not bad, but i5 version too expensive =.=
*
Well, the i5 version is an Ultrabook, and it's close to the price of one as well.

To be precised : Windows 8 RT  blush.gif

Atom would always be running Windows 8 not RT.

really a let down, now i have to fork out extra 400++ for the keyboard. All this while I thought its one package.
*
First of all, from my supplier it's also mentioned that the keyboard is included in the package.

Secondly, the keyboard is just that.. a keyboard, no extra battery or anything like that so you could just use any other BT keyboard with it, it's just more convenient if you use theirs I supposed. Although given that it's too light weight, I'd think that you can't properly use the Ativ with it's keyboard on your lap cause it'd be too easy to tip over.

you cant detach sony vaio duo II screen & keyboard
*
It's just a guess but being top heavy *should* mean that you can't use the Ativ on your lap very well. It's just something you should be aware of if you plan to use it that way.

Oh yes, saw your thread. You chosed sony right? I got the chance to view & play it. I only wish the keyboard was detachable. My only issue was it wasnt easy fr me to slide out the keyboard & i have to position the tablet couple of times to get the right view (eg. Lanscape to potrait & vice versa)

Looking back, still upset with samsung over couple of issue that pop up after i placed my order. But again, will post my review once i get to play with it.
*
I hope to fix to top heaviness by finding someway to weigh down the keyboard, the main reason I decided to go for the Samsung is that I want something with a silo for the digitizer built in. Of course after you mentioned it, the Sony also has a way to store th digitizer with the extended battery. But i prefer wacom to N-Trig whenever possible. tongue.gif The AAAA battery is a real turn off!

Again, it all boils down to what you prefer. A laptop that turns into a tablet in a pinch, versus a tablet that turns into a laptop in a pinch.

*
Yeah, it's great that we have choices on what kinda design and hardware we're looking for in the PC world.

8 hours battery life... Personally I think I'd nail it at 5 hours actual usage, video playback time would depend on a variety of factors, bitrate, hardware decoding availability, etc. etc.

After I found out the extended battery had a digitizer silo I wanted to go for the Sony too but I couldn't due to some personal reasons.

String, did you get the extended battery locally in the end or got it from overseas?

Hmmm.. The N-Trig shouldn't differ as much from the Wacom though, I've used both before and don't feel much different. But the N-trig IS prone to electrical noise and interferance, so that MIGHT be the issue.

If you ARE a digital artist, I guess you'd only trust Wacom anyway. tongue.gif

That rougue line seems to occur when it has touble detecting the pen, usually attributed to eletrical noise in my T580, unplugging it from AC solved that issue.

oh i see .. so its plastic at the bottom ya . i never touch the device yet .. was planning to buy this or the sony one .. but sony one is a bit expensive . do u usually do extreme stuff on ur device . like the one u buy the sony one . u use it for heavy stuff or linear stuff ? ..  so its a bad thing for this detachable keyboard thingy ??
*
Like what string has mentioned, think about how you'll be using the device in order to decide if its right for you. Cost wise there's not much difference between Sony and Samsung, so its a matter of deciding..
- do you want an N-Trig or Wacom digitizer?
- do you want a device with a built in digitizer storage or not?
- would you like the capability of a removable keyboard?
- can you stand the feel of that plastic? tongue.gif

hmmm

- anything would do
- digitzer storage means fizikal or dropbox thingy
- iwant a removable keyboard
-no problem with plastic biggrin.gif

u using sony also rite ? .
*
Digitizer as in can you keep the pen inside the device or not. You have a slot in the Samsung, where as for the Sony you need to by the extra battery to get that capability.

My target is the Samsung.

Any considering iconia W700 for RM2199? Includes a cradle without keyboard but cheap. Comes with 2nd generation iCore3 processor though. But way way better than the Atom.
*
At risk of pulling this thread the wrong way.

I have the W700, and one thing I found out was that the WiFi card (Atheros) is quite crappy, maybe it's because of the aluminium case, or the card reception is just poor, but it's very unstable!

Other than the WiFi problems, it's a very decent tablet, GREAT for media use since with a Core i3 you won't have ANY problems playing stuff. tongue.gif

that's may be why Samsung using plastic body (rear portion) for better Wifi reception.  tongue.gif

That could be one of the reasons.

I have read around and do read up pretty much a lot of WiFi issue. Just hoping that the issue is not on the hardware but the software. Why not you try contacting Acer and ask them about this? I am on a dilemma to get the ATIV Smart PC or this unit. Reason for this unit is simply the amazing i3 and full HD at such reasonable price.

Not trying to stray away from topic, but I would like to ask if the W700 is able to play older games such as Starcraft or MapleStory properly? And how is the heat after several hours of usage?
*
We're talking StarCraft 1 or 2? I think we're at the point where a toaster can run StarCraft 1 already. tongue.gif If MapleStory is just a 2D game then it should be fine, but I remember all these Taiwan online game have some weird anti cheat system right? Can it run under Windows 8?

W700's back will get slightly toasty while it's on load, you probably dont want to rest it flat on your lap when it's toasty., probably will get the long exposure burn (low heat, long contact)

i was wondering why the SAMSUNG ATIV PRO still dont have keyboard ???
*
Here's the scary part, you can't trust the box picture. Box picture doesn't seem to show the keyboard. Just make sure the pro box is not smaller than the normal one, cause smaller one means no keyboard.

Here's a review of the Acer W510, what's interesting is that it is also a test of the Clovertrail performance.

You can also buy the Logitech BT keyboard instead of the Wedge, it's cheaper and also has a convertable cover/stand
