Mikel Arteta is doing a decent job, but I would prefer a different position for him. To me, he is a temporary fix for our ongoing defensive problems.

From the start he has been a temporary fix. He isn't fast enough and Wenger should really find a replacement for him.

You won't find any defensive midfielder or box to box player in the league which is intelligent, mobile and possess great ball control as Mikel Arteta.

For those who criticize Wenger decision to turn him into DM, don't forget this isn't new to Mikel as well. He played several time as DM when he was an Everton player. Beside, name any DM from the league which has all those criteria that i mentioned above. Then, your argument might hold waters.

yes i understand the need for a LB
but
i figure surely we need a new striker if chamakh is not in favor any more
and a poacher type of striker is perhaps just what we need to open up stubborn defence
if Giro were to get injured, this thread would go on a melt down mang
ask yourselves sweat.gif

i'll slot in podolski in center and have arshavin back on the left wing. tho i'll admit we lose some defensive protection from podolski and the aerial ability of giroud in both attacking and defending.

Giroud is a proper out an out striker that will get you 20-30 goals a season with the right kind of service. Our wingers and fullbacks will be crucial. The sooner we get Gibbs back the better. Vermaelen on the left gives us probably better defense and tackling to a certain extent but going forward Podolski so often gets isolated without someone to make those overlapping runs and draw defenders. Gibbs isn't the best crosser but hey if you don't buy a ticket you won't win the lottery and Vermaelen offers almost nil in this area.

Im not surprised by our slump. The alarm bells were ringing already after the Norwich performance which i immediately pointed out but as usual some people just refuse to accept that there is something wrong with this club at the moment.

Don't get me wrong I do believe this squad is still good enough. No time for the lads to feel sorry for themselves though as its the NLD this Saturday. Perfect stage for them to bounce back but also potentially a huge banana skin. A win is must this weekend.

Btw Arshavin has been fantastic lately. He has had a big impact in the last 3-4 games he has played. I'd fancy him a start on Saturday and perhaps bench Poldi.

Cavani? Forget about him. He is a good player, but he wont be cheap if we want to get his service. 95% AW wont pay so much on a single player.

My point exactly! At the moment, our tactics seems very predictable. Against offensive teams like Fulham, QPR and Sp*rs, we might have a chance to score a few from crosses, but against defensive minded teams, these tactics ain't going to work much. Its pretty obvious when the players are dumbstruck to how to getting pass the parked bus.

Wrong comparison. He's no DM and not really has the same defensive responsibility for City as Arteta.

Julio Cesar confirms Arsenal approach

Remembered someone complains about why we didn't try to sign Cesar.

Well, here you go

Actually, Yaya has all the traits to be DM and he's been played there a lot of times before, heck he even played as CB back then in Barcelona. The only thing that's making him seem less like a DM is his shooting and passing ability, very versatile player.
