on your lap cause it'd be too easy to tip over. QUOTE(upmost systems @ Nov 12 2012, 06:20 PM) I think just just the same old song for Malaysian market.. Samsung website kind of misleading, probably I was too excited that I didnt complete my full spec search.asus padfone suppose to comes with bt stylus...but no for Malaysian market my acer w7 suppose to come with bt keyboard..but no again I took matters in my own hand and directly call samsung call centre 1800-88-9999 . They confirm that keyboard is an OPTIONAL ITEM. So, those who are getting cheaper during promotion RM 3599.00 with keyboard, it's your lucky day. Why is there no review, or even a hands-on for the 700T version anywhere in the whole internet? (aside from demo units I mean)
The release date in US was supposed to be 26th of October, yet nothing on it, either the system has performed disappointingly in sales or the release date was incorrect or/and the system has been delayed... Now I am interested to know that whether this device comes with the keyboard dock or not for 3.6k here, if it does, well it means the price is on par with the US version, otherwise, it would feel like a rip-off. |

QUOTE(marauderz @ Nov 14 2012, 03:00 PM) It's just a guess but being top heavy *should* mean that you can't use the Ativ on your lap very well. It's just something you should be aware of if you plan to use it that way. My work is on the go between my companies, so Im willing to compromise. Plus the weight ratio of keyboard to screen is 1:1, so I believe it would still work on an angle. |

A point to ponder, observations made with the tablet and keyboard attached, with the connection between keyboard and tablet, and compounded by the top-heavyness of the tablet:
QUOTE I have one of these, and it's a great piece of kit, especially as a slate. However, I find that when I'm using it docked with the keyboard it's almost constantly connecting and reconnecting with the keyboard and USB devices on the keyboard. So when typing it'll often miss letters as it'll disconnect then reconnect the keyboard. The little melody it plays (disconnect/reconnect) got so annoying I turned the sound off! And another:-This happens more frequently if I have it on my lap, or I'm using the touchscreen at the same time as the keyboard; I almost never use the touchpad on the keyboard. I'm guessing the movement of the screen on the connector as I touch it or it moves around whilst on my knee is enough for the physical connector to momentarily lose connection? I've reported it to Samsung who suggested I take the unit back & swap for another one though I'd rather find out if my issue is unique before committing to losing the device for a while. Any comments? QUOTE I am also having the problem with the keyboard disconnecting and reconnecting. This is unfortunate because it makes the device pretty much useless to me. I planned to use it maybe 70% of the time in the dock, and this problem seems to occur constantly, especially with the computer in my lap. It has happened about 20 times since I started writing this paragraph. Firmly pushing the tablet into the dock does seem to resolve the problem temporarily, but I'm not sure how feasible that will be as a long term solution. Hopefully there will be a software fix (or more likely it needs to be a hardware fix). If there is no solution in the next few days, this is going back to Amazon as defective. Source: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?p=34229717 from the Anandtech forum. I reckon the Pro version uses the same connector as the normal Smart PC mode. Heads-up for potential buyers. My recently sold Asus Transformer Infinity is weight-ratio-ed 1:1 as well between the tablet and keyboard, and beyond 90 degrees, the laptop configuration (tablet+keyboard) will have the tendency to topple backwards. On the Android OS it's running on, you mostly tap instead os swipe gestures on Windows 8. I'd foresee the swipe-up/down gestures on an over-tilted Smart PC Pro having similar tendencies to topple backwards as well. I've tested the Pro model at LowYat Plaza's Windows 8 roadshow and it does show tendencies to topple backwards. Which is why at the roadshow, the unit was left on a slanted platform so as to NOT show this tendency much. I was as excited as the next person when they announced it, I stayed up and followed the event announcement live. My interest was deflated when I saw the plastic build quality(made more evident at the roadshow on the silver color model), and the thickness of the tablet part disproportionate compared to the keyboard. I'd be more forgiving if the keyboard part has batteries on it, that will help extend the battery life and keep the whole laptop config (tablet+keyboard) center-weighted to avoid the toppling back. The rest is history. If anyone follows the thread I made in this part of the forum, they'll know which hybrid I went for. This post has been edited by stringfellow: Nov 14 2012, 06:38 PM |

i am waiting for online review on the smart pro to go in further.... so far i was really impress by the sony duo 11..... it change my view on the tab though the weight is still a let down.
Maybe need to wait till Asus to come out with transformer to show the world how to make a tablet that can detach. |

The rest is history. If anyone follows the thread I made in this part of the forum, they'll know which hybrid I went for. to bad sony vaio a bit heavy .. |

QUOTE(rhoyo @ Nov 14 2012, 07:21 PM) I have a Transformer Infinity before. It's light at 580g on both ends but it still has tendencies to tilt back depending on how angled back the screen is. I have not had any problems with the 128GB SDXC slotted into the keyboard side of the Infinity separated away from the tablet side, but talking from past experience on Windows devices, pulling external storage device without safely removing it would sometimes result in corrupted data. If you're just using the keyboard part as a keyboard I don't see any issue. But from the previous post I quoted, it sounds like the connecting mechanism is loose. Making that constant connect-reconnecting wear a heavy toll on anything connecting via the keyboard side, or even the keyboard itself. I ended up not removing the Infinity from its keyboard dock, and the "detach keyboard to make lighter" advantage doesn't really become advantageous at all. I also have issues with the build quality, I have the SGS3 so I know how fond Samsung is with plastic. I don't mind much with plastic IF the processor running runs cool. SoCs running on SGS3 is low powered hence running cooler. Imagine your Intel Core i5 running in thin plastic enclosure. Recipe for disaster in the long run? There's a reason why most thin Ultrabooks uses aluminum/metal chassis. |

You try first. Have a hands-on and see if you like it. Especially the tilt/top-heavyness. As for me pushing my laptops, I'd like to see what it can do. If you're not using it to its potential, why bother getting the Core i models? Might as well get any Atom models and be done with. At the current state of Windows Store apps, I'd avoid Windows RT altogether. The next question would be balancing battery life to what you prefer. Want power? Battery life sacrificed. Want battery life? Less power. Depending on what you're using it as, that'll determine which device you'd go for. |

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Nov 14 2012, 06:37 PM) A point to ponder, observations made with the tablet and keyboard attached, with the connection between keyboard and tablet, and compounded by the top-heavyness of the tablet: Oh yes, saw your thread. You chosed sony right? I got the chance to view & play it. I only wish the keyboard was detachable. My only issue was it wasnt easy fr me to slide out the keyboard & i have to position the tablet couple of times to get the right view (eg. Lanscape to potrait & vice versa)And another:- Source: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?p=34229717 from the Anandtech forum. Of course after you mentioned it, the Sony also has a way to store th digitizer with the extended battery. But i prefer wacom to N-Trig whenever possible. -Same price as the Vaio Duo when add the price of the keyboard.
-Mini HDMI on ATIV versus full HDMI on Duo. -Single USB3.0 slot on ATIV versus 2 USB3.0 slot on Duo. -Micro SDXC(max out at 64GB) on ATIV versus Full SDXC on Duo(max out at 128GB) -Ethernet port on Duo versus none on the ATIV -No GPS on ATIV versus GPS on Duo. -Wacom stylus 1024 pressure levels on ATIV versus N-trig 256 pressure levels on Duo. -Windows 8 Pro on ATIV versus Windows 8 on Duo -Parity on screen resolution, storage capacity, processor performance, although graphics capability based on WEI, Duo has the upper hand. -Heavier on the Duo (1.3kg) coz cant separate the keyboard versus lighter on the ATIV(888gm) coz separatable keyboard. -2Mpx front and back on Duo versus 2Mpx front 5Mpx back on ATIV. I'm interested to hear about the supposed 8 hour battery life on something of this thickness. Video playback claimed at 5 hours though. I guess it boils down to what you can and cant live without. I'm not big on being an artist, occasional doodling is fine with me. If actual digital artistry is your forte, then the Wacom-collaborated stylus and Samsung's suite of programs would be enough to sway you over. I would not comment any more on the top-heaviness since to some it's an acceptable tradeoff. Nor would I comment on the build quality, since to some the design is subjective (hey, some do love plastic!) and therefore are not comparable. Personally to me, the full size HDMI and full size SDXC card support is important to me. I don't have the cables dangling at awkward angle on the Duo (versus the mini HDMI that slots on the side, dangling precariously). Full SDXC card supports up to 128GB and bigger sized SD cards appears earlier on the full size ones than the smaller sized microSDXC, and cheaper too. Already on my Duo it has 256GB storage, 128GB built in, 128Gb SDXC card. I don't take pictures with my Duo so the back low res camera isn't a dealbreaker for me, so if you are the type that uses your tablet to take pics then the 5MPx back camera on the ATIV may come in handy. Although you can only do much on a tablet camera. Again, it all boils down to what you prefer. A laptop that turns into a tablet in a pinch, versus a tablet that turns into a laptop in a pinch. Please test the ergonomics (touch/swipe, does the ATIV wobbles backward) and build quality (body gets hot, all hardware on tablet side, body made of plastic, body heats up, plastic may warp when hot). I'm fond of the choices of form factor you get, but these two issues kept me from picking the ATIV. |

Personally I think I'd nail it at 5 hours actual usage, video playback time would depend on a variety of factors, bitrate, hardware decoding availability, etc. etc. After I found out the extended battery had a digitizer silo I wanted to go for the Sony too but I couldn't due to some personal reasons. String, did you get the extended battery locally in the end or got it from overseas? |

I doubt it's the msian version. The one i tried at harvey norman has USIM slot beside the micro SD slot. Just slot in nano (??) sim card. And the tablet is in silver colour. I remember the sale gals mentioned samsung sent the wrong model, in black colour, to them and the silver ones should be the correct model.

It looks like that Sony offers a higher performance product to Samsung for less, which is rather... strange.
Anyway, I find this to be a rip-off when compared to its price in US. I somehow only find a few companies here like Apple, WD, etc, to offer product prices comparable to their US counterparts. I have to say though, if you're not very keen or impatient to get one of these early "hybrids", wait for Surface Pro; it seems to be the best option so far announced in this category. |

Pre-ordered mine from Harvey-Norman (thanks in part to the extra warranty they promised). They said that the keyboard dock is included, and a variety of online stores here are saying the dock is included as well. Did the guy who bought from Lowyat get ripped off? Who knows, we'll have to wait and see for another week or so.

Hmmm.. The N-Trig shouldn't differ as much from the Wacom though, I've used both before and don't feel much different. But the N-trig IS prone to electrical noise and interferance, so that MIGHT be the issue.
If you ARE a digital artist, I guess you'd only trust Wacom anyway. |

I have used N-trig tablets before, the sudden line you see in the video when you're just about to put the pen near the screen? It happens a lot, and never happens on my older Wacom-based TabletPC.

That rougue line seems to occur when it has touble detecting the pen, usually attributed to eletrical noise in my T580, unplugging it from AC solved that issue.

Just another forum discussing the samsung ativ:
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/tablet-d...3876295-11.html Some units encountered problems too...guess that the risks early adopters have to take. |

QUOTE(rhoyo @ Nov 14 2012, 07:46 PM) oh i see .. so its plastic at the bottom ya . i never touch the device yet .. was planning to buy this or the sony one .. but sony one is a bit expensive . do u usually do extreme stuff on ur device . like the one u buy the sony one . u use it for heavy stuff or linear stuff ? .. so its a bad thing for this detachable keyboard thingy ?? Like what string has mentioned, think about how you'll be using the device in order to decide if its right for you. Cost wise there's not much difference between Sony and Samsung, so its a matter of deciding..- do you want an N-Trig or Wacom digitizer? - do you want a device with a built in digitizer storage or not? - would you like the capability of a removable keyboard? - can you stand the feel of that plastic? |

And be aware of the reported glitches. From Hardwarezone SG forum:-
QUOTE canman42 wrote: The unstable docking further compounds the problem with external storage connection via its USB2.0 connection. You dont want your external drive disconnect/reconnecting would you? Not to mention the keyboard itself too. Keyboard disconnect/reconnect, virtual keyboard pops up and down. Sounds fun. used my pc pro for a couple of days in sg with singtel without problem and now using it in china with china unicom also no problem. my problem so far: a. wifi function disappeared on its own, fix by making changes in device manager b. 3G function disappeared on its own, fix by making changes in device manager c. system laggy at times esp multi tasking or multi apps d. explorer 10 is ****ty ... downloaded google chrome e. unstable docking |

I give up the idea on purchasing this tablet after going online seeing some videos in youtube complaining about the build quality especially the problem with someone having defective stylus (or was it the screen problem) in 2 of his Samsung Activ Pro.
Also one big problem is with ppl complaining about the keyboard getting disconnected frequently during typing and will required you to detach and reattach the tablet to get the thing working again. Hope the second batch will be better, or i think best and safest bet is to go with the Surface pro version. |

QUOTE(0300078 @ Nov 22 2012, 11:46 AM) I give up the idea on purchasing this tablet after going online seeing some videos in youtube complaining about the build quality especially the problem with someone having defective stylus (or was it the screen problem) in 2 of his Samsung Activ Pro. Also one big problem is with ppl complaining about the keyboard getting disconnected frequently during typing and will required you to detach and reattach the tablet to get the thing working again. Hope the second batch will be better, or i think best and safest bet is to go with the Surface pro version. QUOTE(rhoyo @ Nov 22 2012, 11:49 AM) means the keyboard is not strong enough to attach with the tablet ? . maybe have to get the toshiba one There will always be bad applies, especially during the 1st few batches Let's wait for official reviews, hopefully local ones As for the Smart PC Pro, I'm sure it comes with keyboard |

Any considering iconia W700 for RM2199? Includes a cradle without keyboard but cheap. Comes with 2nd generation iCore3 processor though. But way way better than the Atom.

QUOTE(hazremi @ Nov 23 2012, 06:02 PM) Ikr. Other countries are offering better spec of 3rd gen i3 or i5 processors for the Acer Iconia W500 but our country is only 2nd gen i3.And other country also give a free Bluetooth keyboard. @@ but price we win la. I tried the intel Atom version of Samsung Smart Ativ PC and personally didn't really like the design. The keyboard is a cool concept but if I go for intel Atom, I would go for the Acer W500 which also includes keyboard dock for rm1699. |

At risk of pulling this thread the wrong way.I have the W700, and one thing I found out was that the WiFi card (Atheros) is quite crappy, maybe it's because of the aluminium case, or the card reception is just poor, but it's very unstable! Other than the WiFi problems, it's a very decent tablet, GREAT for media use since with a Core i3 you won't have ANY problems playing stuff. |

Just hoping that the issue is not on the hardware but the software. Why not you try contacting Acer and ask them about this? I am on a dilemma to get the ATIV Smart PC or this unit. Reason for this unit is simply the amazing i3 and full HD at such reasonable price.I have the W700, and one thing I found out was that the WiFi card (Atheros) is quite crappy, maybe it's because of the aluminium case, or the card reception is just poor, but it's very unstable! Sorry for interrupting.
I have a question. Is there any WINDOWS 8 PRO tablet which intergrated with GPS capability? So far, only WINDOWS 8 RT tablets have that feature. |

W700's back will get slightly toasty while it's on load, you probably dont want to rest it flat on your lap when it's toasty., probably will get the long exposure burn (low heat, long contact) |

The Intel HD3000 (W700) and the Intel HD4000 (ATIV) are pretty powerful for an integrated GPU lol. QUOTE(kennji @ Nov 30 2012, 12:32 AM) Magnesium is still metal... bad choice...carbon fibre is expensive... and is way off from Samsung's current trend of design too (which is basically cheap looking, glossy, fingerprint attracting and creaky plastic everywhere)... if u insist on metal then it will end up like iPad WiFi, which has a metal chasis but a plastic logo at the middle, or iPad cellular and Transformer Pad Infinity, a plastic stripe running across the top of the tablet... the former is basically asking for trouble from Apple, and the latter, it's not particularly pretty, especially in the case of Transformer... tablets are especially sensitive to this issue since they have small surface area and can't pack bigger antenna... That's not what the guy told me, he definitely said no 3G, Wifi only.Just got a call from HN, and was informed the stocks had already arrived, but couldn't be released because SIRIM hasn't given the approval yet. How were you able to collect yours, Oszie? |

HN told me only 4 units available. I ask for full refund. They said 3g ones will only come next year after getting Sirim approval.
If i really want win8 wifi, i might just wait for surface pro or enxy x2. i preorder bcoz they said it has 3g. |

The amount of misinformation (or bullshit) regarding this is amazing. So they told me cannot release stock because of SIRIM, but Oszie was called to go collect his (but he didn't want it, WTH dude, switch places with me
Right now I don't whether I should be angry at either SME, HN or SIRIM, too much finger-pointing. |

At the counter i asked sale guy to unboxing it. At the road show they said it will be silver in colour and they even shown me the sim card slot. But the one i suppose to collect is black and no sim card slot.
So frustrating after waiting so long (1 month) and i even paid in full. Luckily paid by CC interest free instalments. |

The ATIV is using Z2760, which Intel design specifically to swing it with the ARM chips.
According to this, the power drawn is on par with the rest of ARM chips based tablet. http://www.anandtech.com/show/6340/intel-d...ndows-8-tablets Running Autocad on ATIV maybe is not such a good idea. The ATIV Pro, on the other, with i5 ULV and HD4000, could pull it off, but then the battery performance suffer. (But FHD screen |

Tech site Engadget is not very happy with the ATIV Smart PC 500T though...But the version under review is with LTE radio that may drink more battery juice than wifi only versions...any current owners want to comment?

Endgadget is stupid to complain about screen resolution. If they are going to bring up Retina display, then they should mention the Pro version, which they didn't. Idiots.

been using ativ smart pc for a few days, overall very happy.my relatives are impressed with it and they cancel to buy ipad since they find this ativ is more practical..
just some comment, the firmware on ativ is a bit unstable and might cause crash. firmware update from samsung should solve this issue. other than that, i am damn happy with it.. |

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Dec 19 2012, 08:38 PM) Still, the ATIV Smart PC pro is very tempting too since it'll be much easier and nicer to draw on it compared to the Galaxy Note because i'm planning to buy the ATIV smart PC pro for myself. i owned galaxy tab p7500 before, sold it and go for ipad 3, but seldom use it,because i'm using my aging aspire one more. reason being, whenever i travel, i'll bring along my ext hdd with lots of anime etc inside, and watch it with my aspire one on the go, but i cant do it with my ipad 3, and now its collecting dust. i'm thinking of getting the PC pro, or the lower end samsung ATIV that comes with Windows RT,or grab used unit of mba 11" as both lies within the same price range (2k~2.5k). both suits my requirement, as both already equipped with standard usb port that can connect my ext hdd to the system. |

QUOTE(erszebeth @ Dec 23 2012, 01:50 AM) but TJ, do you think its worth it to spend 3k+ on that particular tab? is the windows OS is smooth and as fluid as the iOS on ipad >3 device? i've played with it before on samsung roadshow, but there's nothing inside the hybrid tab, no movies nor music as well as no internet connection, so its kinda difficult to test its performance. The RM2.5k ATIV Smart PC is enough for normal office tasks, music and movies. But if you are into some more serious designing applications, then the Smart PC Pro would be the better pick because i'm planning to buy the ATIV smart PC pro for myself. i owned galaxy tab p7500 before, sold it and go for ipad 3, but seldom use it,because i'm using my aging aspire one more. reason being, whenever i travel, i'll bring along my ext hdd with lots of anime etc inside, and watch it with my aspire one on the go, but i cant do it with my ipad 3, and now its collecting dust. i'm thinking of getting the PC pro, or the lower end samsung ATIV that comes with Windows RT,or grab used unit of mba 11" as both lies within the same price range (2k~2.5k). both suits my requirement, as both already equipped with standard usb port that can connect my ext hdd to the system. Being able to fit an i5 processor (even if its an ULV one) into a 11.6" hybrid is considered very impressive yo Personally I think that the ATIV Smart PC/ PC Pro are still the best hybrid convertible devices in the market, offering both flexibility and performance... and not to forget the great S-Pen! The SmartPC and Smart PC Pros are considered very cheap already if you intend to use them for on-the-go-and-not-hardcore-drawings... most screen drawing tablets costs more than RM6 for one This post has been edited by [PF] T.J.: Dec 23 2012, 01:58 AM |

But if I want the full Windows OS as it will integrate well with all my productivity softwares + some drawing/sketching capability, I will get the Samsung ATIV Smart PC Probecause i'm planning to buy the ATIV smart PC pro for myself. i owned galaxy tab p7500 before, sold it and go for ipad 3, but seldom use it,because i'm using my aging aspire one more. reason being, whenever i travel, i'll bring along my ext hdd with lots of anime etc inside, and watch it with my aspire one on the go, but i cant do it with my ipad 3, and now its collecting dust. i'm thinking of getting the PC pro, or the lower end samsung ATIV that comes with Windows RT,or grab used unit of mba 11" as both lies within the same price range (2k~2.5k). both suits my requirement, as both already equipped with standard usb port that can connect my ext hdd to the system. |

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Dec 23 2012, 01:57 AM) The RM2.5k ATIV Smart PC is enough for normal office tasks, music and movies. But if you are into some more serious designing applications, then the Smart PC Pro would be the better pick spot on..the same reason i bought ativ smart pc and not smart pc pro...ativ smart pc is enough for doing light task.Being able to fit an i5 processor (even if its an ULV one) into a 11.6" hybrid is considered very impressive yo Personally I think that the ATIV Smart PC/ PC Pro are still the best hybrid convertible devices in the market, offering both flexibility and performance... and not to forget the great S-Pen! The SmartPC and Smart PC Pros are considered very cheap already if you intend to use them for on-the-go-and-not-hardcore-drawings... most screen drawing tablets costs more than RM6 for one |

I know it's kinda lame to find good stuff with a good price. edited: got new poison after reading 'stringfellow' thread about the vaio duo 11". looks awesome, though a bit bulky, but i wouldn't know till i try it myself. man, need to go to sony's to test this baby. haha *note: just survey the duo 11 price, I can get G55 or add another few hundred bucks can get the latest m14x. >_<, but yea, these are from different categories.. huhu This post has been edited by erszebeth: Dec 24 2012, 11:38 AM |

Although not suitable for games, its quite enough for normal usage, including movies etc. |

Here's a review of the Acer W510, what's interesting is that it is also a test of the Clovertrail performance.

700T model with 3G sans keyboard stock has arrived at HN.
Should I just go grab this one (which I could get today) instead of the one sans 3G with keyboard? I don't need 3G though, and the keyboard will probably cost RM300 over here... damn tough decision. Edit - keyboard will cost between Rm400-Rm500. D: But I need a computer for work outside this weekend, so going to collect mine right now. :3 This post has been edited by dangerism: Dec 27 2012, 02:41 PM |

QUOTE(logy @ Dec 27 2012, 02:50 PM) Are you saying it does not come with keyboard by default? need to purchase separately? As I said, there is version with keyboard no 3g like the one in the roadshow, and one version no keyboard but has 3g. Both I presume same price. Mind telling which HN you referring and what price they're selling? TQ I actually pre-ordered the no 3g version, but since this one stock already arrived, I figured in the end might as well just get and open myself to other keyboard solutions. :3 |

Power connection a bit iffy if I don't attach the cable properly. Otherwise, working like a charm (menu). My company's order also given this February date, seriously... Updated the digitizer driver... got the pen pressure to work in more programs BUT it misbehaves in PS CS6. Anybody else got this problem, or should I just downgrade to older version of PS?
Also doesn't align properly in SAI as well. Before this it was okay, but pressure didn't work. Will downloading a driver from Wacom's website solve this problem? EDIT - Working with no problem in OpenCanvas 1.1 and ArtRage 3 Pro. This post has been edited by dangerism: Dec 28 2012, 11:59 AM |

I want to buy Samsung Ativ Smart PC Pro but need some answers.
Is it designed to operate 24 hours? Can it handle the heat as I want to keep it in my pouch bag while its on? Or should I keep it in standy mode? Does it produce heat in standy mode? Can recieve SMS in stanby mode? Sorry for so many questions. Please PM me the price and where to get this. |

The Ativ Smart PC Pro is a laptop, so when you put it in your bag, it'll most likely be in sleep mode which doesn't generate heat. As for the SMS, it's not a phone! Even with the 3G model, because in standby everything would be shut down, you'd still wont get any sms notification. Is it designed to operate 24 hours? Tried Photoshop CS3, and it spasms when you use the pen. Touch works though. Weird. So anyone else has a working PS install on the Pro version?
SAI is actually working, just that launching Photoshop makes the driver go haywire and that was what made it not work before this. Having to sign out to disable touch is annoying, is there an easier solution? Currently playing CIV V Touch. It is awesome. EDIT - while it was nice of them to include some extra nibs as per Wacom standard, I have to say the S-Pen is bloody small, even less comfortable to hold compared to my old tablet pc pen. Am now hunting for either a Thinkpad X60T pen or a proper pen from Wacom as alternative, as they have the eraser end as well. This post has been edited by dangerism: Jan 8 2013, 01:29 PM |

The only direct competition which is similar in specs would be the recently announced ThinkPad Helix. But ThinkPad = expensive

I bought a samsung ativ smart pc 500T.
It was working alright until I updated the system BIOS version P06AAI. The S Pen still work but now it cannot recognise my fingers touch sensor. Anyone encountered this problem ? This post has been edited by jalsrix: Jan 16 2013, 01:45 PM |

QUOTE(marauderz @ Jan 5 2013, 01:53 PM) The Ativ Smart PC Pro is a laptop, so when you put it in your bag, it'll most likely be in sleep mode which doesn't generate heat. As for the SMS, it's not a phone! Even with the 3G model, because in standby everything would be shut down, you'd still wont get any sms notification. I just bought a 3 G model but what is the 3G good for ?Can I put my SIM card into it and call anyone on the tablet ? If answer is yes, what software can I use to call ? |

QUOTE(jalsrix @ Jan 16 2013, 10:31 PM) Sorry. Don't understand all these new terminology. What is mobile data connection hsdpa ? The dongle thingy that Maxis, DiGi and Celcom sells you to give you internet on the go. You get a SIM card when you subscribe for those packages, stick the SIM into the 3G Ativ and you can use that to power your internet. Can I use it like a mobile phone ? If you can find a software in Windows that act like phone dialer but very unlikely. ![]() ![]() When it was first launched in Malaysia last November, the Samsung ATIV Smart PC was only available with Wi-Fi connectivity even though the demo unit that we used during our brief preview with the device did come with a micro-SIM card slot. Well, that about to change soon – the 3G-enabled Samsung ATIV Smart PC is about to be released in Malaysia soon. Available exclusively through Celcom, the new 3G-enabled Samsung ATIV Smart PC will be bundled together with Celcom First Data plans and it will be priced from RM 1,758 (standard price: RM 2,499) onwards – subject to respective plans and length of commitment. Powered by an 1.8GHz Intel Atom Z2760 dual-core processor, the 11.6-inch Windows 8 convertible laptop will be made available at selected Celcom dealers and Blue Cube stores nationwide starting from 25 January 2013. In conjunction with the device’s release into the market, the first 200 early adopters of Samsung ATIV Smart PC at Blue Cube Sunway Pyramid on 25 January will receive a voucher than enables them to utilize Liquipel liquid-resistant coating treatment service for RM90 instead of the service’s usual fee of RM239. The first 30 customers on the same day will each also receive a free Samsung keyboard dock and pouch worth RM550. |

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Jan 22 2013, 09:23 PM) Samsung Malaysia is basically squandering its lead of having a captive market for an i5 tablet with a Wacom digitizer, once the surface pro is released and the parallel importers get to work, they'll notice the demand is gonna start dropping. |

QUOTE(ipohps3 @ Feb 11 2013, 11:28 PM) Hi there, just want to ask whether the stock for smart pc pro that has just arrived has i5 3317U or i5 3337U as Intel has replaced i5 3317U with i5 3337U and in Korea there is smart pc pro model with i5 3337U already. Just wanted to know whether Samsung has upgraded the model for Malaysia or not. Thank you. You need to call Samsung Malaysia to find out the new batch. |

Still no 3G version? Man this will be my laptop replacement. Powerful enough to do spreadsheets and power points, light enough to go anywhere.

If you have connection directly from supplier/distributors, you'll get the stock early

I just received my Smart PC Pro that I pre-ordered from a distributor in Nov 2012.
However, I noticed that the CPU is Core i5-2537M instead of the faster and more power-saving 3317U (with better GPU also) which has been commonly advertised.. My model is XE700T1C-A03MY (wifi model with keyboard), is there anyone else with similar issue? |

Is it possible for us to complain to Samsung and ask for a refund since it's quite a big "downgrade" and it doesn't match what they've been promoting all these while? From what I know, the A03 model in other countries are either keeping the 3317U CPU or getting an upgraded 3337U CPU, only Malaysia gets this downgraded model. If I knew earlier that I'll be getting this 2537M model, I wouldn't have ordered it in the first place. I've been a Samsung fan but I'm greatly disappointed this time. =( |

You can try and argue this depending on what's written on your quote. For me, it's a company pc, and also it was bought using leasing agreements, very very ugly to turn around. Everything else works for me so it's just my luck then. |

As other forummer mentioned, if you have your original quote, or the SS's advertisement that enticed you into making the pre-order, then I believe you have a strong ground to reject the product. I hope you haven't started using it yet..From what I know, the A03 model in other countries are either keeping the 3317U CPU or getting an upgraded 3337U CPU, only Malaysia gets this downgraded model. QUOTE(Delacrox @ Feb 27 2013, 08:55 PM) hello.. Well, it's a core i5 with a 1920x1080 screen, so it has some degree of raw power. Errr.. we're talking about the Pro Core i5 version here not the Clover Trail.just a simple question because im considering to buy this.. i am 3d artist and im looking portable solution to replace my laptop. does it worth to buy this so i can do some work on the go? thank Anyway the main thing you do want to try and find out is how well Intel HD Graphics work with your 3D suite, what are you using? Try and look for online reviews about how well it works when running on various other Core I5 Ultrabooks or Mac Book Airs, cause they use the same GPU |

Wait.. just realized that the new batch PC are all Sandy Bridge means the GPU is only HD Graphics 3000, might not be that awesome. You'll need to find a comparable machine to test with first and see. |

Well, for the processor issue I think what we're seeing is this.
Revision A02 which has the better processor, and the one that's actually published on the website is showing up in retail. Revision A03 which is the poorer performing processor is being distributed to the business/enterprise customers who usually don't care about the specifics. Or have other purchasing agreements in place which makes it difficult for us to argue. End result, lots of confusing as to what's available in the market, and a few pissed customers! |

I just got mine yesterday model XE700T1C-A02MY but I'm having problem with the unit. When I tried to plug in the charger onto the tablet it's not properly inserted. What I mean is there's some gap between the charger and the body of the tablet as u can see in my pic. The keyboard dock is ok but not the tablet. Any thoughts?

I have xe500 and last night the touch screen is not functioning as i can't use my finger on it but have no problem using the pen.
tried disable/enable driver in device manager. Sometimes it works but most of the times it doesn't. another annoying part is that the tablet won't wake up from sleep. Have to force restart by long pressing the power button. any idea why this is happening? Solution? |

Samsung Stand Dock for XE500T1C and XE700T1C
The stand dock simplifies cabling and provides a convenient single click connection and easy access to a wide variety of ports, including 1 x USB, LAN and DC-in (2.5pi). When connected to the stand dock, you can charge your Slate PC using its power supply. So youll always be powered-up and ready to get things done on the move. Note: Stand Dock is compatible with XE500T1C and XE700T1C |

Just got mine last friday. Pro version.
Anyone encountered MBB login issue using IE10 - after type in password and click login, it took too long to login and finally fails to login and return to main page? Tested with firefox and chrome - no problem login MBB website. May be got something to do with the software I installed. This post has been edited by peterscm: Apr 2 2013, 02:15 AM |

QUOTE(peterscm @ Apr 29 2013, 11:33 PM) I managed to perform a perfectly clean flat Screen Protector. My tip is....you need to do it in a clean and enclosed room.Even a tiny speck of dust particle may form bubbles. If can't be avoided, use a cellophane tape to remove the dusts.Hope that helps you to achieve a perfectly flat surfaced SC. |
