Hey guys, for those who want to change their engine mounting..
Spareparts:
Original mounting costs RM535 / set
Schmaco mounting costs RM200 / set

Schmaco is a good quality locally manufactured brand, and comes with one year warranty.
I got my set of Schmaco at PH Auto @ Sea Park, PJ.
The owner suggested not to go for even cheaper ones, as they're akin to being useless.

Installation:
I'm now in search of a good workshop with cheap price to install the mounting.
Any suggestions? Klang Valley, preferably Damansara/PJ/Wangsa Maju/Melawati areas.

Hi bro,

In the end which engine mounting you pasang? How is the drive after change? total cost incl labour? Thanks..
I am using kelisa manual. Guess its the same regardless gearbox right..?

All lamps are as whole casing, not just the bulb.

Added on April 23, 2012, 6:46 pmI dont bother to go somewhere else since this workshop do all my cars, and they never quote me something overpriced smile.gif

Bro,

I guess that it is overpriced. about 30-50%. Example is air filter, I buy this month only RM14, while u get RM38..
anyway, its your wallet. and how you want to think. Cheers.

Btw i am using a Kenari manual, different car but the engine and geabox is same.

Thanks for sharing exp.
Yours sound like a good deal. 300+ total to last 5 years. Mine is a bit shaky when idle with aircon on. It will reach 10years in a few months time, so think of slightly touch up a bit brows.gif

May I be permitted to interject in between all the shaking & rattlings;
there are no cheap things that does the same original things in this part of the world.
Maybe elsewhere; yet to see it more pervasive locally.

Lower prices are a compromise; either in grade of product, level of workmanship, service delivery, etc.
Based on many discussions seen in forum, it appeared to be either a price issue or a 'cheated' matter.
Leave customary preferences to individuals; quoting the facts of the matter would be more resourceful.

Which bring us to this: is there a place that is just as good as the authorised ones but better priced & no shortening?
Anyone knows? Please do us a good favour, can PM directly too.

kjb auto kajang..about rm1.3k last time change all seals, piston ring, bearings, flywheel oil seal, clean radiator, new top and bottom radiator hose, including labour and engine oil, gearbox oil, coolant..perodua sc is way more expert on perodua cars engine compared to the outside workshop..did kelisa overhaul there..cheaper than outside workshop, yet getting more than outside workshop.. outside workshop for rm1.3k usually they only change the bearing, piston ring, seals..thats it..radiator cleaning have to topup, hose have to topup..

Thanks to Megat & Damon for their feedback.
Can you PM me KJB Auto Kajang's tel. number?

Anyone else knows of a independent workshop that got a experienced sifu
& parts for Kelisa around Klang/Shah Alam/PJ/SJ area?

After many mental simulations on pros & cons of doing a major overhaul on Kelisa engine;
I came to the conclusion that it's best, at the moment,
not to do any major overhaul UNLESS the car breaks down.

Just top-up engine oil whenever oil level is low;
let it leak if its a small leak & put a cardboard to absorb the oil on the porch floor.

A trade-in value for a 10+ year Kelisa is no more than RM6k today.
I have asked 4 dealers a few months ago.

If do a major overhaul it will be at least RM2k at Perodua or about RM1.5k at independents.
This is about 25% of the trade-in value.

Correct me if I am wrong; I have heard that a general guideline would be not more than 40%
of the value if doing a major repair/overhaul.

If more than that; better buy a new car?
Would appreciate comments on this.

Hi...i only suggest that you go to Perodua workshop...

Just to share my horror story - I didn't know which workshop swap my engine support beam with a stainless steel pipe.

Engine oil was leaking badly because the oil seal or timing belt set not installed properly...engine oil stained the whole other belts and etc...

Trust the Perodua workshop...but parts very pricey...go out get OEM parts like APM absorber or Kayaba (fron 2 only RM145/piece) Perodua quoted me RM 500.

Let Perodua install, I regreted letting outstide shop install because P2 very bz...foreign labour...you know la...workmanship..

Where did you buy those absorbers for RM145/piece??

I got APM shocks only at golden auto supplies at Klang Bukit Tinggi...

Advice go to Perodua to do the installations...

Independent workshops is motivated for more changes and etc cos profit...Perodua mechanics...makan gaji...buy KFC before go there and built relationship k.

I owned and still drive a kelisa manual GX 989 cc 2002.

I did spend almost 4k...many things...clutch plates, air con cleaning and service (remove dash board), engine top half cut as engine oil leaking, oil seals, timing belts, engine wire (full set-heat will make copper brittle), coolant, all 4 shocks, front 2 lower arms and bushes, front n back break pads, radiator hose,...car in workshop perodua 1 week and engine is running smoothly. Of cos travel many times up and down as parts from P2 more expensive than outside stockist.

Belanja mechanic RM 50 yum cha la...

Some say stupid...but I calculate all the repairs easily can last me at least another 4 years if not longer. RM 4k / 48 months = RM 84 / month.

New car installment got RM 84 a month?

Based on the above changes...any cars on the road require such maintenance. Based on the list of changes and if it was a another car..how much?

Kelisa is an affordable car to owned and maintained...milleage easily 16 - 18 km per litre. Of cos, many safety lacking and but look at the good sides...in life.

This is my first car...even now i wash and wax the car...this car is sentimental for me...of cos Kelisa not a ladies pick up car.

An old lady is like a vintage whisky that gets better by the years...

Anyone know AN HONEST ALLIGNMENT WORKSHOP?

Believe me when I say it is worth it...I prefer one time major maintenance more than a 5 years debt over my head...@RM 1+k per month.

RM 4,000 pay and forget or RM 50,000 new car with a loan hanging over your head...BTW, I bought a new car RM 50 k +...

Kelisa is spare car...which car out there RM 11,000 with all the major repairs done up and give 16-18 km/litre?

Is there any good exhaust workshop in Shah Alam? I live in Section 9 so anywhere nearby will be great.

Have a small hole in the tail pipe that needs welding.

How much should be the cost of welding? And how much if I change the exhaust tail pipe?

Thanks for the opinions from another angle which I will give it a serious thinking.
Also the calculations have given me new hopes to refurbish the engine core.

I do foresee that Kelisa will eventually be the Mini-Minor of Pero2 in the years to come.
I am surely keeping my Kelisa for my retirement joy ride to the hypermarket.

Also I got a suggestion for remaining Kelisa enthusiasts in Klang Valley to group into Whatsapp to exchange info faster.
Forum is good but nowadays kind of slow and not too instantaneous.

For those interested PM me your HP numbers and I will start a Whatsapp Group,
or if there is already an existing one, please let me know.

Just to share my case.. my car recently got minor hit from rear right. after bend back mungkat/bumper at another workshop I drive back. Now my car going through stripes road will drift slightly. My usual mechanic open bonnet, tell and show me absorber Kong. Need to replace both sides (absorber and dunno what seals on it), quote me 300+. Say its original. Ignition and the engine vibrate. Say original mounting whole set 600+. Do u guys think the price is OK to change the parts? Absorber problem only or wheel axle? A bro mention here chg from manual to auto gearbox. Mind to share any update? thanks..

I have changed my clutch set (original exedy red) around 2013. after a few months, my clutch cable broke the bracket because the cable become stiff. so i replaced a clutch cable as well.

last week. i notice there's a snap sound at my clutch, so i check my clutch pedal and noticed the cable was torn, and almost snapped. so i went to perodua and ask them for a replacement of my clutch cable. i'm quite angry as it only last me 2 years.

after replacement of my clutch cable. i noticed it was nice to drive in the morning. when i first started the car. but after 15 minutes, i started to hear squeaking noise. and the clutch pedal became really hard to press.

i went back to perodua to claim for warranty. they told me it is because my clutch cover or something like that the dust seal already crack and dried and requires lubricant. and i am required to get the entire engine off to inspect and replace the lubricant or what not that requires 4 days and it is going to cost a bomb. (which i might need to replace my clutch)

anyone face this issue?

Thanks for your help in advance.

that could be the throwout bearing. thats why have to bring down the whole engine to get access. if this bearing is good with good grease, u can press the clutch easily and smoothly.
